Trying to collect debt from 2006 on an expired bank account in another city. This account originally had been closed by ME, and the bank failed to issue me the last remaining few cents in the account. An automatic payment came through the bank ( that I had cancelled but still tried to come through ), and they PUT IT THROUGH, though the account was closed! It was a small amount, maybe {$25.00}. After that, this XXXX Bank started charging enormous interest on the bounced fee ( 6 % daily compounded if I recall! ) and amount that went through. It kept going until it reached the sum of : {$250.00}, when they notified me that the account had not been closed properly and they were still charging daily interest. What took so long? No wonder they went out of business. N one trusted them! I have never known a bank in my life that added such large interest to a bounced check, especially considering the account had been closed out!! It was clearly a money making racket! I had absolutely no way of paying this fee back at the time, and felt it was perverse based on the way it was compiled. I tried to explain to the bank, but they were unreasonable and would not listen. They could only see $ $ signs. I suppose after you do this to enough people, you could be looking at quite a bit of money! I see no reason for letters to be sent to me now, after 9 years, and phone calls to be made, from a place called XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, listing RJM as the creditor, with the original account at Compass, threatening me for legal action and the ruining of my credit based on a fraudulent amount of money that I owe. I do not have my bank records that far back, as they were left in my parent 's garage and after my father passed, everything had to be taken out to sell the house. It SHOULD be on this bank to prove the burden of debt. I was told by the agent that they can not do that because the original creditor has the records, and they bought the bank. Really? If they bought the bank, then they should have the records! They are charging over {$200.00} of interest, at the least. NO mention of compounded daily interest was mentioned for bounced checks when I signed up to that bank initially, none!! I was told by this debt collector that called that debts can be collected up to 15 and 20 years if it is valid. That is NOT what I have read. I have read that after 7 years that are dropped. And even if this is incorrect, it is illegal for a collection agency to buy an old debt to try to collect for themselves, and to lie and say they bought the bank ( it went out of business ). This agent argued with me over this. Sorry, I know my rights!

When this debt was reported to me I had made three attempts to settle my original debt with XXXX creditor in the sum of {$99.00} for a false claim that I owed that sum. My checks were returned XXXX time from XXXX XXXX with the explanation that I had already met my purchase obligations. Funds were available in my accounts I used to send checks for XXXX that I had already paid for under the clubs mandatory purchase policy. This original transaction with my XXXX creditor took place sometime around XXXXwhen my check was returned. My account was passed to RJMXXXX around XXXX XXXX, XXXX and I continued to dispute that collection notice. RJMXXXX continued to harass me over the next 2 years for the {$99.00} sum that they claimed I owed since I refused to pay until they were able to prove that I owed that original debt but they were never able to produce any documentation from XXXX that I failed to meet my obligation in purchasing the required membership DVDs. I eventually relented and paid the {$99.00} sometime in XXXX XXXX. My RJMXXXX account number reads XXXX I recently attempted to contact RJMXXXX at the following address : RJM ACQUISITIONS LLC/ XXXX, XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX, NY XXXX, Phone # : XXXX The reason for my recent attempt to call RJMXXXX was to ask them to remove this {$99.00} collection notice from my credit report since I consider it to be incorrect and I have continued to dispute this item from the inception. As of today 's date I have not been able to contact RJMXXXX or any of their representative that have inherited their active accounts since I have been informed that RJMXXXX is no longer handling my account and every number that I call is either not in service or the representative or their supervisor can not do anything about my request since they do n't have my account since has been closed

I owed XXXX XXXX XXXX for a checking acct. RJM acquisitions XXXX XXXX XXXX. XXXX XXXX XXXX, NY XXXX ; XXXX purchase the debt and offered a reduced payback. I have been paying them for over 2 years and have a current settlement balance of {$340.00}. Recently another Debt collection Agency reported to my credit report that I owed them {$700.00} for XXXX XXXX XXXX with no acct # attached. When I tried to make my current payment as usually to RJM the website is no longer accessible. XXXX XXXX is the collection that attached a claim to my credit but In have n't received any info from them and they reported I made a payment to them in XX/XX/XXXX for the same I paid to RJM in XX/XX/XXXX. I have paid 1/2 my debt settlement to RJM. I disputed the complaint with XXXX and only received a response that they updated my account but when I reviewed XXXX XXXX was still there. I do n't have a problem paying the debt but I do n't think another debt collector should be trying to collect on a debt I 'm already paying with no contact and the amount they are charging is double of the balance left owed to RJM because I have been making the payments.

We have been making payments for a debt to a company called RJM Acquisitions. Today we received a call from XXXX XXXX, another debt collection agency, claiming they are the actual owners of the debt and that they are suing my husband for nonpayment. We now have to figure out who actually owns this debt and how we recover the fact that we have already paid a debt to a possible scam artist- all while being sued for this very old debt.

This company continues to report on my credit report after I sent them a letter telling them that this account was not mine and I have no idea what it is or who it belongs to!
