On XX/XX/XXXX agent XXXX with Midwest Credit Bureau in XXXX, Kansas called my ex-husband at his place of employment to collect a medical debt I owe to Kansas XXXX XXXX from XX/XX/XXXX. My ex-husband gave me the number this agent called him from and I immediately called the agent back. My ex- husband is a XXXX XXXX XXXX and this agent called the office at his school during business hours and interrupted him from class to answer this call. This agent was extremely rude and threatening to my ex-husband and he was forced to take this treatment over the phone in front of his cXXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX even after my ex-husband explained that they are contacting him at his place of employment and they are no longer to be contacting him there. When I called this agent, I explained the same thing to him and he continued to tell me that he tracked my ex-husbands work number down in order to collect this debt and stated that he has a right to do that until the balance is paid, which is absolutely harassment, unprofessional and completely uncalled for over a {$600.00} medical bill. I also explained that I did not have any missed calls from that number on my phone and since it is my debt, they need to be contacting me directly. He stated they have tried several times to call me but I have no recent history of it on my phone 's call history. He then continued to make several threats to me that if I did not make the payment in full, they would take further necessary steps to collect my debt. When I asked him what he meant by " further necessary steps '', he refused to tell me and said he is not obligated to provide me with further explanation. I offered to make payments to them as I can and he tried to tell me payment plans were not an option. I continued to question this because I know my rights as a consumer and he then offered a payment plan that was not feasible or realistic for my current budget. I then offered to make a payment of {$50.00} today towards my total balance to start the process of making it right, and he refused to take this payment. When he refused my payment offer, I told him I would need to look at my budget and figure out if the payment plan they offered me would work and he told me I have 1 hour to call him back with a plan or he would ( again ) " take further necessary steps to collect my debt ''. At that time he stated that I either needed to make the payment in full, follow their payment plan within the hour, or again, he would " take further steps to collect my debt ''. Along with the threatening behavior, throughout the entire conversation this agent questioned what I spend my money on and even at one point told me that the government has provided me with plenty of money over the last year on top of my wages and should have had no issues paying this bill. Although I did not owe him this, I explained to him that I was unemployed for 3 months and the stimulus money we received went towards food and shelter for me and my child. Kansas XXXX XXXX is a hospital that I frequently go to, they have saved both my grandparents lives and helped me through many of my medical issues. My intentions are not ill. I always have the best intentions to pay my medical debt but the last year I have not only faced a pandemic along with the rest of the world, but I have been through a divorce, became a single mom, and unexpectedly lost my job and was unemployed for 3 months. I understand it is not the debt collectors job to give grace, but the way this situation was handled today was absolutely not okay.

I received a phone call from XXXX XXXX with Midwest Services Bureau in XXXXXXXX XXXX on XX/XX/2022. She called my work number, XXXX because she claimed she called my cell phone of XXXX. I had no missed calls and her number does not show up on my call log with my cell phone company, I checked. I explained to her that I was at work and please do not call the number again and that I would call her from my cell either during break or after I got off work. She got defensive that second I told her that I had no missed calls and continued to have that very rude attitude. She wanted an exact time of when I would call her back. I told her that I had no idea of when I would get a break. I don't work in an environment that will allow me to take breaks at specific times. She instantly got rude, raised her voice and stated that she would note the account that I had no intention of taking care of it. I, in turn, got defensive because at NO time during the conversation did I state that. And I asked her directly if that was what I said. She repeated it several times, that she would note that account that I had no intention of taking care of it. I think asked her name because I wanted to make sure and document that she was in fact lying because I never said those words. She ended up hanging up on me shortly after. I then called her back because at this point, I wanted it noted that I had in fact not stated that. She refused to speak to me until I confirmed my date of birth, and in fact yelled at me that she would not even discuss anything with me until then, which she definitely didn't ask for XXXX the first time she was rude and lied about what I said. I did curse one time at this point because I was frustrated that she was yelling, I couldn't get a word in and she refused to talk to me even though she was stating I had no intention of taking care of it. I told her I had literally just received their letter either Thursday, the XXXX of XXXX or Tuesday, XX/XX/XXXX and that I was unsure if I did in fact owe all of that as I had had issues with XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX in the past. Therefore, I hadn't even had a chance to dispute so I could go through EOBs. I then told her that I was pretty sure I had 30 days after the date on their letter to file a WRITTEN dispute letter. She was still yelling and said " Are you disputing it? '' I again, stated that it was to be in writing. She continued to yell and wanted me to confirm I was disputing it. I did state yes, I was disputing it as I wanted time to go through my EOBs. I have never had someone who should be in a position to assist others to speak to me in such a rude way. Yelling, lying, etc. at individuals on the phone is certainly not going to achieve the desired result they are looking for, which is resolving a debt for their clients. In fact, due to the way she spoke with me, I will likely bypass her and this company completely and if this is a legit debt, pay the debtor themselves directly. There are multiple, MULTIPLE 1 star reviews of this company online. Almost every one of them discuss how rude and unprofessional this company and their representatives are. I wouldn't say she used any obscene language but very abusive for sure ; yelling, demanding I say certain things, etc. I will not tolerate that from any individual, especially not one who has no idea if it's even a valid debt.

