On XX/XX/2018 I contacted a loan officer XXXX XXXX at Residential Mortgage in XXXX, NC and I told her that my husband and I wanted to use his VA loan to purchase a home and this is our first time buying. She then asked me how much were we looking to spend in mortgage per month and I said no more than {$1100.00}. She emailed the application, we filled it out and sent it in. A few days later she informed us that we were pre-approved for {$160000.00}. We corresponded back and forth through email and telephone. On XX/XX/2018 our offer got accepted on a home. I had already been packing up our home getting ready for the move. The loan officer was aware that when our offer got accepted that I would put everything in my house in storage and move in with my mother until we closed on the new property. The loan officer did not tell us that she hadn't completed the steps for the VA Loan and that we had not yet to be approved for the VA Loan. Had we known we hadn't been approved yet we would have waited on moving out our home and putting things in storage. We were due to close on this property on XX/XX/2018. The week before we were due to close she informed us that we did not get approved for the VA Loan because my husband did not serve enough time during his ERA. She went on to say that she could try us with a FHA Loan. Then told us that we would need to contact someone else because she could no longer be of assistance to us. So now I'm out of {$370.00} for an inspection on the property and {$230.00} for paying 2 months of storage. Had we been able to close on the house we wouldn't have paid anything for storage because we got the 1st month free. My husband was working/living out of town since XX/XX/2018 and the kids and I lived at my mothers where we shared a bedroom for 3 months and had to sleep on the floor because our loan officer waited until XX/XX/2018 to tell us that she couldn't help us.
