I received an email from my credit monitoring service that informed me that my credit profile was adversely impacted. I found that KEY 2 RECOVERY INC had illegally posted an alleged collection account to my credit report. I have never heard of nor had an account with this company. My report shows that KEY 2 RECOVERY INC open account was opened on XX/XX/2020 with a balance of {$1800.00}. I have no knowledge of this company, nor this alleged debt. I have never had any dealings with this company. By federal law, a debt collector is supposed to make contact with an alleged debtor and give them 30 days to validate or dispute before they move forward with collection attempts. I never receive a letter in the mail that gave me 30 days to validate or dispute this account. I never received a letter stating that I have an alleged debt with this company and owe a balance on that account. Again, I have absolutely no knowledge of this account with them. I, a consumer defined under 15 USC 1692a ( 3 ), understand that, under the FDCPA guidelines for collection agencies, they have to provide ( 1 ) legitimate proof that they are the original holder of this debt and can legally hold me responsible for paying this debt and ( 2 ) contractual proof of obligation or an assignment SIGNED from an officer from the original creditors corporation that I am supposed to pay them. 15 USC 1692g Sec. 809 ( b ) of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act ( FDCPA ) grants me the right as a consumer to request validation of this alleged debt they say I owe. I never received a notice of right to dispute nor did I receive any information to verify that the alleged debt with this company belonged to me. If I would have gotten anything in the mail or phone call from this company before they illegally reported to my credit report, I would have respectfully requested evidence that I am the person they are asking to pay this debt and a contractual obligation that legally binds me to pay them this debt. Upon them receiving my validation letter by certified mail with return receipt, they would have to legally cease from collection calls, letters, and efforts and delete the account from my credit reports until they can validate this debt. But again, I never received such a letter about this account or phone call ever in the mail because it was never sent. In order for them to prove that I received it properly, the proper letter should have been mailed certified mail with return receipt or by some form of proof of postage that would require my signature. And if the company did mail anything to me, where is the legal proof of my signature stating that I received it? Where is the return receipt or postage signature showing that I received it and signed for it? But again, I never received any sort of mail or package. They have illegally posted and reported to my credit file without adhering to the FDCPA laws. Im not sure if this company is a scam, but I know that this company has broken FCRA and FDCPA laws by reporting an alleged account to my credit report without informing me through mail or phone and I did not receive notice of right to dispute nor did I receive any information to verify that the alleged debt belonged to me. My credit has dropped tremendously in the middle of making a major purchase. Please help me get this account removed immediately. As a consumer, Im publicly publishing this descriptive complaint on consumerfinance.gov so that others can learn from my experience and so that this government agency can use this information to help work with other violations and complaints from consumers regarding this company. As a consumer defined under 15 USC 1692a ( 3 ), I'm also preparing to sue under the FCRA and FDCPA because of the numerous consumer law violations committed by this company, damages to my credit and opportunity costs with making a major purchase, and business ventures that must be delayed until this illegal account is removed. It should not be my responsibility to submit proof that this debt does not belong to me. It is the responsibility of the debt collector to submit proof that they can legally collect on the alleged debt and legally report to the credit agencies. As of this date, they have failed to do so. I recently submitted a complaint to Key2Recovery regarding an alleged debt. In the response from Key2Recovery, the agent on their behalf has password protected the documents that she provided. She didn't include the password. She also stated that I could call the number : XXXX and ANY of their agents would be happy to assist. I have a recorded call that i placed on XX/XX/2022 at XXXX to gain access to both of these password protected documents. Where I spoke with the first agent who stated she was a manager. She confirmed that the account number XXXX is not the actual account number with Key2Recovery who is now collecting the debt but is the account number of their client XXXX XXXX The same number XXXX that is reporting on my report, the same number that is also used on the documents sent from them through the CFPB. I gave this account number to the first agent and she was not able to find the alleged account. If this isn't the number I can use to access the alleged account with Key2Recovery then why is this number on my consumer report. Key2Recovery is reporting false and deceptive account information on my consumer report. The first agent who again stated she was a manager was not able to happily assist me with the password. So instead of offering another type of assistance. I had to ask for her supervisor which is when she told me that she herself was a manager. She didn't even know what the CFPB was. Seems as if their managers are not properly trained. She pretty much insulted my intelligence by stating " you want to speak to a manager even though I am a manager you want to speak with my manager '' I kindly said " Yes ''. Because clearly although she is a " manager '' she could not assist me so I'm not sure why she didn't offer that herself. She transferred me over to the next agent, XXXX, who also could not assist me and only focus was to start collecting on the debt through different mediums of communication. He wasn't truly trying to help me. But what I found to be very disturbing coming from the 2nd manager, agent, XXXX when I asked him what was the name of the agent that connected me to him. He stated " I don't know who you are talking about '' I said again " The agent that connected me to you stated you where her supervisor '' He didn't know her name again. It made me giggle so I stated, " You don't know the name of the lady that just transferred me to you who stated you where her manager? You don't know who you manage? '' Now I have managed for over 10 years in multiple different industries and there was never a time I didn't know someone I managed. After stating that he replied " XXXX XXXX. '' Now I don't want to have to release this call ( in the court of law ) because it was very disturbing how these agents of Key2Recovery do not have enough training to be able to assist alleged debtors. But what's even more disturbing the managers of this business have no idea about the CFPB, password protected documents, or who could assist me. Even more so how the agent that responded through the CFPB, the agents, XXXX and XXXX XXXX are also conspiring against me to collect on an alleged debt by deceiving, misleading and providing false information. Deceiving me to believe they were managers and that ANY agent of this company could assist me, misleading me to think I would be able to open these documents but it seem as a set up from the jump by not providing the password so that I would call in and consent to receive unwanted calls and emails from this company, and providing false information and furnishing deceptive forms and account numbers on my consumer report, all violations of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. Again I am asking the CFPB to step in for justice. Key2Recovery is a deceiving, false reporting, debt collection company with Mangers that conspire against consumers by willfully and knowingly disobeying the FDCPA and use carefully planned attempts to collect on alleged debt.

