Since XX/XX/XXXX, we received collection calls from Oak Ridge Direct Solutions in XXXX, NY for XXXX. We have repeatedly told the company that she does not live here. They did not stop calling and sometimes called three to four times a week with real people and robo calls. The company has a blocked number that does not show up on our call logs from XXXX but is evidenced by our caller id as coming from XXXX XXXX The number shows as XXXX.

On XX/XX/XXXX at XXXX, we received yet another call from the company as evidence by my caller ID. It was a robo call and again asked for XXXX. I listened to the call and called the company back. My call was answered by an employee named XXXX. My first question was, what do I have to do to make you stop calling. He replied that he would not stop calling. Then XXXX said something about XXXX and I said that I was not XXXX. He then asked who I was and I identified myself. He then rattled off my husbands name, address, age and social security number. When he said my husbands social security number and age, I was flabbergasted and scared. I immediately asked him if it was us or XXXX that he was calling for but could not get a word in edgewise. He started yelling and saying to have my lawyer call and he couldnt talk to me. He stated some statute or other and hung up. I called back several times to say who was the name on the debt collection because of him having my husbands social security number and age upset me very much. He kept hanging up on me and would not answer ; which finally I cursed him but he hung up. He did say that the calls were being recorded and I hope for my sake they were. I was never given the company name and address or any other information.

I called the next day and spoke to a woman employee of the company and told her what had happened the day before with XXXX. She said that she would bring this to her managers attention.

Needless to say this does nothing to reassure me about XXXX having my husbands information, especially my husbands social security number. I do realize that these types of companies have access to this information, however, I can take a real good guess that it is against the law under the New York Fair Debt Collection Practices Act of XXXX and they are not permitted to research peoples information that have nothing to do with a debt that they are handling.

I am also sure it is against the law to give me my husbands social security number since he may not have wanted me to have it and XXXX had no permission otherwise.

Now, XXXX, as their employee, has caused us untold XXXX and emotional distress ; not to mention the harassment that we have suffered for the past 16 months as he was the major caller to us. I suffer from XXXX and this has made things harder for me since XXXX has pulled my husbands social security number which caused intentional infliction of emotional distress. I am sure that my reaction does not surprise or astonish you in this day and age of so much fraud that is ruining peoples lives.

On my end, I immediately put a fraud alert on mine and my husbands credit report and immediately signed up for the only membership in XXXX that we could afford ; which is now putting an extra expense on my budget since both my husband and I are on XXXX XXXX XXXX.

In my letter to the company dated XX/XX/XXXX, sent regular and certified mail, I put them on notice that their recordings of my conversations are to be preserved as evidence in case of future litigation. The New York XXXX Court, in XXXX v XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ruled that " [ o ] nce a party reasonably anticipates litigation, it must suspend its routine document retention/destruction policy and put in place a litigation hold '' to preserve evidence. Also, Im going to guess again that under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act of XXXX, it is against the law that if they have litigation pending against this XXXX, that they should not be calling her in the first place.

The company has not responded but according to the United States Postal Service, the letter was delivered on XX/XX/XXXX.

Under the New York Fair Debt Collection Practices Act of XXXX, if a debt collector is found to have violated the FDCPA, the consumer is entitled to receive {$1000.00} in statutory damages, plus any actual damages that they have suffered, including emotional distress. I am considering litigation towards this company.

What are our rights for compensation under your statute for not only the scare of illegally obtaining my husbands social security number but the stress that this whole thing has put us under as well as the financial expense it is now causing us?

