Received a call to my personal cell phone that was intended for my husband from a " mediator '' on behalf of their client. The mediator stated she was calling for Miller, Davis and Peoples for a debt that my husband owed which is over 10 years old, proceeded to tell me that the statute of limitations still allows them to collect on this debt. I asked her why my husband had not been " served '' with court papers, and she responded that he had, but it was a bad address. Which I know to be completely false. As I searched online, I found this was a scam and dozens of people have been conned, I asked her if I could settle his debt on his behalf to see what she would say. She then placed me on a brief hold and responded " yes, you can settle his debt. '' At which point I told her I had searched online and found that this was a scam and that not only was I going to place a complaint with the FCC, but also with the XXXX and on the Consumer Finance Website for the government. She became very irate and screamed at me that they would " serve '' my husband with papers to collect this debt. She then hung up on me. She spoke very quickly, and I assume the company who does this, speaks in this manner so as to confuse and worry the people they are contacting. I am sure that there are elderly people who are receiving these types of calls and who are swindled for money. Luckily, I am not so easily persuaded or intimidated. The phone number she called from is XXXX. I also found a link to all of the complaints regarding this company : XXXXPlease stop these people from doing further harm to others!!!

I received a voice mail on XXXX/XXXX/XX/XX/2015 at XXXX XXXX from XXXX XXXX at Miller Davis & Peoples stating that I am involved in a civil matter that has been filed against me by their office, that this was a time sensitive matter, and I must contact them immediately. At no time in the voice mail message did XXXX XXXX state that this was an attempt to collect a debt and any information obtained would be used for that purpose, in violation of FDCPA 807 ( 11 ). I have not been served with a summons and complaint by this company. Because I work XXXX with a lot of collection scams, I was immediately suspicious and researched the company online. They appear to be a scam, so I do not feel comfortable returning their call to gather more information. However, I thought I would file a complaint just to be safe.

A " Law Firm '' named XXXX has called me XXXX in XXXX minutes leaving multiple messages stating that I will be taken to court if i do not call them back today. The number was XXXX and the messages were left by XXXX XXXX. I called back, no mini miranda, no verification of who I was ... she alleged that I owe money to a company for a magazine subscription which is 100 % not true. She threatened that I am being taken to court and read me the last XXXX of my social security number. As a former collector, I know that if this is not a scam, which it totally is, this agency has violated the FDCPA.