On XX/XX/XXXX, I received a letter from Key 2 Recovery ( Letter enclosed ) claiming I owed a debt to their company. On XX/XX/XXXX, I immediately responded requesting verification ( letter enclosed and verification of signature receipt ). On XX/XX/, Key 2 Recovery received the letter and responded. The letter contained a black and white photo of a computer generated screen with what appears to be a first and last name similar to mine. In the screenshot there is no mention of Key to Recovery or any legible facts which would constitute a contract. Furthermore, the screenshot states a bill to XXXX is owed is {$750.00}. However, Key to Recovery invoice has balance of {$1200.00} with no apparent explanation. In response to the letter I received, I again sent correspondence to Key 2 Recovery ( letter enclosed and verification of signature receipt ) explaining my continued desire to seek clarity. No response! However, on XX/XX/XXXX, I received an alert that a collection account was added to my account from Key 2 Recovery which is unacceptable. Like the lawsuit CFPB vs XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ; XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ; XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ; XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ; XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ; XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ; XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ; XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ; XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ; XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ; XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ; XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ; XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ; XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ; and XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, Delaware Statutory Trusts. Like the XXXX, Key 2 Recovery is misleading in their practice to collect debt. Like the affidavits in the CFPB lawsuit, the actions of Key 2 Recovery to place this debt on my credit profile exhibits I had personal knowledge of the education loan records evidencing the debt which is untrue. Furthermore, like the affiliates in the CFPB lawsuit case, I lack personal knowledge of the education loan records evidencing the debt and further questioned validity once I received the validation letter. Furthermore validation should be seen Clearly and Prominently means i. as to written information : written in a type size and location sufficient for an ordinary consumer to read and comprehend it and disclosed in a manner that would be easily recognizable and understandable in language and syntax to an ordinary consumer ; if the information is contained in a multi-page print document, the disclosure appears on the first page. Lastly, referencing the order signed by the US district Judge, a document signed by the Consumer, such as a promissory note, evidencing the agreement to pay the loan forming the basis of the Debt should be rendered before taking any action against me or my credit profile. Key 2 Recovery lack of due diligence in my case should not be tolerated and deserves the same attention given to XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. Also considering the amount of responses from them of acting within in contractual limits is not sufficient. The CFPB will continue to receive these kinds of complaints unless legal action is taken. Considering the size of complainants in the database against Key to Recovery, a class action lawsuit is inevitable.

New and updated information regarding Key2Recovery : For the agent responding, to assume that I, the consumer, would know the passwords allegedly provided would STILL work instead of the agent just providing the password or admit that the company is not well trained to perform day to day operations. Key2Recovery employees spend more time using abusive and obscene words towards consumers instead of just fixing the problem at hand. I've had a chance to look over these documents and there is several things I noticed on top of this companies deceptiveness, false and misleading statements, abusive and obscene languages, all clear violations of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. On top of the company showing a ledger with a XXXX balance. None of these documents show the character amount furnished on my consumer report in the amount of {$1600.00}. I have repeatedly asked for verification of this debt or some type of itemization of each dollar amount of this debt and the ledger provided by Key2Recovery shows proof that this debt collector is using illegal, false and unfair means to collect. Because the so called ledger is password protected I have included a screenshot of the XXXX out balance along with the alleged write-off amount. I have also included the screenshot of this account on my credit report which I would like to point out two different balances that are not reflected on this ledger. Key2Recovery has violated 15 USC 1692a by providing an abundance of evidence of abusive, deceptive, and unfair means to collect on this alleged debt. 15 USC 1692d ( 2 ) by using abusive and obscene language from not only this agent insuataing that I should have known the password of both of these documents, but from the agent XXXX XXXX by stating that since she is a manager I shouldn't have to speak with another manager although she could not assist me with the day to day operations. And the deceptiveness of not providing a password to get me to call in where the only focus was to get me to consent to receiving unwanted and unfair calls and emails. Also the misleading that ANY agent of this company would be able to assist but no one was properly trained. This only shows that the reason the document was password protected to began with is so that investigators of the CFPB could not see the next violation which is the false representation of the character amount of this debt by reporting two different amounts that have nothing to do with the alleged password protected ledger which is a violation of 15USC 1692e ( 2 ) ( A ). I can only imagine the consumers that are being affected by this companies abusive, deceptive and unfair ways.

