I leased this car for two years and was making the payment for a year and 4 months. Due to unseen circumstances I was unable to make my payments in XX/XX/2021 until the time of the repo in XXXX. I was struggling with XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX and was in a very bad place and even ended up homeless for a few weeks. I understand I defaulted on my lease and the repossession was justified. For the last 2.5 years Ive waited and waited for this to hit my credit report and I wasnt ever able to see it until I paid for another site to view it. A few months after the repo I reached out to them via phone call, asked for the final bill on what I owed. They told me they didnt have it yet and would reach back out. I never heard anything from them again and decided to call a few months later, probably about 5 months after my repossession. They told me they had fixed some issues with the car and had sold the vehicle. I havent ever received any information from that day forward. They asked if I could settle that day, and instead of the XXXX and the change offered around XXXX to settle the account which I truly just couldnt do. From there I never received any phone calls, letters, emails, not a word from the account and Im clearly adult enough to know it doesnt just go away. I havent had the car in my possession for a year and a half but theyre still reporting to credit bureaus that theyre late payments instead of a full account I have to pay in full. Im not sure if this is legal, or normal if you get a repossession on a lease. But to my understanding when I called, they would send me a bill for the remaining balance I owed to the company and not continue to report late payments instead?
