I am a certified XXXX XXXX working for a non-profit. Over my years spent XXXX clients, I have witnessed several clients, especially seniors, being taken advantage of by XXXX XXXX XXXX. They do not explain the terms of the contract in terms that the consumer can understand. I often see that they allow their accounts to fall seriously past due before they even contact them to notify them of the client 's enrollment or to " negotiate '' a settlement.
From what I gather, XXXX XXXX XXXX takes money directly from their checking or savings account, and holds it in an escrow account until there is enough to " negotiate with creditors '' Meanwhile, they let the client 's credit accounts go delinquent for several months or years, thus destroying their credit. I imagine they do this to condition the creditors to accept settlement easier. In the case of seniors living solely off social security, National Debt as well as the creditors know that they can not garnish those types of earnings. It also seems that they only pay one creditor at a time. I called several times to get information on how exactly they use they money they receive from the client to pay their various creditors, and did not get any answers. The reps I spoke with directed all of my questions to their website.
I have called the company to have the terms and service works. It is incredibly high pressure and incredibly difficult to get clear answers from direct questions. They are very good at " spin ''.
Also, they claim to be very well reviewed and highly rated with the XXXX. After several internet searches, it seems like the reviews are incredibly polarizing ( love or hate ), without middle of the road reviews. One site either has all rave reviews and others are all negative. The language used in the reviews is incredibly repetitive and there are very few spelling or grammatical errors contained within the positive reviews. This is a major concern because it is my belief that many of these " great '' reviews are in fact false, fraudulent, do not pertain to the services they specifically offer, or are paid content. It seems that the reviews are sometimes reflective of the customer service they received on the phone, but not to the entirety of the debt relief services. The ability to control the market through carefully manipulated internet analytics is a growing concern to all consumers and needs to be addressed immediately.

I received an 'Important XXXX Notice ' ( I never received a XXXX notice ) on pink paper on XXXX/XXXX/2015 from a company that did not even put its name on the notice - I found it in the return address.
When I checked the XXXX, this company ( National Debt Group ) has had several complaints, and an 'F ' XXXX rating. An internet search brought up a plethora of complaints and actions against this company, including a Complaint pleading from the State of Oregon, that they were n't even set up as a corporation, nor were they registered as debt collectors.
I have no outstanding unpaid debt, so I have no idea what debt this is supposedly about. The 'Est. Creditor Balances ' = {$20000.00} according to them, with a settlement offer of {$10000.00}. I am sure that this is a scam to scare people into paying money that they do not owe. I BEG YOU to look into this company and do something about this. These kinds of places are a scourge on our society. If I was XXXX or not too smart, they could very easily have duped me into paying money that I do n't owe.
Thank you very much for all of your work!

We are told on phone that we are charged for carpet replacement while vacating the apartment complex. When we were vacating, we were told only a spot in one room needs to be replaced. However, it seems full house carpet replacement fees has been charged. We tried to obtain details of the charges but were denied and threaten to pay the full amount or else it will be reported to our credit history. We also tried reaching out over email but did not receive any response.
Date vacated : XX/XX/2021 Amount : ~ {$1200.00} ( we never received a bill, only a call from debt collector )

We received a letter - '' second notice '' from NDG ( National Debt Group, XXXX, TX ) proposing a debt settlement of {$11000.00} on a {$22000.00} credit card balance. There is no information about what credit card has such an outstanding balance. This is the 1st such notice. We have no such outstanding credit card balance on any card we have.
We have not and do not intend to respond to this letter.