Sometime in XXXX XXXX I started receiving letters from XXXX XXXX XXXX from Key2Recovery regarding a debt to a school that I do not owe. At first, she acted professional, but later on she became very rude and uncooperative. I had taken out a private student loan through XXXX XXXX about 6 or 7 years ago, and am still paying on it. I moved from XXXX at the end of XXXX XXXX, and let XXXX know that I did n't have a mailing address yet but that I would give it to her once I set up a XXXX XXXX XXXX She called me several weeks later asking if I had received the document proving that I owed money to the school, and when I asked her where she had sent it, she said it went to XXXX. I reminded her that I left a voicemail as soon as I moved to XXXX and got my XXXX XXXX XXXX with my new mailing address, but she became very rude and said that she sent it and was n't going to send it again. She also called me " uncooperative '', when I have been trying to do everything I can to figure out what is going on. She has been calling me ever since then, even at strange hours of the evening ( XXXX my time, XXXX her time ). This is all very odd, especially since I have not changed my phone number since I attended the school, so I do n't see why they never called me in the past 6-7 years if I somehow did owe them money. I have even tried calling the said school several times, but have not heard back. I work at a bank, and have heard of a few debt collection agency scams recently going on, so I know better than to just send off money to them without questioning it. So far, I have not had any proof of anything that I have signed saying I owe this school money. I am still paying XXXX XXXX for the student loan, and everything that has occurred thus far has led me to believe this is fraudulent. It also seems that XXXX has violated the Fair Debt Collection Practice Act. It would make sense to me that if I did indeed owe money to the school, they would probably contact me, and XXXX would have happily updated my address when she was on the phone with me last time ( rather than being rude and saying that she already sent the document proving I owed the debt, and that she was n't going to send it again ). Be that as it may, everything about this seems very fishy, not to mention the fact that a strange number ( XXXX ) keeps calling me, without leaving any voicemails. When I looked it up online, it is a credit management company ... and apparently in XXXX, XXXX authorities arrested XXXX people for what they said was a XXXX scam by a debt collection company that victimized more than XXXX people, and a prosecutor said a wider crackdown was underway. Scary.

XXXX/XXXX/XX/XX/2015 I was contacted by a collection agency stating that I owe {$2900.00} to an online university. I stated that the claim was erroneous as I had applied for and to my knowledge received financial aid. I asked what the debt was for. They stated it was because I did not withdraw from my classes per the contract. They stated they had exhausted all efforts to contact me. I stated that this was the XXXX I had heard of this alleged debt. Collection agent stated that they had been contacting me at ( telephone number that did not belong to me ). Agent read off the telephone number. I stated that was not my telephone number. Agent stated that that was the information provided to her. On XXXX/XXXX/XX/XX/ after having made contact with me and after I had advised the telephone number they had been calling was not mine, a collection agent from this agency again called the telephone number not belonging to me, it belongs to my mother, and left a phone message discussing the alleged debt on my mother 's answering machine. This same day this same agent left the same message on my answering machine and implied a threat that if I did not call them back by XXXX on XXXX/XXXX/XX/XX/2015 that my file would be moved to final determination and that " seriously, this is something you do n't want to happen ''. Previously, when I asked the collection agent to validate the debt, they threatened that if I request the validation of debt that I would not be able to work out any type of settlement, that all chances of working out a settlement at a reduced amount would be off the table. As I was trying to reason with this collection agent, she continued to yell and talk over me and stated " I 'm not playing your games, I 'm going to submit paperwork to garnish your wages ''. On XXXX/XXXXXX/XX/ I contacted the original creditor, spoke to XXXX. of the university and advised that the collection agency was very abusive and illegally trying to collect on a debt. I stated that I wanted to work directly with the university to resolve this matter. XXXX. stated he would speak to Mgmt to pull my file from the collection agency. I contacted the collection agency to advise them of this. The agent with an exasperated tone asked why and " Are you going to resolve this? '' I stated I am resolving this as quickly as possible. XXXX. of the university emailed me XXXX/XXXX/XX/XX/2015 stating that he was speaking with the collection agency and would be back in contact with me after hearing from the collection agency. Received a call XXXX/XXXX/XX/XX/2015 from the collection agency again. I did not answer.

