The bill in question was for approximately {$1200.00} for emergency ambulance services. The bill was paid in full in XXXX to XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. On XX/XX/2019 I received a letter from XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX ( Total Recovery Services ) that they had been asked to collect a debt owed to Total Recovery Services for {$21.00}. We called the number in the letter and asked to speak to someone regarding what this {$21.00} was for and who Total Recovery Services was as we had never received anything from them. The person who answered the phone asked me to provide the name of current employer. As I still had no idea who it was I was calling or why they sent the letter, I refused to provide them that information. They refused to speak to me unless I told them who my current employer was. As this point, I was extremely suspicious that this was some sort of scam and terminated the call. My wife later called the number and was told the same thing, that the person on the phone could not discuss the account unless they were given the name of current employer. She asked them why they needed the information and was told that they were using it to verify my identity. She informed them that they did not need that information and offered to verify another way. They refused and terminated the call. She then attempted to contact Total Recovery Services directly and was given the same exact run around from what sounded like the same person ( meaning that Total Recovery Services directly and was given the same run around from what sounded like the same person ( meaning that Total Recovery Services and this XXXX XXXX XXXX were the same people ). At this point we were certain it was some type of scam. This weekend, I checked my credit report that comes with my credit card bill and was shocked to see a 100 point drop in my credit score XXXX to XXXX. An online search showed that this Total Recovery Services had turned me in to the credit bureau 's for a debt that has never been verified and that I highly doubt even exists. At this point I will likely pursue further actions with FTC and state Attorney 's office. I have already filed a complaint with the XXXX XXXX XXXX. I have also disputed this with the credit agencies.

My husband and I were denied a mortgage because of credit history problems. This was a shock to us. We found out that a debt collection agency kept abusing my credit history each month without my knowledge. It turned out that when we moved XXXX miles away- there was a medical Bill that was unpaid. I have always been on top of my things ( paying bills, changing addresses etc ). USPS had a forwarding address on file. Somehow the debt collection agency claims that they received returned mail.
My understanding is that they did not bother to do anything at all to try and contact me. They have no proof that they could provide. In todays world it is not hard to track someone down who live openly online. Why did I not get bills forwarded from the doctors office, or from the collection agency or even phone calls or anything at all for 6 months?
I had to contact the collection firm to pay the bill! I feel cheated and I know that nobody can help me.

On XXXX XXXX, 2017, I contacted the XXXX XXXX Clinic in an effort to pay a debt that was owed. The representative stated that the account was closed/charged off and that they account was turned over to a collection agency. I asked her what is their process when sending the account to the collection agency. She stated that " they buy them out. '' I have not a reason to contact the collection agency in order to pay for a debt that I do not owe to them, as the original creditor settled the account.
