You contacted me by mail, on XX/XX/2023 and identified the debt in attached letter. Please supply the information below so that I can be fully informed : Why you think I owe the debt and to whom I owe it, including : The name and address of the creditor to whom the debt is currently owed, the account number used by that creditor, and the amount owed. If this debt started with a different creditor, provide the name and address of the original creditor, the account number used by that creditor, and the amount owed to that creditor at the time it was transferred. When you identify the original creditor, please provide any other name by which I might know them, if that is different from the official name. In addition, tell me when the current creditor obtained the debt and who the current creditor obtained it from. Provide verification and documentation that there is a valid basis for claiming that I am required to pay the debt to the current creditor. For example, can you provide a copy of the written agreement that created my original requirement to pay? If you are asking that I pay a debt that somebody else is or was required to pay, identify that person. Provide verification and documentation about why this is a debt that I am required to pay. The amount and age of the debt, including : A copy of the last billing statement sent to me by the original creditor. State the amount of the debt when you obtained it, and when that was. If there have been any additional interest, fees or charges added since the last billing statement from the original creditor, provide an itemization showing the dates and amount of each added amount. This debt resulted from someone checking out a bunch of books from a local library, using a library account that I opened 10 years ago and have n't used since. It was not me. The original creditor library had no process in place to verify the identity of the individual ; even on an account that had been dormant for many years! So this individual racked up a debt, under my name, with out my knowledge, and sent it to this collection agency. I never received a notice or bill, from either the library or this collection agency ; apparently because they were sent to the XXXX old address on file. I never received a call from either organization, which they have XXXX acknowledged as true ... stating the number they had on file for me was bad ( again, it was over 10 years old. ) The only reason I found out about this fraudulent collection account, is because I just recently found it on my credit report when attempting to finance a new vehicle. I have never had an account in collections before. I 've never so much as even been delinquent on XXXX payment to any creditor. My credit report with all XXXX credit reporting agencies shows that - not even late once, to anybody. Yet this XXXX collection account, for a transaction that was conducted fraudulently, had made significant impact to my " credit score '' for purposes of financing terms. My " credit score '' XX/XX/XXXX was XXXX. It is now XXXX. The difference in that score equates to an additional {$160.00} monthly, in the financing of my new vehicle. A total of {$11000.00} additional expense XXXX financial harm ) that I will have to pay ... due to a fraudulent transaction. I attempted the dispute this debt directly with Unique National Collections, the collection agency who is actually reflected on my credit, and they were unable to assist me. They went so far as to say that I would have to dispute it in writing, only. They refused to notate my account as disputed, or subsequently update that dispute status on my credit profile, based on my " verbal '' dispute. This is a blatant violation of the FCRA and FACTA, and I have that call recorded. They instead referred me back to the library creditor, stating they were unable to answer any of my questions ... even though THEY are the data furnisher supplying this harmful information to the credit reporting agencies. When I spoke with the creditor library, they provided information regarding the transaction ; supplying the date and book titles checked out of their institution. However, they admitted they have no protocol in place to verify update consumer information, or validate identity, when an account is suddenly used after 10 years of dormancy. It raised no flags to them that someone was checking out XXXX books on witchcraft, in one day, on account that had n't been used/accessed in a decade. They admitted that they had no way to investigate or resolve my claim of fraud, and as concession, offered to have Unique National Collections permanently delete the collection item from my credit profile if I just went " ahead and paid it ''. In fact, both the library and Unique National Collection stated that they would have the item permanently deleted if I paid this disputed debt by XX/XX/XXXX. ( I have those calls recorded as well ) Because of the incredibly detrimental damage this has done to my credit score ... I simply paid the outstanding amount, based on the agreement to delete the negative credit entry. Extortion? Perhaps. But the small amount to pay this account does n't compare to the $ XXXX in auto finance terms alone, caused by this fraudulent account. I have now paid the outstanding amount against my better judgement. And, as you may have guessed, they still have not removed this item from my XXXX report. They have violated the FDCPA, the FCRA, and the FACT Act ... and they are still harming my credit over a fraudulent account.

Upon reviewing my personal credit report I noticed XXXX collections that I have no knowledge of. 1.XXXX public library2. Unique Management services , inc. for the amount of $ XXXXThis debt is not mine.After finding this information I quickly called XXXX parties on the collection and told there must be some mistake. the collection is from overdue/lost books from the library in XXXX XXXX XXXX.I believe they have myself mixed up with my brother.We share the same XXXX and XXXX names aswell as the same XXXX initial of our middle names.I spoke with XXXX companies and seemed like all they wanted was money instead of finding out who when what and where.I explained to the library that they must have me mixed up with my brother and that I live halfway across the united states for years now and there was no way this could be me.I asked for proof of debt and was told that they only have a name and address on the account.I asked if they have a driver liscense to go along with the library issued card pertaining to the account and was told they do n't have that information just a age range XXXX ( perfectly fits my brothers age ) .I was told there was nothing they could do. I sent a certified debt validation letter to the collection agency asking for proof that this is my debt and all I got back was a name an address and a list of overdue/lost books and an amount of collection. the address they have on file for this account was my childhood home until I moved away, my brother of the same XXXX XXXX and middle initial name still lives there. for this debt to be mine is next to impossible.Please help and Thank you

I 've recently reviewed my credit report the beginning of XXXX 2016. I 've notice a collections account with Unique National Collections. I sent this company a letter asking to validate this debt in which it claims I owe. I 've also requested in that please me provide me with the authentic document with my authorized signature. Unique National Collections responded on XXXX XXXX, stating that they enclosed a verification of your debt with the alleged creditor. They have not provided a single document with my signature saying that I agree to pay such debt. They have only provided printed out receipts with my name. I have clearly stated that I wanted to Validation and not a verification. They have only sent me a print out of a receipt. How does this validate a debt? I also filed a XXXX complaint against this company and their XXXX Response was : " Unique Management Services ( UMS ) is in receipt of the complaint by XXXX XXXX ( XXXX XXXX ) where she believes that UMS is required to provide with validation of debt according to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act ( FDCPA ). UMS provided adequate debt validation to XXXX XXXX on XXXX XXXX, 2016. As I am certain the XXXX is aware, the FDCPA does not require signed agreements to be provided as a part of debt validation. XXXX XXXX has been provided with validation of the debt as required. She can take care of the balance due directly with the XXXX XXXX XXXX Library ( Library ). The Library will then update UMS, who will in turn update the consumer reporting agencies ''.

This company has violated my rights and has not responded to the demands imposed upon them from my cease and desist. They have contacted me without my written consent or the expressed permission from a court of XXXX XXXX. That's a violation. Also, they clearly stated that they were in the debt collection business by using logos on the letter they sent. They also stated such amount of debt is owed which is another violation. I have been taken advantage of this debt collector and they have been using unfair practices to collect an alleged debt. I am in complete distress

My son has control of my library card and had used it. He hid the late notices from me. When I found out Through XXXX that I had owed {$96.00} I was XXXX. I told to pay the debt. So he went to the XXXX XXXX Library to pay it. The XXXX XXXX Library should have it on their books as paid in full.