I received a call from XXXX with Key 2 Recovery on XX/XX/XXXX concerning a collection account with XXXX XXXX from XX/XX/XXXX XXXX {$1400.00}. I informed her that I did n't have any debts with XXXX XXXX and am not familiar with any debts from there that I owe. I told her the statute of limitations have run out for such a debt that I do n't even owe from XX/XX/XXXX. XXXX asked if I was going to pay the debt and I informed her, no, because it 's not my debt and she hung up on me. After the call, I did n't receive any additional contact by phone or mail ( never received anything by mail ). Fast-forward to XX/XX/XXXX I receive a credit alert from XXXX XXXX as it relates to XXXX indicting I have an open collection dated XX/XX/XXXX from Key 2 Recovery Inc., and reported XX/XX/XXXX for a debt owed to XXXX XXXX in the amount of {$1400.00}. How could I have had an " open '' collection in XX/XX/XXXX? The debt was so old, that I was wondering why a collection agency was attempting to collect a debt that was over 17 years old that I knew I no longer owed and when they purchased the debt at that time it was their duty to do their due diligence. The reason I do n't owe or have such a debt is because it was discharged XX/XX/XXXX in Case Number XXXX under Chapter XXXX ( filed under my maiden name ) on Schedule F, Creditor # XXXX i/a/o {$1400.00} the exact amount Key 2 Recovery has reported on my credit report as a derogatory collection. How can a collection agency attempt to collect after bankruptcy and report a derogatory collection on my account after all these years on an account that was clearly discharged, stale, time-barred, not re-aged, and no documentation provided that the debt was valid? Having a collection account can jeopardize my job as a XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX, and XXXX XXXX XXXX as I 'm not able to have " bad credit '' and collections. This appears to be unfair collection practice as this company clearly ignored that this debt was no longer owed and did not validate the debt they clearly purchased over 15 years later, and they falsely reported to the Credit Bureau which can jeopardize my career.

This is a follow up to CFPB complaints XXXX and XXXX regarding debt collector Key2Recovery where its representative states : " ... someone stole her identity they would first have to construct erroneous high school transcripts, fraudulently take the XXXX exam using someone elses { sic ] name, apply to the institution of higher education ( XXXX XXXX XXXX in this instance ) in the hopes of being accepted. If accepted, they would then have to enroll for classes and pay the tuition and fees and attend classes all with the questionable intention of obtaining a diploma in someone elses [ sic ] name to secure gainful employment as another person ... '' 1. Clearly, this statement indicates the company did indeed act as an authorized third party and initiated contact with someone at XXXX XXXX XXXX to gain access to personal records with neither my knowledge nor my consent in violation of Fair Debt Collection Practices Act 15 USC 1692c 805. Communication in connection with debt collection : " ... a debt collector may not communicate, in connection with the collection of any debt, with any person other than the consumer, his attorney, a consumer reporting agency if otherwise permitted by law, the creditor, the attorney of the creditor, or the attorney of the debt collector. '' 2. Moreover, the address and personal information on all correspondence from the debt collector came directly from government documents from XXXX XXXX XXXX, which is protected by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act ( FERPA ) ( 20 U.S.C. 1232g ; 34 CFR Part 99 ) is a Federal law that protects the privacy of student education records. 3. Finally, I am a current respondent in the ongoing 2017 Equifax Data Breach Settlement where my credit information is currently monitored. It is very irresponsible for a creditor to mock or otherwise dismiss the severity of data breaches that compromises one 's personal. Bottom-feeding companies, such as Key2Recovery, care only about their increasing their profit margins by any means including data breaches, identity theft, and fraud.

I graduated from XXXX XXXX and University in XXXX, Ohio in XXXX. When I graduated I received a notice I had an outstanding balance of {$3300.00} from courses I had to repeat. The Financial Aid office failed to mention that my scholarship did not cover the entire class. Then I collection email from key 2 recovery for {$4200.00} and I was just finishing school which I actually finished in XX/XX/XXXX. I asked them what was the additional amount for and they said collection fees. I told them how is that possible when I was never told there would be collection fees. They started harassing my wife and my family to get in touch with me. I was not working at that time and I also asked for them to send me a detailed billing notice for the charges. Fast forward to XXXX of XXXX. They contacted my wife and said her paycheck would be garnished for my debt because I was her husband. They sent an email stating we could not pay via checking account or debit card that we had to wire the amount to Key 2 Recovery at XXXX. My wife then asked could we mail payments and they said no it had to be a wire transfer to make sure they received it and that we didnt say we mailed it but really didnt. My wife sent {$4700.00} over 8 months so they wouldnt garnish her checks. We received an email on XX/XX/XXXX stating we still owed {$900.00} in late fees, cumillated taxes and penalties and court costs and I could not receive my degree until it was paid in full. I contacted the school and they said they havent received a payment from key 2 recovery as of this date. I informed them of what we have paid and they told us to contact the company. I contacted the company again at XXXX and asked to speak to our collections agent XXXX XXXX. he stated he would contact the school to clear this up. He called again and left a message for us to return the call at XXXX and we still have yet to hear anything.? i want my diploma and our receipts asap. and this to be cleared up!

XXXX told me that I had to give her call at XXXX by close of business on XX/XX/2023 and I said okay. I never knew it was a collections call. I tried calling back, left 3 messages and never got a call back. The next thing I get is a collections letter from Key2Recovery Collection Agency acct # XXXX saying that I owe XXXX XXXX {$5000.00}. I immediately called the Collection agency back and informed them that I shouldn't be in collection due to the fact that the loan servicing company XXXX XXXX acct. number XXXX told me that my loan was hold due to the Pandemic and the fact I wasn't working regularly. When speaking to XXXX XXXX she told me she would contact the College and send me all information related. Once I got the information, I called back and was informed that I never had a loan through XXXX XXXX but I had an Account Receivable Account and that is now in Collections and I had to pay it or it will affect my credit. I then got a phone call on my job in which I never gave these people my number and they told my job it was a collections call and they had to speak to me then the call was transferred to me. I immediadely told them I was at work and that it wasn't acceptable for them to call me there and the representative hung up and called my cell phone, but I just said " I'm at work. She then told me that I was refusing to pay and I never said that, I said I should not be in collections and that if I had to pay that I would begin to pay what was agreed upon by myself and XXXX XXXX since I am working now. She said that it is unacceptable and that I had to pay peroid. The said they had no knowledge of payments to launch servicing

