I have a very old account that I recently received notice for garnishment. It was from 16 years ago. I paid approx {$800.00} + dollars of a {$11000.00} amount. I have record and they were also notified of the amount. I also know they can only charge me 10 % of the remaining balance a year on the state of South Dakota. I also received a letter from them a few years ago that I did, in fact, pay that amount. So, now I get a garnishment order for the original amount. They say that is interest added on. I can tell you through basic math, that is not a correct amount. Midwest Credits refuses to update the amount. On Top of that, my employer is not calculating the amount correctly. They also refuse to correct it. I do have all paperwork associated with this claim. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
