I received two e-mails from MPOWER Customers namely : 1. MPOWER Customer Success Team on Thu, XX/XX/XXXX Subject : We are sorry, your loan application was not approved Thank you for considering MPOWER Financing for your student loan needs. We have carefully reviewed your application. Unfortunately, we are unable to grant your request at this time for a full or partial amount. 2. MPOWER Customer Relations Team on Fri, XX/XX/XXXX Subject : Upload Your Documents for a Final Loan Decision Congratulations! You've successfully started your document submission for your conditionally approved loan application. All we need to make a final loan decision are these documents, and you're almost done : One reference and completion of the introductory quiz on student financing The reason for refusal is Delinquent past or present credit obligations with others. I need clarity from the consumer reporting agency ( or agencies ) listed in the attached letter that may have provided information that may have in whole or in part influenced the decision. Kindly advise as I am confused about the decision on my status for the MPOWER loan.

On XX/XX/2023, Mpower Financing placed a hard inquiry on my XXXX report that led to a drop in my credit score, negatively impacting my overall credit health. I filed an ID theft report with the FTC and formally wrote to Mpower Financing requesting detailed and specific information about what led to the hard inquiry. Even though it received my letter, the company refused to provide the information that I requested. Instead, it sent random emails to me claiming the inquiries were made in error. My credit score has remained same since it dropped as a result of the inquiry, though it sent me an email saying it had removed the hard inquiries. I needed the specifics of what exactly happened to enable me take actionable steps to prevent the recurrence of such fraudulent activities on my credit report. However, Mpower 's deliberate refusal to provide the information, as required by law, is making it practically impossible for me to take further action to secure my financial health.

On complain XXXX I asked MPower to clarify why I got a hard enquiry on my Credit Report. They send information about the date, but not about the hard inquiry. I have never requested a hard inquiry to be made on my Credit Score.
