I have received daily telephone calls from a company called LLR ( i.e. Lakeland Recovery Services in XXXX, CA ) threating to litigate a past due debt. Voice messages left do not comply with the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act as they do not leave their company name and threatens legal action if I do not call them back. I have retained such voice mails. More concerning is their attempts to contact extended family members and past employers, including my sisters husband. When I called the company on XX/XX/15, they informed me they are attempting to collect a debt from an online payday loan and did not have to comply with the FDCPR because they were a " mediator ''. This is false since they are collecting the debt and will accept payment of said debt directly. I have informed the company to cease and desist any further communication with associates, employers, family members and others. In addition, I have asked them to provide me written documentation of said debt since no one at the company has ever sent me anything in writing, either via email or regular mail.