On XXXX XXXX XXXX at XXXX XXXX ( MDT ), I received a phone call on my cell phone from XXXX . I did n't answer it. At XXXX XXXX , I received another phone call on my cell phone from the same number. This time the caller left a voice message. The message was not for me, but another person. The message denoted if the debtor ( not me ) did n't contact them, then they would n't be able to work out something on their restitution. The message denoted failure to contact would result in " legal papers '' being delivered on XXXX XXXX XXXX . Note : I know for a fact the debtor does n't owe restitution, nor has ever been convicted of a crime. I called the phone number and a man 's voice answered the phone with " Mr XXXX XXXX . '' There was no denotation of the name of the firm or this was an attempt to collect a debt. However, I explained I am not the person they are trying to reach. I asked for them to stop contacting me. I provided my cell phone number and was assured I would n't be called. At XXXX XXXX , I received a phone call from an " hidden '' phone number. I did n't answer the phone. The caller left a message that the legal papers will be served on tomorrow ( XXXX XXXX ) between XXXX and XXXX XXXX . They further stated they believed I would be at work, and so they would go there after stopping at my home. At work, they stated they would seek out and talk with my supervisor. Note : This is the second time this same sequence of events occurred with this firm. The first time the firm refused to provide me with their name or address. However, I now have their information. I called back and talked with Mr. XXXX . Although the second message was a continuation of the first message, Mr. XXXX denied his firm called. Mr. XXXX wanted to know how I knew the debtor. Mr. XXXX stated my name and number was provided by the debtor. I advised Mr. XXXX talking to me about this other debtor was a violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. Mr. XXXX immediately hung up. I called back and was hung up on immediately. After several attempts ( to have them agree to stop calling me ), the phone was answered by the same voice who left the second message ( after I had asked them to not call me ) on the hidden number and identified himself as " XXXX XXXX . '' I explained hiding who they were violated the FDCPA, this person stated the FDCPA did n't apply as they were not " attempting to collect a debt. '' I asked what this was concerning, and he denoted they " prepare and serve legal paper for other firms. '' He hung up, when I disputed the premise the debtor gave them my name and phone number. After several further attempts ( t o have them agree to stop calling me ), the phone was answered by a man 's voice who identified himself as a " Managing Director '' of their " law firm. '' I explained I called and asked politely to have them not call me. The firm responded I have never nicely called their firm. He denied using his firm uses " hidden '' numbers and attempts to collect debts with third parties. However, he refused to stop calling me as he stated this is n't a debt collection attempt. I asked what this is concerning then, and he stated his firm prepares and serves legal papers on consumer debt. When I pointed out that is " debt collection '' he hung up on me. When I called back, I was hung up immediately. Then, I called back and immediate ly ( mostly likely because of caller id ) they fully identified me, gave me my full address, told me parts ( off the internet ) of my life, and threatened to contact the Sheriff 's Office un less I stopped calling them XXXX trying to ascertain this firm 's actual identity ). They then hung up on me. I called a few more times and was immediately hung up on. Then, the call went to a voice message machine from which I learned the firm 's actual name.

A secretary at my job intercepted a phone call from a XXXX XXXX. XXXX XXXX asked to speak to the principle of the school I work in reference to a legal matter regarding me. The secretary simply forwarded the call to me. When she did so, XXXX XXXX repeatedly told me that he was going to come to the school and " remove '' me. He would give me no explanation as to what was happening, where I would be going or why? He simply implied that he was some form of legal person and would have a police officer with him to " remove '' me from my job. Obviously, this scared me to the point of a XXXX XXXX. I had no idea what he was referring to since he would tell me nothing except that he would be arriving with an officer to " remove '' me from my job. I asked if there was someone that I could talk to that could tell me what was happening. At that point, XXXX XXXX gave me XXXX XXXX 's phone number ( XXXX ) and said that I could call him. I called XXXX XXXX and he told me that I was to be charged in Pennsylvania with bouncing checks for defaulting on payments due this company. He proceeded to tell me that I would have XXXX counts. Each count could get me {$1000.00} fine and 30 days in jail unless I made arrangements to pay this debt from 2012 immediately. I explained that I had no money at this time and was still having financial issues. XXXX XXXX said that he would be able to stop XXXX XXXX from coming to my job if I could make a {$200.00} payment the next day and then {$480.00} by the end of month. I expressed my concern that I would not be able to get the money but XXXX XXXX simply told me if it was n't paid, I could choose a different payment arrangement but it would cost me double the amount. I agreed and gave someone my bank card info because I believed that a constable would come to my job and take me away for check charges. Additionally, the only part of the call that I was told was being recorded was the part where I agreed to pay the payments when I was transfered from XXXX XXXX 's extension to another. After calming down and researching on the internet, I realized that XXXX XXXX and XXXX XXXX threatened me and used incorrect information to scare me into paying them immediately, simply adding to my stress and financial difficulties. Additionally, I am not sure that I owe this particular debt. I called XXXX XXXX back around XXXX and told him that I needed a letter of verification but have heard nothing in response. I have had to repeatedly tell " someone '' and fax a letter demanding that they stop contacting my job over the last 6 months. My job does n't allow personal calls at work and they are getting tired of funneling calls regarding my personal financial woes. I do n't know how to stop them from calling my job, speaking to various people regarding my personal business matters ( NOT allowed ) and harassing me in this fashion.

