I am writing to file a formal complaint against The Meadowbrook Legal Group regarding their unethical and deceptive practices. As a concerned consumer, I believe that their actions warrant investigation and appropriate action to protect other individuals from falling victim to their deceitful tactics.
On XX/XX/22, I entered into a contract ( acct # XXXX ) with Meadowbrook Legal Group, seeking assistance in settling my outstanding debts. As per the terms of our agreement, I started making auto-payments of {$1100.00} twice a month, with the understanding that these funds would be accumulated to enable your company to negotiate with my debtors and pay off my debts in due course. Additionally, I was advised by your representatives to cease payments on my credit cards and loans, under the belief that your services would resolve my financial issues. I hereby demand an immediate and full refund of the {$11000.00} I entrusted to this company. The following points outline the reasons for my complaint : Misleading Representation : The Meadowbrook Legal Group misled me with false promises and misleading representations during the initial consultation. They claimed to have a high success rate in negotiating with creditors and lowering debt amounts significantly. However, they failed to deliver on these promises, resulting in wasted time and financial losses.
Lack of Transparency : The company 's lack of transparency is concerning. They did not provide clear and detailed information about their fee structure, making it difficult for me to fully comprehend the costs associated with their services. Despite repeated requests for clarification, I was provided with vague and evasive responses, leaving me unsure of the total expenses involved.
Poor Communication and Customer Service : The Meadowbrook Legal Group demonstrated a consistent lack of communication and unresponsiveness. My attempts to reach out for updates on my case were met with delayed responses, if any at all. Their unprofessional behavior and disregard for customer satisfaction indicate a blatant disregard for their clients ' needs and concerns.
Failure to Deliver on Promised Results : Despite engaging their services for an extended period, The Meadowbrook Legal Group failed to achieve any significant progress in resolving my debts. They made promises of negotiating with creditors and reducing my debt burden, but there was no tangible outcome from their efforts. This failure not only wasted my time and money but also exacerbated my financial situation.
Based on the aforementioned grievances, I kindly request that the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau undertake a thorough investigation into the practices of The Meadowbrook Legal Group. I believe their actions violate consumer protection laws and warrant appropriate consequences to safeguard consumers from future harm. Additionally, I urge you to take appropriate measures to ensure that I am duly compensated for the financial losses incurred due to the company 's misconduct.
I appreciate your attention to this matter and your commitment to upholding consumer rights. I trust that the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau will take swift action to rectify the situation and hold The Meadowbrook Legal Group accountable for their deceptive practices.

I have initiated a complaint on XXXX in reference to my debt settlement account for for my 8 payments of {$280.00} dollars for the eight months I made in payments in the program. I was promised that a portion of money would go to escrow and I was told when I had canceled that I have absolutely none in escrow which is why I left because they did not settle any of my debts and I have been working with them for a year. They promised me that within 6-9 months my accounts would start to be settled, I have missed a few payments which they assured me it was ok but that it would only make my program END date longer, not until the very end did a Meadowbrook rep explain to me that it would cost me upfront fees first before a settlement is reached. Unlike other competitors backed by federal guidelines which will actually reach a settlement before anything gets paid. I was being frauded for upfront fees without any representation of which they also assured me as I was getting sued by a creditor that they would. Last minute they told me I had to file my own response with the court, So I had called again and explained again that I just wanted my money back. I was told I had XXXX cents in escrow and they even robbed me of my last dime and emailed that I had XXXX dollars now in escrow. They manipulate, rob, lie, and also after filing a complaint on here, they made me get on a recording saying that the amount to be refunded was the draft amount that I had asked to be skipped five days before my last payment BECAUSE i contemplated on leaving them for their bad services and practice, and XXXX knowing I filed a complaint on my {$280.00} times 8 months to be refunded back manipulated me into thinking this had to do with a totally different complaint I made prior to opening this complaint up with the CFPB. They aught to be ashamed of themselves. I am sickened they can sleep at night.

On XXXX I entered into an agreement with meadow brook legal group to handle my debts and represent me if I should be sued. Unbeknownst to me and due to deceptive marketing and advertisement tactics from XXXX XXXX who assured me the grand benefits of the program ensured me that my debts would be settled in 6-9 months and that skipping payment was ok if I experience any hardship. Little did I know they took upfront fees and that if I skipped payments it would pull from the previous months funds never aiming to pay off my debts. However, I was assured again that regardless if sued I would be getting the least legal advice and an attorney to give me legal advice on where to go next. The attorney in the program said he had no idea how to even file a court filing to contact meadowbrook as that is what I am paying for and even agreed that meadowbrook is deceptive in telling me they would help me as that was services I was paying for. However, every time I kept getting a different answer. After trying to get a refund I was told I only XXXX cents in reserves so that basically my only refund was the skipped payment of XXXX dollars and change which I still have not received. After 8 months of payments and no help they would not return my XXXX dollars in escrow because those are fees " rendered for services, '' My question is what services. Have they communicated more efficiently and told me they would not represent me I could have negotiated my own debt sooner. They also rushed me into signing my contract with manipulation and a notary to notarize a paper in a rushed manner as if I was taking too much time. I never felt so shammed in my life. Also, XXXX just called me one day out of the blue explaining how much this program could help me. I should have did more research but I trusted them as a " law group, ''

Three days ago I had a follow up call in response to a complaint from whom I thought was customer service at XXXX. I was hearing from a XXXX that is as far as I could hear from his mouth as he was speaking incredibly fast. I had beyond this point verbally complained prior to the CFPB complaint about a draft that was supposed be skipped as per my right because I could not afford the amount that month into the program. I was promised to get my money back but after two weeks of waiting I wound up getting this call from XXXX and unbeknownst to me I had no idea this had to do with the CFPB complaint so now I am forwarding an initial complaint on how XXXX handled this and frauded me again to manipulate me into thinking he was someone from Customer Service and manipulated me to sign an agreement of a refund of just the initial draft amount when it was XXXX separate complaints. They keep saying it has been responded to but no one reached out to me. I need governmental help this is a scammer and the business needs to be investigated and looked into further. I am telling you their practices are not okay. Taking advantage of innocent people, tricking them, not saying who they are upfront and manipulative. I am so scared. My resolution again is my XXXX payments made of {$280.00} into the debt settlement program for work that was not done and me having to settle my debt with the courts myself. They did not promise or represent me or handle any of my debts and customer service assured me they would. I have so many complaints by now and documentation of me having conversations with them through their own company promising me so many things that NEVER happened.

Meadowbrook legal Group has engaged in deceptive business practices. I hired Meadowbrook legal to settle debt. They rushed me to sign a contract, asked me to add money to a savings account for them to use as leverage. I was reassured multiple times by the sales rep that the only fee will be a {$89.00} admin fee every month. This savings account was hidden ( on another website called XXXX XXXX ) I found months later that they have been using 95 % of my funds to pay their made up fees ( retainer & service fee. ) They haven't provided me with any services to justify these charges and when I asked about for refund on the hidden fees they said they aren't refundable or reimbursable. Unknowingly, by paying these hidden fees it has put me further in debt. I thought I was saving for a settlement.
The fact that the fees are hidden in the contract plus being rushed to sign did not allow me the opportunity to make an informed decision before signing the contract. Meadowbrook legal group misled and concealed the fees in a way that made them difficult to notice even as they charged me, they haven't provided any service and I want a refund on these fees.
