Received letter in the mail from XXXX XXXX XXXX claiming they were a third party trying to collect a debt originally owed to XXXX XXXX but their current client is Novea Prtfolio Management LLC for {$570.00} but they would accept {$110.00} to resolve the issue. I have never had an unpaid debt and have never interacted with either of these companies. There is no additional information about the debt other than the statute of limitations on collecting the debt is expired. A search of the internet and the XXXX complaint database show hundreds of complaints for this company trying to collect debts from people that do not own the money, often followed up by harassing phone calls, though I have not yet experienced this as I just received the letter. This is the the text from the letter : XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. On XXXX/XXXX/XXXX I received a call while at work from an unidentified person claiming a loan needed to be paid on that day otherwise there would be consequences beyond her control which I would be responsible for. While on my lunch break, I received a text stating that my roommate received a call stating that police officers were at our residence ready to arrest me for passing bad checks. I immediately called my bank and asked them to freeze the account, and also called the police department only to find out from the dispatcher that they needed the officers name and badge number in order to expedite the call. I took off from work so that I could get more information. I contacted my roommate and he stated he received a call that police were outside our house and when he called the number, he was given further details that I had passed bad checks and the police were going to arrest me. My roommate did not pretend to be me, yet he was given the information as if he were privileged to know my personal business. I received a call the next day by a person claiming to represent loanme and was also informed that she had contacted my son, my exhusband, my work, and my landlord in addition to my roommate, all of whose numbers were not released to them by me. I did n't even know my roommates number until the day before. She again threatened me that they needed an answer today otherwise they were calling the police back to my residence to arrest me. I repeatedly told her that I could not afford to pay and that I had n't even paid rent. She assured me that it was not personal, and she empathized but persisted that payment needed to be arranged otherwise I would go to jail for writing XXXX bad checks and based upon the information she had and her knowledge of the laws in the state of California that I would definitely be serving time unless I could afford a good lawyer, but I would still be in debted to the lawyers fees, court fees, and the debt as well as jail time, therefore rent would no longer be as important as securing my freedom. Under extreme duress I agreed to have the money taken out of my account, but after contemplation, if I do n't even have the money to pay, how does this free me from NOT defrauding them? Your representative 's solution appeared to bait me in to serving time in prison as well as getting into further debt

XX/XX/ received odd phone call from *restricted* number stating I had a pending court hearing with XXXX County on XX/XX/ @ XXXX and they were wondering why I hadn't responded to papers that I was attending the hearing. When I asked for information they provided only the agency who supposedly filed the dispute XXXX ( XXXX ) XXXX and a file number of XXXX. XX/XX/ I contacted XXXX ( XXXX XXXX XXXX ) and spoke with XXXX XXXX at XXXX. XXXX. I requested verification of the debt along with the original account number. XXXX informed he was not required to provide any verification of the debt via mail or any other type of medium. He couldn't provide any additional information about debt but then generated a quick email about debt verification. He told me the original creditor and the agency that had the debt previously -- XXXX. The dollar amount of the debt was {$720.00}. I offered to settle the debt for {$500.00} on the spot and he countered with {$580.00}. I requested to talk to the original creditor and also XXXX to validate everything. He said ok and to give a call back. XX/XX/ I contacted original credit card vendor XXXX and they provided phone number for XXXX whom they sold the debt to. Contacted XXXX and spoke with XXXX. Told her about the phone calls and was seeking verification of the debt and next steps. She offered to take payment immediately on the phone of {$500.00} and to contact XXXX and pull the account back and mark as closed. I received a confirmation and approval email letter after submitting the {$500.00} payment. XX/XX/ received phone call from XXXX at XXXX. Told XXXX that the debt has been settled with XXXX. He was irate telling me I had no right to work with XXXX and then hung up on me. XX/XX/XXXX received second phone call from XXXX at XXXX. Message stated that " 2-3 weeks ago he mailed me documentation of the debt and verification but that I refused to sign for the documents or never responded '' he went on to say " if I refuse to contact him by XXXX on that he would presume I am refusing to cooperate and he would begin preliminary actions against ''

There is an item on my credit report that I am unclear on. It is showing that the creditor is XXXX and is reporting as a charge-off with a balance of {$0.00}. I disputed this account with the 3 major credit bureaus, XXXX, XXXX, and XXXX. I requested on various occasions that they investigate the item and provide me with details of their investigation. To date, I have never received a response from these bureaus, so I am still not clear as to what this item is. I decided to send dispute letters directly to XXXX. My first letter to them was dated XX/XX/XXXX and I asked to see the following items : * The complete original alleged promissory note that shows my signature * The account transaction history * Any required default or acceleration notices * The notice of sale document * The Calculation of Surplus or Deficiency letter * Any additional finance contracts including those related to insurance or finance products * The buyers guide * The purchase order * Any license, bond or registration document required by the state that allows you to hold or service this alleged promissory note I did not received any of these items. I received a response on XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX saying they did not conduct an investigation as they said they can not assist with the resolution. They stated Buyers Holding LLC is claiming to now own the debt and XXXX can not assist with any resolution. Therefore the account can not be verified as accurate reporting since it is still reporting as XXXX XXXX XXXX. This is my second time attempting to dispute this account as the CFPB has sent me a letter trying to also stall the removal of this account reporting on my report. I will submit my email address along with this complaint as requested by the CFPB. Please ensure this account is expeditiously removed from my report as it continues to damage my credit score.

I have previously requested that an item on my credit report listed under XXXX be investigated. In my CFPB Complaint ID # XXXX submitted XX/XX/2022, I stated that I had not received a response from your company with the results of my investigation requesting to verify the accuracy of this account. Your response to me was dated XX/XX/2022 and you stated : -Per your previous request to conduct a reinvestigation, we contacted the data furnisher and asked them to verify the accuracy of the information with which you disagree. -If you question the results of our dispute process, you may also contact the furnisher of information directly. I did as you told me, and I submitted a complaint to XXXX on XX/XX/2022 CFPB Complaint ID # XXXX. In their response, XXXX stated that any further questions or concerns regarding the loan should be referred to Buyers Holdings , LLC. I then filed a complaint against Buyers Holdings , LLC on XX/XX/2022 CFPB Complaint ID # XXXX and Buyers Holdings , LLC stated they have not reported any trade line with any bureau pertaining to the complainant and encouraged me to resolve the matter directly with the Credit Bureau and the Financial Institution that has " allegedly '' filed the trade line.

I had an Old account with cash call that was sold to a completely different 3rd party company and a completely different scam company started to call me almost 5 times a day and began calling my references and family members who were never listed as references. The person named XXXX was threatening me with legal action and was very aggressive and rude. I dont feel i should have to tolerate any kind of harassment from anyone for a past due account. I think i would be better off filing for bankruptcy at this point because i cant afford to pay this bill at this time.
