XXXX from J Ritter Law Firm keeps calling me claiming to be a debt collector, asking me to pay a debt allegedly from my old university bookstore. They sent me a letter months ago ( XXXX of XXXX, I think ). When I didnt respond in writing, they started calling me ( sometime in XXXX XXXX XXXX ). I know I dont owe this debt. When I ran my credit and the debt did not show up on my credit report, I was finally sure J Ritter was a scam. Theyve called saying I have a case against me, mentioned appearing in court. I called my university bookstore today. The bookstore staff agreed that J Ritter sounds suspicious. Further, the dates of these letters and phone calls dont line up with my time at the university over a year after leaving the school. To date, Ive received no notice from the university or its bookstore about any debt owed/missing book. I didnt give XXXX any personal info, just confirmed that they can call me back at the number they keep calling. Told them I would confirm the debt with my school first, just to be sure. XXXX said he would call me again if he doesnt hear from me by the end of the week. This is obviously a scam, but I dont know what good it will do to tell them, Youre a scammer. Dont call here again.

On Wednesday, XX/XX/2021, J Ritter Law PC contacted me in an attempt to collect a debt. They knowingly gave me false information regarding whether or not I could resolve the debt with the original creditor. I had rented a textbook which was not returned at the time of the aforementioned call. I asked if I could simply return it to them, and was told that I could not do that and it would not resolve the debt. I called the creditor ( the bookstore ) and they informed me that if I returned the book all attempts to collect debt would stop and the issue would be resolved. J Ritter Law PC knowingly and wrongfully gave me false information regarding my debt in an attempt to get me to pay them.

Received a letter dated XX/XX/XXXX stating XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX had been hired by XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX to collect a debt owed to XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX amount of {$440.00}. A contact representative name of XXXX XXXX and phone number of XXXX was provided. Email : XXXX www.jritterlaw.com A file number was provided. The debt collection itemized letter attached claimed I had an account with XXXX AR XXXX University XXXX XXXX XXXX- with an account number attached dated XX/XX/XXXX. I have never been a student at above named university, or been a customer of above named bookstore, or acquired any such debt with the names entity. This is a fraudulent account.

I have been receiving calls and letters from a J Ritter law firm saying I owe a {$370.00} debt to XXXX XXXX University XXXXXXXX XXXX from 2017. I know nothing of this alleged debt and have received no notice of this from the school or bookstore or anyone else until now. I called the school and they informed me I have no pending balance and I would not have gotten my diploma or been allowed to graduate with an outstanding balance. The law firm was very confusing telling me that nobody was ever required to notify me of this and that they dont even know if the debt is valid but would get back to me. Im not sure if this is some sort of scam or scheme to get money.

Hello, I have submitted a complaint first on XX/XX/XXXX, today I followed up with J Ritter Law and sent them an intent to settle. I just want to add this to my paperwork regarding my complaints. I have added the updated sheet of the violations and sent them the notarized copy. Thank you I cant wait to hear the response and move forward