Today I was notified for the first time by XXXX that there was a new collection account on my report. I attended XXXX University in XXXX and my account became delinquent in the amount of XXXX dollars on XX/XX/XXXX - I verified this today XX/XX/XXXX with the XXXX University billing office. I have a record of emails from XXXX trying to collect on this debt as far back as XX/XX/XXXX ( this is included ). In XX/XX/XXXX, XXXX University referred my account to Key 2 Recovery ( XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, OH XXXX ) for collections. Today, XX/XX/XXXX, Key 2 Recovery reported my account " date opened '' as XX/XX/XXXX, when they were given the account, not when it became delinquent - this is called " re-aging debt '' and I believe it to be illegal in this situation. I have paid nothing on this debt, have not and do not admit ownership, have not entered into any arrangement whatsoever with any entity concerning this debt. I called Key 2 Recovery today to inquire about the debt and the date of birth they provided as the debt owners did not match mine. Then I notified the debt collection representative about the false information being reported, she told me it wasn't her problem. When I told her that yes it was, that they were required to report accurate information she hung up on me. I called back and spoke to another representative whom I requested validation of the dates from and was simply told it was referred to their office XX/XX/XXXX, I was not given the delinquency date by any Key 2 Recovery representative today. The account information reported to XXXX is incorrect, incomplete, and it is COMPLETELY unethical that they would report unverified information. Along with this complaint I am reporting the FCRA violation with Louisiana Attorney General XXXX XXXX.

I am in receipt of your companies letter informing me you are handling the collection of the account mentioned above. However, after reviewing my records i am unable to find any documentations of any contractual relationship between name of company and myself which makes you a person in title to enforce a commercial claim against me. This letter is not a request for verification or validation. This is a request for proof of contract to substantiate your claim. Provide me with a certified copy of an original contract with my signature specifically naming your company as a person entitled to enforce a commercial claim against me. Certification can be done through the presence of a notary public who doolie swears the copy made is in fact a copy of the original paper contract in question. Failure to respond and provide strict proof of contract will constitute your tactic agreement that you name of president and name of company are not entitled to force a claim against me. In the event you continue your collection without any proof of contract, i will file a complaint with The Attorney General and Federal Trade Commission and File a police report against you for harassment and invasion of privacy. You have 30 days to provide strict proof of contract. In the event you can not provide strict proof of contract you must cease and dismissed any collection efforts and immediately remove any derogatory information reporting to the consumer reporting agency. If you transfer this account to an attorney without providing proof of contract, he will be immediately reported to the state bar association and professional liability found for code of ethics violations. I was contacted by mail from Key 2 Recovery Collection Agency in XX/XX/2019. The initial letter stated it was an attempt to collect a debt on behalf of Indiana XXXX University. I replied to this letter via postal services, asking for debt validation Information and proof of authorization to collect in the state of Indiana, because their office is in the state of Ohio. In XX/XX/2019, They replied to my request with a letter of charges and fees, but none of the information that I requested. They also failed to prove their authorization to collect debts in the state of Indiana. After receiving this letter, I sent a cease and desist letter to them via certified mail with a signature receipt upon acceptance. I HAVE THE SIGNATURE RECEIPT AND A COPY OF THE CEASE AND DESIST LETTER I SENT TO THEM AND PROOF OF ACCEPTANCE. In XX/XX/2019, Key 2 Recovery, falsely reported a collection account to my XXXX consumer credit report. The information on the collection account states that their initial reporting to XXXX started in XXXX of 2019, but the open date of the collection account is XX/XX/2019. Since then Key 2 Recovery, continues to falsely update this account information and completely ignore the cease and desist letter that I sent to them. The last time they updated the account was XX/XX/2019. This is a complete violation of my consumer rights. This company has shown that they are willing to violate consumer laws and collection laws and guidelines. I would like to take them to court and have these collection company closed for ignoring business laws, consumer protection laws, antitrust laws, and collection laws and guidelines.

On XXXX I was contacted by Key 2 Recovery about owing money to XXXX University student accounts. I told XXXX XXXX that I did n't owe anything to this school because the money was from my student loans and grants. I sent her the paperwork where I withdrew from XXXX and enrolled into a different school. XXXX had signed all my paperwork stating I did not owe any money. Months after this I found out that XXXX had fraudulently took my grant money and student loans. I provided her with all my evidence of this. The account number for this account was XXXX. This account was closed. On XXXX 2016 I was contacted on my cell phone again by XXXX with account number XXXX about owing XXXX University money, this time the amount was extremly more than previously. This time I told them that I have already been through this before with this company. I was then told that they just got this account and have never had it before. I again told them that we have gone through this before and I have proven that this money was not owed. I told them to validate the information because I am tired of being harassed. I then found my original paperwork for the previous account and called them about that account number and was told again that it was closed. I am tired of being called on my cell phone. I am tired of proving over and over that I do not owe this and them then closing the account until they feel like opening another XXXX with a different amount.

