I recently received a letter from Rossi Law Offices , LTD from XXXX RI dated XX/XX/XXXX. The letter stated that I owed a debt of {$830.00} for a XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX on my vehicle from XX/XX/XXXX. I have never received correspondence regarding this excise tax in the past and the car they are referencing was sold in early XX/XX/XXXX in the state of Florida under the dealership XXXX XXXX XXXX. I did have forwarding mail and never received any notification of this. The letter stated I had 30 days to respond to the correspondence to inquire more information. As I returned to my home today I received a 2nd correspondence letter date XX/XX/XXXX ( dated incorrectly or fraudulently ) stating that I have not yet responded to the letter from XX/XX/XXXX for the amount of {$830.00} ( different from the original amount stated ). The letter claimed " we do not understand why you would not want to pay this account. '' This is clearly not a reputable law office, as dates and claimed amounts due have no proof of information provided by the town of XXXX XXXX or the State of Rhode Island, and additionally the language provided in the letter. The dates of the letters versus the verbiage and time of receipt clearly show that this is incorrect information. Should I have had an excise tax back in XXXX in regards to my vehicle I would have been glad to have rendered payment as it would have NOT been over {$800.00}. I have not yet contacted them as I would like to deal straight with the State of Rhode Island instead.

On or about XX/XX/XXXX I received a collection letter from Rossi Law Office, LTD on a collection for a XXXX bill dated XX/XX/XXXX from XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX.
On this same day I called XXXX XXXX regarding this letter and bill from over 2 years ago.
I spoke to a woman in the billling department regarding this letter as I have never received a bill or notification that money was owed. I was told this debt was sent to this Law Firm awhile ago, and was directed to call the Law Offices.
I then called the Rossi Law Offices and spoke with a woman who claimed they have had this file for " almost a year ''. At this point I am beyond overwhelmed, scared and confused of a bill of almost {$6000.00}. In my fear I quickly made a payment arrangement to avoid legal actions. I am legally XXXX and live on a fixed income and now widowed. This is where this bill is coming from, on the date of service My XXXX was XXXX in a XXXX XXXX. My XXXX had insurance and this would have been paid with all remaining bills. After speaking to several people regarding this bill, I was told to contact the CFPB. Something is definitly off with this whole situation.
I was assured this was all taken care of and have never seen a bill since?

Please send verification of the debt or a copy of the judgment against me. Also send the name and address of the original creditor, and copies of the original, signed and dated excise transaction. Any other details you can provide will be most helpful for resolution.

XX/XX/2019 I spoke with XXXX at Rossi Law. Her answers were ambiguous. She said it is illegal for her to send me that information.

I was in a motorcycle accident and had to go get a XXXX. I was not supposed to be charged this copay at all ; but was due to a clerical error. As I was unaware of the mistake the billing company made and so it was sent to collection. I sent the collection agency a copy of the statute proving I should not have been billed and a letter asking them to verify the information over a month ago. They never replied to me. Instead of removing the information from my credit report as they are required to do un der the FCRA ; they changed the creditor name to N/A. They are also reporting the same XXXX dollar copay XXXX times ; each off by a few dollars a few digits in the " account '' number they reported. Their XXXX and only motive for doing this is to cause my credit score to drop and to harm me. I am happy to send you copies of the correspondence if this helps in your investigation.

I received a bill from Rossi Law Offices , LTD in the amount of {$41.00}. I sent out payment immediately as they were claiming to be collecting a debt for the City of XXXX XXXX. Payment was mailed by check the first week of XXXX in the amount of {$41.00}. The so called law office failed to cash the check and has now sent a bill for a slightly different higher amount. This debt was a debt that my ex-wife should have paid as a result of our divorce. This debt collector is playing games. It appears I will need to put a stop payment on this check and who knows what they did with it. A quick search on the internet demonstrates this is their MO.

The city of XXXX, CT, which I do not live in, attempted to tax my motor vehicle in XXXX. I never received notice from the city that I owed a tax. On XX/XX/XXXX I received a letter from Rossi Law Offices , LTD. Upon receiving this first notice from the debt collector, the debt collector did not provide notification of validation. The debt collector also failed to provide notification that I have the right to dispute the debt if I believe the debt to be incorrect. The letter only demanded that I pay the amount owed. I believe this to be deceptive and abusive.

Rossi Law Offices XXXX is a collection agency collecting a debt they say I owed the The XXXX XXXX for vehicle excise taxes during two years I lived solely XXXX and had the vehicles registered XXXX. I have written to dispute this claim, but only get back unsigned responses in the form of new bills.
