On XX/XX/2019, I woke up with a knock on my door from two local law enforcement officers. They informed me that a family member had called in and wanted someone to stop by the house to " check on me '' after several family members had received several calls from a lady named, XXXX XXXX, who was requesting to verify my identity information such as my SSN, location, employment whereabouts, and other identifying factors. Immediately, I retrieved my phone and had several text messages from my dad, sister, and brother who had all received calls and voicemails from this individual stating that she was needing this information. My brother reported that he was contacted by her twice. I, myself, also had one missed call and voicemail from Ms. XXXX postmarked at XXXX on XXXX XXXX. She at time, threatened, that she needed to verify my information through a third party including my previous employer if unable to contact me and shortly began harassing my family members for information thereafter. I'm uncertain if she contacted my employer or not as that is the employer I no longer work with, When I contacted Ms. XXXX, she informed me that she was a representative with Northtown Capital Services Group who was assisting a debt collector, XXXX XXXX XXXX, to obtain some past due money owed to an original creditor called XXXX XXXX. She informed that I should've received a letter from her agency in which I did not. She also threatened that a certain amount was owed or a judgement would be pursued against me. Her whole approach appeared to be threatening and harrassing in nature in order to obtain funds. She informed me the only way to stop the judgement would be to set up a payment arrangement through her. I have no issue paying my past dues if I would have received information from the original creditor and I have not. I feel my rights were extremely violated and that threatening and harassing means were utilized in order to obtain a debt which not only impacted myself but also caused extreme fear, stress, and worry in my family who had no idea what was going on.

On XX/XX/2021 I received a generic voicemail asking for my current address and employment. The voicemail did not disclose what the purpose of the call was for or why the info was needed. On XX/XX/2021 I received another voicemail from XXXX XXXX who asked the same questions and did not state the reasons why the personal info was needed. That same day a couple of friends and family members reported getting voicemails from XXXX XXXX asking the same questions about me. On XX/XX/2021 I tried to call the number from a blocked number to try to find the name of the company. XXXX answered and did not disclose the company name. I ended the call. She immediately called back and left a voicemail asking me to call her back letting me know the call was ended even though the number was blocked. I filed a complaint with the XXXX on XX/XX/2021. One XX/XX/2021 I left XXXX a voicemail requesting a call back requesting the name of the company and the nature of the call. On XX/XX/2021 I called since I have not heard from her. The director, XXXX XXXX, answered the phone and proceeded to tell him since I filed a complaint with the XXXX he would not talk to me. He said he responded to the XXXX. I checked the XXXX and he did respond on XX/XX/2021 and it stated I could call him and he would be more than happy to explain what is going on, but yet when I call today he refused to provide any info. I have no idea why this company is calling me since they refuse to speak with me and no letter has been mailed.

I was contacted by Northwest Capital Services at the beginning of XX/XX/2019. They called my mom and friend stating that I needed to call them back because of legal action that could be taken. They wouldnt disclose further information. They were attempting to get phone numbers and addresses from both mom and friend. I called the company directly and was told they were trying to collect a debt that had been given to them from XXXX for failure to pay. I was behind in my payments on this. I was told that if I didnt make some payment today or arrangement to pay that I would be served papers at home or work and would be taken to court for failure to pay and could have my wages garnished. They said making a payment would stop this from happening as long as I made an arrangement. I did NOT know I needed to receive something in writing ( I never did XXXX and did not know I could dispute. I told them I couldnt pay all of it and they were forceful about collecting. Im still in a payment agreement with them of {$230.00} twice a month ( which is financially draining ) because I never received information pertaining to the debt and was unaware that this was an unfair collection practice. Once I agreed they sent an email with a document for me to sign online. I signed this because, again, I was not aware I had any other option and didnt want to be sued. Im still in an agreement with this company and had no idea I could even dispute this.

So a woman claiming her name was XXXX XXXX called me this morning and left a message for me to return her call at this number XXXX which is fine normal collection practices. Right after she contacts my mom ( no big deal ) who contacts me and gives me her info. My mom then informs me that the agent XXXX XXXX told her that she just spoke with XXXX XXXX ( my fathers wife ) who would not have been my reference. She told my mom that XXXX verified my address in an attempt to get my mom to disclose information as well. So I called Ms. XXXX who was very rude. She disclosed to me with no authentication my entire social and went on to tell me how she has contacted XXXX and XXXX ( my ex husband and his dad ) to whom I havent spoke to in 10 years. Lastly before hanging up on me she blatantly advised that my credit score will be damaged. This is very disturbing all across the board as she is obviously using the internet and digging up people who I do not even associate with and havent in years, people I did not use as references and calling them and the worst part is that she is freely giving out my identifying information address social etc. I beg please look into this companies collection practices.

Company : Northtown Capital Services Group LLC Representative : XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX : XXXX Company Phone : XXXX Issue : Repeated calling, calling relatives and associates, calling after being told to send correspondence by mail, refusing to identify the organization calling Hello, I have had repeated calls from relatives stating this person from this company has been calling and asking to verify information about me. This is a direct violation of the FDCPA. I have received a phone call myself and told this person I would not verify who I was until I knew to whom I was speaking. This person stated they would not do so because it was a " private matter '. I then told them to send any correspondence to any address they had on record and to not call me any longer. They immediately proceeded to call any person with whom I have associated asking for verification on my whereabouts and contact information. This is a second violation of the FDCPA. I have never done business with this company and to my knowledge have no outstanding debt with them or anyone else at this time. Please send them a cease and desist order for phone calls. Thank you.

On XX/XX/XXXX I received a phone call from a debt collector who Identified herself but not her company via voicemail. I returned the phone call and after stating I was the party that they were looking for the female who answered proceeded to tell me this was about a debt and asked why I stopped paying the debt. She did not identify who she was with or the name of the company that originally owned the debt until I asked about it. While this was not a violation of FDCPA, she did fail to give notice that is is an attempt to collect a debt and any information obtained will be used for that purpose. The primary reason for the complain is a violation of FDCPA section 809 subsection a ) notice of debt ; contents. " Within five days after the initial communication with a consumer in connection with the collection of any debt, a debt collector shall, unless the following information is contained in the initial communication or the consumer has paid the debt, send the consumer a written notice containing -- " It has been 8 days since the initial communication and the collector has not sent notification. This is a clear violation of the FDCPA.

Northtown Capital Services Group contacted me in XXXX of XXXX. They informed me that I have a debt with a payday loan group called XXXXXXXX XXXX I had set up a payment plan with them and I forgot to electronically sign the payment plan. However, the next payday in XXXX, they charged my card for the payment plan that I had not signed. The company is now harassing my mother in order to get information about me. In XX/XX/2021, they called my mother 3 times, left voicemails, and when my mother called back, the representative from Northtown, XXXX XXXX, had given my mother information regarding my debt. This is completely unacceptable and against the law according to the Federal Trade Commission Act ( FTCA ) and the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act ( FDCPA ).
