I moved out of my house on XX/XX/XXXX and I had contacted XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX that the bill was incorrect on XX/XX/XXXX and spoke to XXXX and she said she would look into it told me that his wouldn't be sent to collections, or credit agencies. My boyfriend was then contacted XX/XX/2018 via is phone number, He has an out of state number and address compared to mine and a different last name. He was contacted by Account Recovery Services, the person identified themselves as XXXX XXXX.
I have a time/date email that my boyfriend sent to me that he received a call from XXXX XXXX at Account Recovery Services XXXX at XXXX on XX/XX/2018. Here is what he told me occurred : She never read me my rightsshe never announced that she was a collector attempting to collect a debt.
The above was all from my boyfriend and I am not pleased with them sharing my personal information and I know that it's not legal! Not only is this a violation but it was extremely embarrassing and was my private information, I had absolutely no other negative infractions on my credit report and this has been a constant stress and impedes my ability to obtain credit.

Account Recovery Services is reporting an erroneous debt on my credit file. I recently checked my credit and noticed this debt was reporting. I immediately called and settled this debt. I however, never received any calls, notices, or letters from XXXX XXXX XXXX about this debt. This violates my 30 day right to dispute under the FCRA. This must be removed immediately as you violated my rights as a consumer. I am also aware that while this account is under review you lawfully can not report this on my credit until your investigation is over. If your office continues to report invalidated information to any of the three credit bureaus this action might constitute fraud under both federal and state laws. Due to this fact, if any negative mark is found or continues to report on my credit report by your company I will not hesitate to bringing legal action against you and complain to the Attorney General for the following : Violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act & Defamation of character. During this period, if any action is taken which could be considered detrimental to any of my credit reports, I will consult with legal counsel for suite . All references to this account must be deleted and completely removed from my credit file and copy of such deletion request shall be sent to me immediately.

When I first did my research about this case ( that is already affecting my credit ), I decided not to send any complaint ; but right now, I have decided to do all that I need to do to solve this.
Account Recovery Services is committing so many violations to my consumer rights. I am complaining about the following account : # XXXX, opened date reported : XX/XX/2016, original balance : {$8400.00}.
Violations of the Fair Credit Reporting Act : - Reporting an incorrect opening date.
- Missing date of last payment.
- Failing to register company in the California Secretary of State.
- Unfair business practices.
- Negligence.
- Breach of contract.
All I am asking is to take this case in serious consideration, and remove the item from my report.
CFPB : Please take the attached documents to Account Recovery Services.
Thank you so much.

Hi, I am a victim of identity theft. Someone used my personal information and identity for fraudulent gain. I did not create the accounts or gained any services or goods from them. When I became aware I was a victim, I reported it to the police, FTC and credit bureaus ( XXXX, XXXX and XXXX XXXX ). Account Recovery Services is a fraudulent account and is being reported on my credit report. I notified them via certified dispute letter with a copy of my police report, FTC affidavit, identification, current mailing address and explained to them the debt was not mine and a result of identity theft. Account Recovery Service verified the fraudulent account with the credit bureaus and have not removed their reporting of the fraudulent account, ignoring my disputes. The debt is n't mine and is a result of identity theft.

On XX/XX/2021 I reached out to the company ( Account recovery services ) and the phone number ( XXXX XXXX ) was disconnected, I searched for a second phone number online and discovered that the business was permanently closed. The account still appears on my credit report for the amount of {$460.00}, however this was paid in full nearly 2 years ago.