My son received a call from someone claiming to be an attorney. Saying there was an outstanding debt owed and a lawsuit and they were going to levy bank account. So he returned call. They said there was a bank debt and repeated same thing they said in Voice m ail. Then the only information they gave him was birthdate. It was my birthdate not his he told them not his. He is The XXXX and XXXX they were looking for me I 'm XXXX XXXX . They just hung up on him. He told me about what they said. Problem is all my credit accounts are paid and closed. Except fo r my 2 cars which are current. So I googled number found a few people said scammers so I decided to call their number because I knew of no debt no lawsuit and figured is a scam because why did n't they call me creditor would have phone number and ca n't have lawsuit without being served. Plus I 've been in contact via mail with all my creditors last year ev ery one some 2 and three times to close accounts. So I called and wow they picked up o n two rings. Did n't identify themselves or company. I asked who is this then they said who is this you called. I said I want to know whose number this is and then gentleman hung up. I 'm pretty sure it 's a scam but figured after calling and refusing to identify who they were definitely a scam so I wanted to file Complaint I figured CFPB could pull phone number and find if was a legitimate business. Their number was XXXX . There are to many scammers and if this is like I think a scam I might be helping others.

On XXXX XXXX, 2017, I received multiple phone calls from Oakridge Direct Solutions ( " Oakridge '' ) on my cell phone at XXXX attempting to collect a debt for a third person. I asked them to remove my cell phone ( verbally, via email, and via written correspondence ). Oakridge violated the FDCPA multiple times ( e.g. attempting to collect a debt with a bystander, feigning the debt arose from criminal activity, failing to give a FDCPA warning, using hidden phone numbers to collect said debt, denying they are attempting to collect a debt, and lying about legal papers and processes ). See Recording ( attached ) XXXX ( Screenshot_XXXX ) and XXXX ( Screenshot_XXXX ). Ergo, I filed a complaint with your office. See Complaint XXXX.

On XXXX XXXX, 2017, Oakridge again called my cell phone at XXXX still attempting to collect a debt on this third person. See XXXX ( Screenshot_XXXX ). Oakridge left a message to call XXXX. I called and received a message this number is not valid, or no longer in service. However, when I had others call - then they receive a message they reached Oakridge.

Plainly, this is telephone harassment as Oakridge continues to call and leave messages with me knowing they have enacted measures to stop me from contacting them.

I continue to receive phone calls that are automated requests seeking debt collection for my sister. My sister does not live with me in XXXX , TX. I initially passed this information along to the collection agency, but they have n't stopped calling me. The latest phone call was today, XXXX XXXX , XXXX , and I receive about XXXX calls a week unless I call back to complain. Then they do n't call me for another XXXX weeks before it 's XXXX times a week until I call them back, repeat and do it again. The phone number calling me is XXXX XXXX . The lawyer in charge of this account is named XXXX XXXX . He is a smarmy XXXX who thinks that since an automated system is calling me, and not XXXX XXXX himself, that he should n't respond to my requests that he stop harassing me.