I have been receiving calls from Key 2 Recovery to handle a incorrectly charged debt from my university. I have been in contact with Key 2 Recovery on multiple occasions ( XX/XX/XXXX and XXXX of XXXX ). We have been trying to handle the false charges as I have receipts and the school policy on where they went wrong. All of this evidence has been sent to the Key 2 Recovery team at XXXX and have confirmation they have received the documentation. I received a missed call at XXXXXXXX XXXX MST XX/XX/XXXX and at XXXX XXXX I am contacted by my mother that they called her twice to try and find a way to reach me. I explicitly outlined to them on our first interaction on XX/XX/XXXX to only contact me by phone. This is a clear violation of the FDCPA for the following reasons Debt collection agencies can only call you between the hours of XXXX XXXX and XXXX XXXX local time A debt collector can make telephone calls to a third party such as friends and family, but theyre limited in what they can say. For example, the debt collector has to identify himself and state theyre calling to confirm your address or contact information, but they cant say theyre trying to collect on a debt. For these reasons I am filing a complaint against the company for stepping outside the rules in the FDCPA.

This company Key 2 Recovery has been calling me at work on a daily basis for weeks. I have told several of their collection agents that I can not receive any type of personal calls at work and instructed them to remove the number. They have refused and keep contacting me. On XX/XX/XXXX, I spoke to XXXX and instructed her to stop calling me at work and to remove the number. She said that she was removing my work number but on XX/XX/XXXX the calls resumed again and I was contacted by XXXX. I AGAIN told them again that I can not receive any types of personal calls at work and instructed them to remove the number. On XX/XX/XXXX, I was contacted once again by XXXX and told her empatically that I can not receive any types of personal calls at work and instructed them to remove the number once again. She instead wanted to dispute that I didn't want to pay a {$4200.00} debt from a college that I stopped attending in 1999. I told her that I did not even know know if the debt bellongs to me or if it's even valid and it's 20 years old and has not appeared on my credit report.I again repeated that I can not receive any types of personal calls at work and instructed them to remove the number and she continued debating about the debt and I hung up on her.

I had a payment authorized to be pulled for the month of XXXX on the XXXX which was a Friday. Well it never pulled and Key 2 Recovery claims my card declined on XX/XX/XXXX for insufficient funds however I watched my account and I had more than enough funds. However Key 2 Recovery did not contact me to tell me anything. Finally I got through to them through email and they finally pulled the payment the XX/XX/XXXX and yet I still hadn't heard from anyone in this office. Then Thursday XX/XX/XXXX the CEO XXXX XXXX contacted me via email roughly two weeks later stating my card declined and they were planning to take action to collect the entire remainder of the bill. The CEO is very harassing and talking down to me, he continued to blame me despite the fact their office never contacted me. He sent me a small screen shot showing the word " declined '' against a black screen however there was no indication this was truly my card. He claimed he couldn't send me proof of my card declining, however then Friday the XX/XX/XXXX he actually did end up sending the information. I am tired of being harassed by this company when I am paying a monthly payment every month and yet that whole office continues to harass and threaten me.

Key 2 Recovery has been calling me to collect a debt on behalf of XXXX XXXX University, a college that I did not attend and that I owe no money to. I have explained this to the collection agency and was told repeatedly that they would get XXXX to send a validation letter, but in many months, this has never happened. The collection agency continues to call at a harassing frequency and claims that our past conversations haven't taken place. On XX/XX/20 I called and spoke with XXXX XXXX about not receiving the validation letters I've requested many times and she said her records showed that " we talked about it '' but that I never told her for certain to go ahead and request a validation from XXXX. This was one of many conversations about this exact issue that we have had with one another repeatedly. Such deceptive record-keeping seems to be responsible for the many unanswered disputes and continued collection activity for charges I have never made. I need help making sure that this company, Key 2 Recovery, releases me from this invalid debt. Despite my efforts, their communications with me have been wholly dishonest, and I am afraid this will continue for years without any intervention.

Key2 Recovery, of XXXX XXXX, OH made several phone calls to our home phone, trying to collect on an alleged debt of our youngestDaughter, XXXX XXXX, who has not lived with us for several years. We told Key2 these facts, and that the alleged debt was not that of my wife or myself, and that we had not guaranteed anything for XXXX, and hadn't co-signed, etc.We told Key2 to stop calling us. ( We also had not received anything written from Key 2 before or after these harassing phone calls. ) Key2 said they would stop. On XX/XX/XXXX, Key2 began to call us again, using cellphone numbers, and also began to call our oldest Daughter XXXX on her cellphone as well. XXXX also does not live with us. Key obtained these cellphone numbers of our Family in an illegal process called 'skip-tracing '' ; which violates consumer protection laws as well as privacy laws. The cellphone calls may also violate the TCPA. Key2 has also called friends of XXXX on this alleged debt, and seems to have contacted her employer. This adds to the illegal business practices of Key2, and would seem to violated Title 5 of the Federal Trade Act ; as this is an Unfair and Deceptive and Abusive act by Key2.,