On XXXX XXXX XXXX I received a call from Midwest Service Bureau out of XXXX, Ks. Keep in mind XXXX somehow got hold of my mother cell number calling her about my medical debts with them. How he got my moms number I have no clue! But I think its wrong for them to be contacting anyone else other then the person this bill is issued too. In other words as of XXXX XXXX XXXX while I was on the phone I spoke with a guy named XXXX. I have a bill with them for XXXX XXXX XXXX in XXXX, Ks in the amount of XXXX. During this call I had went on to tell XXXX XXXX had sent them a letter in the mail about a month and half prior to this date in this letter stating when I could pay and how much I could afford which is XXXX bucks a month. XXXX went on to tell me I could n't make payments of XXXX dollars a month because of how much the bill is. He then went on to tell me the furtherest they would go is a 18 month payment plan of XXXX a month which being the only one in the house working at the moment I can not afford XXXX a month. He then went on to basically harass me saying if I cant pay the XXXX a month then I need to go get a consolidated loan from the bank I have an account with! I spoke with my bank today XXXX XXXX XXXX where I was told I could not get a loan due to I have several medical bills Im making payments on. If I paid them XXXX Id have no money to survive on or pay my other bills and medical bills with. I talked with XXXX today XXXX XXXX XXXX and had addressed to him what the bank told me and was further told that the best he could do is make it where I pay XXXX a month and I still cant even afford that much a month. Ive told him time and time again I cant afford more then XXXX bucks a month the XXXX of every month but he seemed not interested in what I could afford so that I can still make a living and survive. For him to suggest a loan from the bank is only because then they dont have to worry bout the money anymore cause they would have gotten the full amount and Id be stuck paying back more to the bank then what the bill they have on my account is worth. The people at Midwest Service Bureau are only interested in the full amounts or high payment that most people who live paycheck to paycheck cant afford! I told XXXX Id try and make a payment the XXXX of this month due to the XXXX is a holiday but Im only sending what I can afford and I will be keeping all my receipts as proof that Im trying and not just ignoring the bill so if they try to sue me or take me to court I have some good ground to stand on with the judge on paying what I as an average class citizen can afford. Id like for these types of problems to be addressed to companies like this who are only interested in full amounts and if you cant do the full amounts they go on to give you some bogus advice to go get loans just to end up in more debt. Then they go on to tell you that they cant accept what u can afford to do even though your trying its never enough for them.

XXXX XXXX with Midwest Service Bureau ( Collection Agency located in XXXX, KS ) has been harassing me for the last XXXX months regarding my medical bill that was sent to them by Kansas XXXX XXXX. He calls me multiple times a day at all hours and throughout the weekends as well. I had attempted to set up a payment plan with them and through what appears to have been a misunderstanding that I have attempted to resolve with him politely and professionally only to be verbally abused, threatened, and talked down upon in each of our conversations that have led to nothing. He uses highly inappropriate language often cursing throughout our conversations completely unnecessary and seems to think that it is okay to say that the entire situation is my fault because I had ignored my unpaid balance for so long that it must be taken care of immediately by actually setting a deadline for me of XXXX days to do whatever it takes including calling family members, friends, charitable organizations, co-workers, etc. to loan me the money that I owe HIM. He claims to work for Kansas XXXX XXXX by saying theyve hired him to collect the debt for them as if he himself is going to personally send the funds directly to them upon receipt. He also claims there have been multiple Representatives that have tried to work with me to no avail, yet I have only ever spoken to him and have never communicated with anyone else at the company. This medical expense originated from a diagnosis of an XXXX XXXXXXXX and emergency hospital stay that lasted over a week. I was unemployed at the time due to XXXX and upon my diagnosis, was unable to work full-time for 6 months. I am also currently going through a lengthy and costly divorce that started back in 2019 and has yet to be completed- this has brought even more financial hardship. I am just now able to start catching back up financially. XXXX XXXX behavior is unacceptable and I will be filing a police report.

