First threatening phone call made on XX/XX/2018. A message stating a case number, a 24 hour deadline, impersonating a police XXXX, threatening legal action and arrest was left on my grandfathers answering machine. He called me afraid for me. XX/XX/2018 I called back XXXX XXXX XXXX. While on the phone with a XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX, trying to sort out why I was being called about a debt I had already paid the year before to a Foster and XXXX, I received a phone call from my grandfather who said they had called him a second time. Again aggressively threatening to put me in jail, court action, using foul language, and giving a 24 hour deadline. I was unable to sort it out with them. They demanded proof of the debt behind paid off. Bank records werent enough. They wanted a letter from the previous company. I called XXXX and XXXX who conveniently had no record of the debt or me paying it off. They directed me to a Southwestern Investor Group who they said hired them to collect the debt. I called Southwestern Investor Group who said they only had record of one payment. They put me on hold, when they returned they said they would mark it as paid, they would mail out a letter ( I never gave an address ), they would email ( they did ask me for my email address ) me a copy to forward to XXXX XXXX XXXX, and they would contact Cornerstone who they sold the debt to, let them know it was marked paid, and who they assumed hired XXXX XXXX XXXX. I never received an email. I called back around XXXX, as their website says they are open until five Monday through Thursday. I was sent to an answering machine that said their hours were until XXXX. And, their answering machine was so full I couldnt even leave a message.

I was contacted by XXXX XXXX ( XXXX ) a t XXXX . Originally he did not say where he was calling from, only that he was working wi th the District Attorney in my county and was filing the next day to garnish 30 % of my wages and levy my bank accounts for a debt owed to XXXX XXXX in the amount of {$790.00}. He said they will freeze any bank account with my name on it and take all the funds. I imagine interest is included as my credit limit was only {$500.00} and I was no where near that when I ran into financial trouble. Ultimately I would owe over {$3000.00} once attorney and court fees were applied. He told me that I needed to make a good-faith payment that day to keep him from filing in court.

I came to know this was a collection agency after I contacted XXXX XXXX . They told me the debt was now held b y Southwest Investor Group a t XXXX . I called and asked for my balance and how to make some sort of payment arrangement. The young lady that answered informed me that it was with XXXX and transferred me. XXXX XXXX answered the phone sounding angry that I called in on the XXXX number. I asked him to send me debt information through the mail as I had not received anything about this outside of a phone call in over a year.

In XXXX, I paid my XXXX credit card debt in full and the credit card was canceled. I did not receive a letter for them trying to collect any debt for me. In XXXX, a debt collection reached out to me saying that I owed them money through my XXXX account. I no longer have the card, and they did not provide me account information. XXXX XXXX was the bank I paid my XXXX payment to, but XXXX no longer uses them as their bank server. When I reached out to them, they said that the account no longer exists. I asked what I should do to have this proven, and they said reach out to the bank in which you made the payment through. At the time, I banked with XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX, but I longer have an account with them. I reached out to XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX, and they said they no longer had my account statements saved. I logged onto XXXX XXXX XXXXo check my credit score, and I see I have a derogatory mark on my credit. I went through CFBP to get this resolved and the company stated that they no longer have information on this, and it is now another companies problem. I need help with working this out so that I am not over paying, and so that this mark is taken off of my credit score.

Southwestern Investors Group llc and XXXX XXXX who was recruited by Southwestern Investors Group llc has been threatening to file a lawsuit against me and also have me taken to jail for possession over stolen property when I never stole anything. This is over a game stop card I could n't pay. XXXX XXXX has many complaints from other people saying they told them similar things about being thrown in jail. I feel jeopardized that Southwestern gave my information to this company. XXXX XXXX claimed to be lawyers which they are n't. Southwestern acknowledged recruiting these people to basically threaten me with jail. I have been depressed, anxious and scared. Southwestern also said they are not a debt collector ( which they are ) and are merely a debt purchasing company.