On XX/XX/2023 at approximately XXXX XXXX EST I contacted the original creditor XXXX XXXX XXXX. I was advised I had an outstanding balance of {$850.00}. They advised me to reach out to Key 2 Recovery, a debt collector, to settle the account. I then found their website and logged in using my personal information, and they showed a balance of {$1100.00}. I submitted an online dispute and advised that I had just been told by the original creditor the amount owed was sent to them as {$850.00}. Key 2 Recovery then called me and said they were given a file in the amount of {$1100.00} by XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX. I advised I had JUST talked to the university and the file was sent over as {$850.00}, per the original creditors. The collection agent then demanded XXXX XXXX DOLLARS to settle the debt. This is outrageous, in excess of any allowable fees, interest, or charges allowable in my state, and a misrepresentation. The amount originally owed was also grossly misrepresented and the representative lied about the original amount sent over. These unlawful tactics need to be dealt with.

I was a student at XXXX college and paid {$5700.00} for first quarter and second quarter I took out a loan in the amount of $ XXXX.XXXX College closed their doors without notice to students. XXXX attempted to do a teach out but was denied by state XXXX XXXX. Students have lost credits which are not transferable to other colleges and we will not get our money back on previous amounts paid to that school. Never once was I informed I had a balance while attending school. They closed their doors, no one can be reached to answer questions, and they send students to collections without explanations to why balances are owed. When I contacted Key 2 recovery on the collection balance I was told by XXXX it was in my best interest to pay or it would be reported to the credit bureau. I am seeking help to resolve this issue. XXXX never notified me I had a balance thru email, mail or as a student. I think it is unfair as to the way everything with the closure has been handled and at the end we lost credits, money and now threats from a collection agency.

I cant get in contact with anybody, the school was very difficult and also many of us signed up wanting to be Dental Hygienist and the school later on next year came out with that program, and didnt even notify us that they would be coming with that program so instead we could have waited for the actual program we wanted to do. This is all a big mess and me not being able to get in contact with anyone, is very unprofessional.

XX/XX/2019. Received a call from a female representative at key2recovery. the woman was attempting to collect the debt that I owe. I told her I wasn't able to make a payment at that time. I told her that my brakes on my vehicle went out and I had to pay to have someone evicted from my home. I told her that we didn't even have money for food. She asked me if I could borrow the money and I told her no. While she was on the phone I had company and I couldn't keep telling her no so I got short and hung up the phone. XX/XX/2019. I received a text message from my bank saying that key2recovery took {$100.00} out of my account. I called key2recovery and spoke with a male who said he was the supervisor. Explain the situation to him and ask him to give my money back and he told me according to his notes that he was allowed to take my money. He wouldn't listen to me and he kept talking over me. Next, I called my bank and ask them to stop the payment. They said I would have to call back tomorrow because the payment was still pending.

Company : Key 2 Recovery I am currently serving in the military and was informed that the private loan I had taken through college had gone to collections under a total of {$19000.00}. I received the notification in XXXX 2016. I responded with a letter claiming the Civil Relief Act that would lower the interest to 6 % and also requested verification of the account. I received a response which listed my principal amount as being {$13000.00} and an additional debt of {$6500.00} listed as " collection cost. '' No proof of contract for the private loan was included in the correspondence. The company said nothing about honoring the Civil Relief Act. Since then, we have receiving phone calls threatening that my situation has been " escalated. '' I have not yet called to request clarification for this threatening statement. To date, my debt has been in collections for over a year. However, it has never been officially listed in my credit report. Insofar, I have not yet taken action as I question legitimacy of this account.

I did n't really know which option to select. The company, key2recovery, began calling me several times a day earlier this week. I received no written notice of a debt and, when I called to see what this was in regards to, found that they were attempting to collect on a time locked debt that is several years past the statute of limitations. Much more troubling, when they " verified '' my information, they read out the last four of my SSN and my date of birth and asked me to say yes or no as to whether the information was correct rather than asking me to provide this information. I am VERY uncomfortable that this organization is providing my personal information over the phone after I provided my name only ( which is n't even my legal name any longer ). They left the name on my voicemail, meaning that, if I had changed my phone number in the past 10 years, any random person who had been left this message could have called back, provided the name from the message, and been provided my SSN and DOB.

I submitted a complaint on here and was helped by someone in your office who notified me to stop paying them as they are not a legit Colorado collection agency. I received what looks like a letter from the college noting what they state is an XXXX XXXX with the same acct # XXXX. Then the other paper is for collection payment saying to go to XXXX to make payment. When you go into the site and make an acct to see the supposed loan. It states in red to contact Key 2 Recovery- XXXX placement. It shows the same loan as an owed amt and then in a negative amount. I strongly believe this company is trying to scam me again and I need some help. Thank you for your time

I sent a debt validation letter to them asking for proof that I obtained this debt and they failed to provide actual proof that I obtained this debt! Now they are stating that the information that they provided to me WAS in fact sufficient, when by law it is NOT. I asked for my signature, or a school picture ID that PROVES I attended this school to obtain this debt! They provided a ledger and a class schedule. That is it! That in NO WAY proves that I attended this school or that the debt belongs to me! It doesn't include any identifying information to prove the debt is mine! By law, they have to provide proof that I attended this school because if they don't then they can't collect this debt! Just because they say the info that they provided was sufficient DOESN'T mean it is! Any judge in the land will agree with me! And I am prepared to take this that far if they want to keep playing games and trying to bully me into paying a debt that they can not even prove is mine!