On XX/XX/2018, I filed a complaint regarding the unprofessional conduct at Midwest Service Bureau with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. While completing the complaint I inadvertently activated the auto-fill feature on the family computer which auto-populated the address and changed the name from XXXX XXXX to XXXX XXXX XXXX. In the initial complaint number XXXX that I filed a complaint against Midwest Service Bureau due to their unethical conduct. Specifically, the clear conflict of interests in accepting accounts that Midwest Service Bureau engages in and the coercive positions it places consumers in. In my initial complaint, I made a reasonable request that Midwest Service Bureau close the account due to the conflict of interest. Their response was nothing more than defamatory and libelous statements provided to the consumer financial protection bureau without providing any response to the request to close the account or an answer to the dispute. Additionally, not only do the statements about my son not only have nothing to do with the heart of the complaint the statements are both unconscionable and highly irregular. As such, the statements provided to Midwest Service Bureaus response both make a mockery of complaint process with the consumer financial protection bureau as well as show a clear need for federal and state oversight. Finally, it would appear that I do not have the same rights as any other consumer when it comes to filing a complaint with the appropriate regulatory agency. I say this because I filed a complaint against Midwest Service Bureau and instead of addressing the actual allegations Midwest Service Bureau instead engaged in frivolous assaults on my son. Does this mean that I can not make a complaint regarding unethical behavior without having to fear retribution against me or my family?

I have a medical debt that was referred to Midwest Service Bureau. Per my request, I had my son contact the doctor to advise it would be paid on or before XX/XX/XXXX, as the debt is disputed and if my insurance did not pay more, I would take care of the bill on or before the XXXX of XXXX. I had my son attempt to contact Midwest Service Bureau on XX/XX/XXXX after he spoke to the original creditor and came to an arrangement with them. Even though I was still within my 30 day validation period I was coerced by Midwest Service Bureau because of their policy that they sue all former employees and relatives of former employees. My son contacted Midwest Service Bureau and spoke with XXXX XXXX and XXXX XXXX and attempted to tell them that the account was disputed that they did not have to give him any information but in align with the XXXX decision, he simply wanted to vocalize the dispute and offered to tell them on voicemail. As he was telling XXXX XXXX this, she hung up on him a clear violation both of the XXXX decision. If it were not for this coercive policy of taking all relatives of former employees to court that took away might rights guaranteed under both FDCPA and the Kansas Consumer Protection Act, I would not feel so pressured to come up with this money. I have come up with an agreement with the holder of the account, but it does not excuse the abusive collection tactics employed by Midwest Service Bureau and its agents. Further, the fact that I am being coerced into paying this due to my son 's being a former employee shows that there was a clear conflict of interest in this case. When the account was turned to Midwest Service Bureau they should have sent it back because of the conflict of interest instead of engaging in the coercive and discriminatory techniques that they regularly engage in.

We have a bill from XXXX in XX/XX/XXXX from a anesthesiologist. It should of been sent to the insurance company and didnt know we had a bill until roughly a month or so ago when the collections agency ( Midwest Service Bureau ). The XXXX person that called me at work was XXXX XXXX by far the most unprofessional rude person I have ever talked to. She was raising her voice telling me she knew we had money and that we could pay the payment of {$75.00} a month. I told her I could n't do that right now just not possible. I can for sure give you {$25.00} maybe more each month but {$25.00} for sure. She said that was not acceptable and would n't accept my {$25.00}. Comes to find out she had called my wife just before that and ran her completely down to the point of her almost crying at her job. The stuff she said to my wife should of never been said. Talked to a XXXX lady who I believe was the manager XXXX XXXX. She was nice the first time and told me what XXXX offered wasnt correct and that it had to be XXXX payments but would do the {$75.00} since it was offered. Told her Id get back with her and see if they would settle for XXXX. Got a call back and said they wouldnt told her Id see what I could do. Got a call back a week later told her I had nothing but could give {$25.00} She insisted that wont work and its {$75.00} or full amount or they will take it to the next step. She this time was rude just like the last person. I have never been talked to like that and wouldnt wish it on anyone. My wife should of never been talked down to and ran into the ground like she was. I was kind of rude when the lady got rude on the phone the last time but what to you expect when you treat someone like XXXX.

