I had a defaulted XXXX XXXX Student loan in which XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ( XXXX ) took over around XXXX. They begin to garnish my wages due to the default,15 % of disposable income was garnished per pay check. In XX/XX/XXXX I was aware that the loan would finally be paid off soon. I called XXXX and asked for the balance. I was advised that my loan was almost paid off, as I only owed {$290.00}, Since on average they were taking apprx. {$210.00} per check this meant I would be paid in full in apprx 1 mo, as she advised that was not the final payoff amount due to monthly interest charges. She stated to call back after my next paycheck to check the balance. I called 2 weeks later and was advised that I only owed apprx. {$80.00}. I inquired if {$80.00} would be the amount taken out and was advised I would have to call my HR department and advise them to adjust the amount. I contacted my HR department and was advised that they are required by law to take 15 % of my disposable income until they received notification that the loan was satisfied. I called XXXX back and was advised that a letter had been sent to my employer advising of the adjusted amount. The final deduction was made for apprx {$290.00}. I contact XXXX and was advised that a refund check would be sent to me. I contacted my HR department who confirmed that they had not received notification to stop the garnishment and it would occur unless they receive a notice of release. I called XXXX back and had them fax a letter to my HR dept. I'm not sure why I would have to do this. At this point they had 2 weeks to notify my employer to stop the garnishment. After several weeks I receive a call from XXXX. I only know they called me due to having caller ID, no message was left no text message received. I was wondering why they would be calling me since I had received written correspondence confirming my loan was satisfied. I also saw that my loan was reported as Paid in Full to the credit reporting agencies and the garnishment had stopped for several paychecks. When I spoke to XXXX I was advised that was my case manager calling me to advise that I owe a balance of {$280.00}. I asked how since my loan was satisfied. He stated that a payment of {$210.00} was credited to my account 2x by accident. Once the accident was noticed the payment was reversed. I asked if a double payment of {$210.00} was credited why do I owe {$290.00}. He stated interest charges. I asked how could I be charged interest on a mistake that was not made by me nor was I notified of error. He stated finance charges were assessed and I had 30 days to pay the balance or my wages would be garnished. I asked to speak to member of management and was transferred to a voicemail with no name. I left a message and asked for call back which i never received. I called back to follow up on my request to speak to a manager and inquire why I received a letter from my HR department advising that my wages were being garnished for {$490.00}. The rep stated that a payment of {$210.00} was applied 2x by accident then reversed off the account and a refund check of {$170.00} was sent in error and finance charges. She stated that since my account was in default my finance charges are higher than normal. I asked again how can I be charged finance charges for mistakes not made by me. I asked why wasnt i informed of any of this. I at this point I had received 1 phone call with no message left, 0 letters, 0 emails and 0 text. She stated that there was nothing that could be doon and if i dont pay in full the wage garnishment would occur. I asked for a manager and received the same nameless voicemail. I again requested a call back from the manager and nothing was received. The wage garnishment occurred and balance has been paid. However, I do not feel this is fair and believe I deserve a refund of any amounts stated that was owed be me after being advised the loan was paid full the 1st time. I should not be penalized for XXXX misapplication of payments and poor communication skills.

I was contacted by XXXX XXXX XXXX XX/XX/XXXX regarding student loan debt with an increase of XXXX in collection charges the department of edu did not honor my debt rehab program with them and sent the information to XXXX, once contacting XXXX XXXX XXXX they stated that I would go into 9 month rehab program and after the program a new servicer would contact me so XX/XX/XXXX payments where started of 33 $ every month on the XXXX of the month automatically, all payments where made up until XX/XX/XXXX completing the successful rehab program, I called XXXX XXXX XXXX XX/XX/XXXX to inquire to why I have received no contact regarding new servicer. On the call the lady explained they had the incorrect contact information for me even tho they where sending everything to my current address etc, the women advised me to make another 33 $ payment for XX/XX/XXXXI did, after this I received a letter stating I fell out of the program even though I completed all the paperwork required 1040, w2, financial disclosure in XX/XX/XXXX which that is how my payments where calculated. So now its XX/XX/XXXX and still no answer to why they have not had any other servicer contact me to take me out of the debt which is affecting my Score. They seemed to have no information no notes on call nor the program even though they took the payments, they are falsely advising and not following federal guidelines for debt collection, the dept of edu is not accepting calls. So Im paying this debt every month for now 10 months and the rehab program is not being followed by XXXX they are still attempting to collect debt with the 14,000 in collection fees they have not contact any servicer regarding my loan nor sharing the information with the dept of edu, they are continuing to keep me in default regardless of the so called program offered. They are attempting to place me in another 9 month program saying they havent received proof of insurance which was never requested everything was sent via email.

On XX/XX/2019 I spoke with XXXX, returned a phone call that I received thinking it was from the fasfa department. The phone number associated with the call XXXX, the other number I called back that was left on my voicemail was ( XXXX ) XXXX. The associate told me that XXXX XXXX the original person that called me was on another line an he would assist me. Then he asked for my full social an I provided him with it .not thinking that it could be a scam he then asked for a debit card or banking information I hung up because it would be XXXX up front for 6 months then XXXX after that. Please help me!!

My Boss received a letter addressed to me at his home address from a " Student Loan Consolidation and payment reduction program '' inside this letter is disclosed the total amount I owe in student loans. I have never lived at his address. I am angered that my personal information was sent to his home and that my personal information was disclosed to him. The letter stated it was my " Final Notice '' so he has been receiving this information repeatedly. He brought it to my attention today XX/XX/18 and stated he was not sure why it was being delivered to his home.

I was on a payment plan, paying on time every month. My refund was snatched from me XX/XX/2018 without me knowing I was never sent out a letter or told that my income would be garnished. I called the bureau of fiscal services, and was told my offset was ok and I was ok to file my taxes for the year. Well, I file and student loans took my entire refund and didn't sent me out any letters, e-mails, or phone call. I am a single mother of XXXX, I am about to be evicted, cars repossessed, ect. I need immediate help Please and thank you.

I enrolled in student loan debt agency program and the down-payment was {$650.00} dollars They told me that after the program was completed that my loan would be forgiven and my payments would be consolidated to increments of {$20.00} dollars a month for next 20 years So I have not heard anything from them in months nothing in the mail stated that have completed the program I even tried calling them and their number changed The number was XXXX XXXX and guy name XXXX XXXX was handling my case

I went to a college that is no longer open and went bankrupt and I can't go back to school or get a better education so I can provide for my children but I don't have a monthly income I don't even get any money and I'm trying to go back but this has been stopping me for years and not to mention I didn't even finish the semester and I can't find anyone to help me with this issue thanks XXXX XXXX

I did not receive notification of student loans garnishment because lender did not have my updated address. When I finally received notification it was too late they had already decided to garnish my pay and back tax withholding because of no response from me.