I received a letter in the mail informing me of the debt collection from Key 2 Recovery for a little over {$7000.00}. After speaking with them initially, I told them that I could only pay a small amount due to only being part time. I also asked them on the initial call that I did not want them calling my job, since we are not allowed to take personal calls. The second time I spoke with someone, they were very rude and not understanding of my current financial situation. The woman I spoke with then asked for my work information ( name, phone number, etc ) and I refused to disclose that information and again told them that I did not want them calling my job. On XX/XX/2021 at XXXX, they called my job. I answered the phone and told them that I have told them twice to not call my job. I then went and called the company again from my personal phone and spoke with someone who then said that it just now said to not call while I was at work and the number was removed.

I have been repeatedly called from a XXXX number regarding debt owed by my brother. I ignored the unknown number the first time and they left a voicemail stating they were calling about debt owed by ( my brothers name ). I later found out they also called two other siblings trying to track down my brother. Even though I told her this was the wrong number and I had already asked not to be called again, she continued to probe and try to determine my relation to her target and push me to get him in touch with her until I eventually hung up. I want this company to stop calling me.

I enrolled at XXXX University using federal funds and scholarships. I was XXXX assaulted and withdrew from school. I let the university know what had occurred and I could no longer start the semester. I received a bill from KEY 2 RECOVERY INC stating that I owe a balance of XXXX. I called the University and the collector to get this resolved but no one could assist me. No one sent the bill on how I could owe this. I also received a notice from my student loan servicer from XXXX showing the loan was taken out. I have not had any explanation as to why I owe when I withdrew from the courses in a timely fashion and it shows up as a student loan on my credit report. The only notice I continue to receive is a notice saying that I owe a balance. I have disputed this account with the credit bureaus with no course of action.

Attended XXXX University XXXX in XXXX 2014, under the impression by accepting the " financial award letter '' that my schooling would be taken care of by a student loan. However, then this past XXXX, they began demanding payment in full. Including taking my XXXX tax refund. They have now began calling from the debt collector and I have asked for an attorney to assist me. I attempted contact a couple times via email, and had no success. The latest email from XXXX, and XXXX, had been pretty blunt and straight forward a blow off. On entering the school originally, I know that other students personally had problems with Al in financial aide returning or acknowledging communication. Had I been able to affor books this last year I would have went back, but was unable to. Amen I did not.

Back in XXXX I disputed the account as no knowledge of account and mandated that XXXX not just tell me the account was verified, However I requested proof that the account belonged to me, I asked for any contract showing my signature, or anything the may have to show I actually owe this debt. 30 days later I received only a letter saying verified no proof as I requested, on today when I spoke with the manager I was told the don't have to provide anything and that they actually, just take the word of what ever the creditor tells them. I received a letter from a company called Key 2 Recovery , Inc. in regards to a debt that I owe. The amount this so called company says I owe is {$5500.00} because of an unpaid student loan with XXXX College. Now I called this collection agency about this so called amount and they said its for a student loan. Yes I did go to XXXX College, but the money I took out was through FAFSA which deals with the DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION. So all the student loans that I owe will be repaid through and to the Department of Education and not through a collection agency. This agency made a mistake by saying that I owe them money that I took out from FAFSA ( which goes through Department of Education ) for my college courses at XXXX College.

I authorized this several times on a recorded line. Due to the agents error the payment was not processed and negatively impacted by credit score. When speaking with the supervisor he was very dismissive and intimidating. He would not address my concerns for the inaccuracies of what was reported only the balance remaining. The supervisor completely disregarded my concern and continued to attempt to collect although I advised that my information was not correct. The negligence, intimidation and disregard for the customer is appalling.

Key to Recovery is constantly attempting to collect on a loan for XXXX XXXX. The only verification method used is having access to my personal information that the school had. After submitting proof that I never signed for this loan to the credit bureau, it still comes back as verified as accurate, disregarding that someone forged my name with a group of numbers. They have created a new debt on my account as of last month. I am 18 days away from closing and this is my only collection on my credit. Which is false. Please help me fix this off of my credit so that it does not affect my mortgage.

This debt just randomly landed on my credit report. The debt collector stated that the debt was created on XX/XX/2021. I have received no contact via email, phone, or postal mail about owing money on this debt, or that it was in existence. I did not receive the opportunity to verify that this was my debt. I am not going to pay a debt that was never confirmed to be my own.

After I questioned the company 's process on settlement of my debt, the representative snapped back at me, cutting me off, and telling me that I was rude and disrespectful, then hung up. ( After I called the collector and made a generous offer to settle my debt which was immediately not entertained. ) I immediately felt harassed and lied to about my own behavior.