XX/XX/2019 Midwest Service Bureau XXXX Kansas XXXX, They tried to call and collect a debt I owe I tried to set up payments again, and the lady told me because I only owed XXXX they would not accept XXXX payments so she said to either pay the whole thing today or threatened to garnish my wages. She continued to say that if I could not pay the entire amount to find someone to borrow the money from because they were tired of waiting! I talked to the rude representative on multiple occasions and had made an effort to setup XXXX payment arrangements and she stated they would not accept less than the entire payment each time I offered to setup payments! I am working on filing bankruptcy and told her this again and she said if I could not give her his name and prove that I had retained the attorney that they did not care and would pursue legal action. At the time I could not start the process because of a paper the lawyer requested. So he did not want me to pay him until he determined what type bankruptcy to file. And the rude representative laughed and said she did not care and would start legal action. She argued me that I never tried to setup payments and said she could back through records proving that I never attempted to setup payments and I told her go ahead and look and she said she was the only one you spoke with and stated I never offered to make a payment!

I have a collection agency ( Midwest Service Bureau ) trying to collect a debt that is still tied up in a Medicaid appeal. I forwarded Midwest Service Bureau the directions and explanation by the State of Kansas to return this debt to the creditor ( XXXX ) and have the creditor ( XXXX XXXX XXXX. ) file the claim with the State of Kansas Medicaid. I have also requested Midwest Service Bureau remove the negative on my XXXX credit reports while this debt is returned to the creditor 's responsibility ( XXXX XXXX XXXX. ) to file with the State of Kansas Medicaid. In reply I received a handwritten letter from Midwest Service Bureau dated XXXX XXXX, that I have until XXXX XXXX to contact them ( Midwest Service Bureau ) in paying this debt. Midwest Service Bureau also enclosed a very unprofessional billing that appears to be a old bill from the creditor itself. ( XXXX XXXX XXXX. ) But there is large areas blacked out by a marker or something to hide something. Then below is a list of + and - dollar amounts that have no explanations. I requested a debt validation and this is what I received along with the XXXX XXXX deadline to contact Midwest Service Bureau. And no street address given. Just a XXXX XXXX XXXX

I am being contactedby the company to resolve a medical bill from XXXX. The bill is XXXX dollars. I told them I was unemployed and couldn't pay andthey said either borrow it from family or my credit report would be heavily damaged. This was in XX/XX/XXXX. I received another phone call today XXXX XXXX, and I told them I amnow self employed and just started a contract. They told me either pay the balance or they'll call my wife. I told them she doesn't work, and they said that i have to pay the full balance today, or my credit will be negatively reflected and I'll losemy business. I asked to speak to a manager to dispute the debt. I told them I've never received paperwork and I want a copy of the recorded call, they said I haveno right to it. They also said they don't have to follow the law andthey do not have to allow payments below the full amount. I offered to pay XXXX now, and they said either the full balance or iwill be sued. This is a very shady business and I feelmy rights under the fair debt collection practices act were violated.

At XXXX on XX/XX/17 a number that I no longer own was contacted by Midwest Service Bureau . The representative asked for me, and the person that answered the phone said she was not with me. The rep tried to gain a valid number, and the person that answered did not provide the requested information. The representative asked if she was my wife, and she said yes. This woman is my ex girlfriend, not my wife. The representative released what company she worked with, my first and last name, last known street address, the amount in collections, and that it was a collections account. There was no verification before releasing this information, only " Yes '' when asked if she was my wife. The rep proceeded to try to bleed money out of my ex, and she felt personally insulted with the things that were said. After reviewing the company 's XXXX page, I am not the first person this has happened to. This situation is sickening.

Midwest Service Bureau continues to call me on my cell phone after I told them they do not have permission to contact my cell phone in violation of the TCPA. I then ordered them to Cease & Desist calling and they continued to not only call my cell phone after being ordered not to they contacted my mother who I do not live with and lives in a completely different town. They disclosed my private health information to her without my permission ( violation of HIPPA ) and continue to call her despite my telling them to cease and desist ( harassment, violation of FDCPA ). Additionally, I have never received any validation notice regarding these accounts, I attempted to tell their collector that the bills were a result of a criminal action and I was a victim of a crime but they have not marked the debt as disputed ( as required under the FCRA ) and continue to attempt to contact me and my family about these bills.

