Many residents in our neighborhood are being inundated with mortgage refinance offers by out of state firms. When I agreed to allow Interest Smart to pull my credit report to see what rate/benefits I would qualify for, I was told the pull would not be a 'hard ' pull, which defines inquiries that remain on XXXX 's report for 2 years and affects credit scores. As it turns out, my current mortgage is best for me and no services from Interest Smart were needed. In contradiction to what the mortgage officer 's assistant XXXX told me, when I received a credit report copy, it disclosed not XXXX, but XXXX hard pulls that will stay on my record for 2 years and potentially affect my credit score. On XXXX XXXX, I remitted an email to loan officer XXXX requesting these inquiries be adjusted to XXXX 'soft ' inquiry ( those that do NOT affect credit score that most existing creditors, employers and insurance companies utilize ). To date, I have not received a response from anyone at Interest Smart. As you know, most seniors experience a significant reduction in income upon retirement, so it is critically important that unnecessary and unwarranted 'hard ' credit inquires be limited in event of potential future mortgage needs.
