When going into a XXXXbank branch to get XXXX for my minor daughter to take to XXXX last summer, the Bank teller aggressively sold me ( successfully ) a reloadable Travelex cash card ... Stating that I could get the card in my name and give it to my daughter for her solo travels in XXXX. Teller stated that if my daughter lost card.. Another would be sent to her.. Also that card could be reloaded and used at many locations legally and it was the safest way to go. After buying and loading the card, I called " multi currency cash passport '' company to get details on usage. Cash Passport told me I would be " in breach of contract '' if I let my daughter use my card without me ( she is a minor, traveling solo ), and they would not replace it if stolen, lost or confiscated. Cash Passport mentioned that some merchants may confiscate her card. I returned to Travelex counter inside usbank and they were still aggressively selling Travelex card to parents of minors for the minor to use overseas ( I had to wait in long line and overheard same selling points that sold me on the " safe card for your child to use XXXX alone ) .. I did speak to the teller and then the tellers manager about this dangerous marketing strategy.. ( They did unload my cash card.. For a fee of course.. But that is not my complaint today ). My concern is for these children traveling XXXX with a cash card that is not replaceable if lost or stolen. This practice that Travelex is aggressively selling the cash passport card to parents that come to bank counter to get foreign currency.. And children are traveling solo overseas with a false sense of safety. I mentioned these concerns to Travelex manager XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, and she did not seem to understand my concerns..I would like Travelex to train there employees to not push this card on parents of minor children that come to the bank to change dollars to foreign currency. That is wrong. This is putting children in danger. Thank you

Hello, I am writing to inquire about acceptable business practices and fees for currency exchanges. I recently visited XXXX, and exchanged USD in cash for JPY prior to taking off. I later realized the rate I was given in the airport was notably different from exchanges elsewhere, and began looking into this more prompting this message. A receipt from my transaction is attached for reference. This was a currency exchange counter in the XXXX airport near the XXXX XXXX international check-in counter. My initial intention was to exchange {$500.00} USD for JPY so I would have cash in-hand prior to landing. The individual behind the counter encouraged me to exchange more money, as I would receive a better exchange rate in this circumstance. I can not recall what the difference was exactly. On reviewing the rate I was given, in addition to the fees that were imposed : XXXX XXXX XXXX I received XXXX JPY. When dividing this by the exchange rate that day ( XXXX ) = {$500.00} USD. I was charged a total of {$610.00}. This a total loss of {$110.00} on an intended conversion of ~ {$600.00}! I am writing as I naively assumed a currency exchange in a major US airport ( XXXX ) would provide a fair rate/fees. After auditing this I am realizing I am sorely mistaken and feel rather foolish. But I am guessing this occurs to many individuals systematically. I am not sure if this is considered to be a fair business practice, or if there are limits to the rate an exchange can give compared to what is being traded that day. In any case, as a consumer, I would advocate that these fees be much more clearly stated as I would not have taken that action had I realized the financial loss associated with the transaction. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Please don't hesitate to reach out with any further questions/clarifications. Thanks, XXXX XXXX

I attempted to exchange euros to dollars at the Travelex Kiosk ( XXXX XXXX at XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX, VA ) on XXXX/XXXX/2016 at approximately XXXX. I provided my identification as requested and the teller handed me a piece of scratch paper and told me to write down my social security number and phone number. I told her I did not want to provide the information and did n't want to continue. She proceeded to write down my license information on scratch paper and told me she needed to keep it because I declined the transaction. I take issue with this transaction. Under no circumstances am I going to give someone my social security number on a piece of scratch paper and further take issue with her writing down all my personal information on scratch paper and hiding it under a keyboard. This is highly unusual behavior for such a large company to ask for such sensitive information in such a un-professional manner. I do n't know this employee and how she is going to protect my information or if it is going to be taken and used for nefarious purposes. I complied with the request for ID and have no issue with that, but will not give up my SSN to an unknown person on a blank piece of paper. There is no way to assure that the information will be properly safeguarded if collected in such a manner.

This is a pre-paid Travelex Mastercard which was issued as a travel card to provide XXXX while I was traveling. Card Number : XXXX There is an outstanding pre-paid balance on the card of {$400.00}, but when I asked the bank to close the account, and refund the balance, I was told by a representative of the bank that they no longer honor these cards. The expiration date on the card is XX/XX/XXXX. Two months ago, I spent about an hour on the phone with a representative of the bank ( " XXXX '' - employee number XXXX ) at the ( XXXX ) number XXXX. Initially she told me that she could talk to the bank, but that she was sure they would not refund the balance. After much discussion she who told me that a " XXXX '' would generate an email to me concerning the refund. I have had no contact from the bank since that call. I am asking that you contact the bank and determine why they are not honoring this card, or the outstanding balance owed to me.

I placed an online order ( XXXX ) with Travelex on XX/XX/2019 which was supposed to be delivered on XX/XX/2019 for XXXX Japanese Yen costing me XXXX US Dollars. This order was not fulfilled by Travelex until 3 weeks later after I was already in XXXX and had to pay for additional money exchange. I know have received the money and want to return to Travelex for a full refund of the money and fees charged to me by Travelex. The company still has their internal systems down due to a hack into their systems which I understand but they have done nothing to make up for holding my money for more than a month. I expect Travelex to pay me back my money, fees and also add compensation due to holding my funds illegally without returning them by XX/XX/XXXX. If I do not receive my funds, fees and additional compensation by XX/XX/XXXX I will pursue additional legal action due to customer harm caused by Travelex.

XXXX XXXX, 2017 Exchanged {$1200.00} USD for {$920.00} Euro ( see attached ) I even did more than I wanted to because they offered a 3 % discount if it was above {$1200.00}. ( this is the part that bothers me most, not only did I not get a discount they even increased the exchange to their favor, a complete lie ). The published exchange rate was XXXX The given exchange rate was XXXX They said this is the cost of business. I was n't aware of the price gouging until I reached my destination where they gave me the fair value in trade. When I returned to US I called Travelex XXXX XXXX to complain. They said I should have not done the exchange if I did n't like the rate. Again, I was n't aware of the gouging until I got to my destination. I figure the exchange cost me an added {$200.00} from the unfair exchange.

Returning to the XXXX I exchanged XXXX at the Travelex XXXX at the XXXX XXXX Airport. The buy exchange rate posted was XXXX XXXX $ per XXXX. Rather than multiply that rate times XXXX ( XXXX XXXX XXXX = {$230.00} XXXX, the person at the counter divided XXXX XXXX = {$210.00} XXXX. I was shortchanged {$19.00}. I recognized this at the time ( I am an XXXX so I know these things ) but did not say anything because I had to catch a tight flight connection. My suspicion is that the person at the desk or her manager or maybe even the company does this routinely as a scam.