XXXX XXXX has called me from Midwest XXXX agencies. I have spoke with him and tried to settle the debt but he wouldnt give me accurate information. The numbers just do not add up. He also contacted my previous employer as well as my current employer and my girlfriend harrassing us. I have told them repeatedly i am on the national do not call registry and he still continues to call. He told my boss information that was private and hurt my employment which eventually lead to me having to leave the company. I am sick and tired of being harrassed by this same individual. He used profane language on the phone calls and calls me at least once every other day. I have tried to settle debt with the original collector and they will not accept any form of payment if it isnt the full amount.

This company ( midwest service bureau ) contacted my husband first about some medical bills. He offered some sort of payment option, the lady he spoke to refused and said she would only take the whole amount and nothing else. ( She also asked him why he went to the doctor if he couldn't afford it anyways! ) I called her back because i couldn't believe they were refusing any sort of payments. When i talked to her i offered to put XXXX down and pay XXXX a month, which she refused and told me she was going to write down that i was refusing all of the options she gave me! My husbands bill was XXXX, now i have made several payments towards that account and she still calls me saying she is going to start garnishing mine and my husbands wages.

On XX/XX/XXXX, I pulled my credit report and noticed that Midwest Service Bureau is reporting and trying to collect on an account which they state was opened on XX/XX/XXXX, for {$400.00}. Please note that I have never entered into a contract with Midwest Service Bureau. In addtion, pursuant to Kansas Statutes, more specifically, Statute Number : 60-512, the statute of limitations of 3 years has passed on collections of this type of account. On XX/XX/XXXX, I wrote to Midwest Service Bureau indicating that I disputed the alleged account and that the Statue of Limitation had run. They received my letter on XX/XX/XXXX. Today, XX/XX/XXXX, I pulled my credit report, and they are still reporting and trying to collect on the alleged account.

On XX/XX/XXXX, Midwest Service Bureau, located in XXXX, KS call me AT WORK trying to discuss a debt owed. I told them I was at work and to stop calling. Then on XX/XX/XXXX, they called me again and I told them AGAIN to stop calling me at work and he preceded to talk over me acting like he did not hear me. My boss then got on the phone and she told them this was a place of business and to stop calling here. He was trying to argue with her and she cut him off stating to him they are NOT allowed to call at work. He again tried to argue, but she told him to stop calling. The amount owed is less than {$200.00} - which technically my ex husband owes according to court papers and Midwest Service Bureau was told that also.

Midwest Service Bureau contacted me by telephone during work hours on XX/XX/19 with regard to a debt they claimed I owed to XXXX XXXX of XXXX County. Approximately one year ago, I contacted XXXX XXXX directly regarding this same debt, and XXXX XXXX agreed to accept a smaller amount made in payments, nullifying Midwests claim to my debt. As those payments had been made in full several months ago, it is clear that Midwest Service Bureau made no effort to verify whether or not the debt was valid before contacting me. It is a matter of public record that Midwest Service Bureaus practices have led to multiple lawsuits and formal complaints in the past, including other attempts at collecting non-existent shadow debt.

The debt collector would constantly try to call my phone while I was at work. They would then call my job. I informed them that I could not take personal phone calls at work since I work with the public and are also really short staffed. They got really mad at the fact they couldn't call my job and insisted the only way they would stop calling my work is if I paid the whole debt. I told them I have the right to request they not call my work and they became abusive and said they would no longer work with me and would no longer accept payments.

Manager there told me that she answers to no one. I asked where I can report her and she said there was no where to report her and there was no need to try as my problem will only be solved through her. Luckily we live in the day of information. I would highly recommend reviewing the number of complaints about this facility. XXXX reviews show that every person who calls gets this same treatment.. The manager I spoke to informed me that she answers to no one so I assume that 's how she runs her whole department. Absolutely ridiculous.

They continually call for me at work which I have twice called and left messages stating I am not allowed personal calls at work but have continued to receive them from the same XXXX XXXX I leave the message with. The only information I have been given is the name of the company which is Midwest service bureau. She calls and leaves messages at work for me but never has she left a message on my personal cell stating who she is or what she wants in addition to her only calling me from a blocked number.
