Hi, My name is XXXX XXXX-XXXX. I have had 3 loans in my past from the Dept of Education. I had a subsidized, and an unsubsidized loan both of which were in my name. They were paid in full in XX/XX/XXXX and I havent heard or got any statements from the collection agency or the Dept of Ed to show proof of payment. Then, my mothers taxes were offset for her XX/XX/XXXX taxes. In effort to find out why, I called the agency which, at the time, was XXXX XXXX. They said the loan was in MY name and had MY birthdate but my MOTHERS social security number. To fix this, I sent my s.s. card and ID along with my mothers. Following, I hadnt heard back, or got a statement or anything so it was my poor choice to think it was out of default and I honestly didnt remember. I got pregnant towards the end of XX/XX/XXXX. So, my mother did her taxes the following year- which by the way, the collection agency wouldnt even speak to her because it was in my name- and her taxes were offset a second time. In fury, I called XXXX XXXX. They said the loan was taken care of and there were no further payments due and I would get a statement in the mail. Again, I received nothing. So, here we are, its time for my mom to do her XX/XX/XXXX taxes. Before she filed I called the US Dept. of Education just to be sure. They said to contact Immediate Credit Recovery Inc. because there IS still an open loan which is still under my name. I called them, they said this loan is now up to {$7000.00} and her taxes would be offset again. I was LIVID. I called and filed a complaint with the US Dept of Education and I called Immediate Credit Recovery again. They basically said they can not help me until I send my information to them to fix the name on the loan. Im a single XXXX year old mother and theres something very unsettling about giving your social over and over to 3rd party agencies. Then, I received a letter from the US Dept of Ed saying they agreed to settle this loan at the amount of {$5000.00} and no payments are due and the debt is considered paid in full. I couldnt have been happier! She filed her taxes, took that letter, and we thought everything was okay. Her taxes were now offset for the THIRD year in a row. I called the US Dept of Education and they said that letter was pertaining to a loan I paid in full in XX/XX/XXXX ( as mentioned earlier ). WHAT! My mother is a single mother as well and works her butt off. In no way is this fair or even legal for that matter and if I could afford a lawyer I would. But we cant catch a break and I desperately need help. Thank you very much for your time.

After successfully completing my adult education and securing a career that allows a salary to begin paying back my school loan debt to the Dept. of Education, I shared a long call with the collection client handling my account with the Dept. of Edu., named Immediate Credit Recovery , Inc. During the call, I was able to secure a monthly payment plan of {$500.00} on the correct amount of debt owed of {$57000.00}. On both the government letterhead and the collection company 's letterhead, this is the correct amount shown as due and to be collected. All seemed great, now. I had talked with them, worked out and began paying on the re-payment plan, and was so happy to have the better career and paying back what was borrowed. Then, in XX/XX/XXXX, the collection agency sends a new letterhead with an unexplained new amount due, {$68000.00}. No explanations, just quietly changed the amount due to a nearly {$14000.00} extra profit on their part. I called and talked with a person with the collection complaint department for my state, and he carefully explained that unethical collectors will, sometimes, change the amount due. The idea is that since the agreement has been made, most people just stay locked into making their payments and forget about the loan. I saw a XXXX XXXX episode, where he said the same thing. He implored people to save every piece of writing from collection companies and compare for changes. He and the person from the state were right. I was happy n content that I had an agreement and was making payments as planned. But, luckily, I looked at the statement, and without notification or explanation, they added {$16000.00} +/-. I have all documentation from the Dept. of Education to show the correct amount due, and from the collection agency, that showed the correct amount then the increased amount, too. All on letterhead from the company. I was so proud to have been successfully paying on a target debt amount and watching it go down. Now, such devious behavior that was mentioned on XXXX XXXX show and by the state dept. of consumer affairs has happened to me. I 'm proud to have used my school loans to better my career and to have begun faithfully paying it back. But, such changing of numbers has hurt my encouragement. Just like the XXXX unethical changing of numbers and overcharging, Immediate Credit Recovery has had many complaints filed with other states and agencies, as I learned from talking with them. Please help.

The agency, Immediate Credit Recovery Inc, stated over the phone on XXXX XXXX, that they had tried to contact me at an address I moved from in XXXX 2013. I only discovered there was a court decision when I saw that they had taken {$160.00} out of my XXXX SSI on XX/XX/XXXX. I have called and also emailed them. I was referred to their " XXXX department '' once the original representative, a XXXX XXXX, discovered I was on XXXX with the judgement that I was unable to work. But their XXXX department has not returned my calls and I 've been calling for XXXX week now. I have asked to see the court order, and the original debt, as I was under the impression that when XXXX took money from my court ordered back pay, my entire student loan debt was paid. I spoke to collectors prior to my XXXX award, at which time I had been XXXX homeless for about 6 years, so I did not refuse to pay the debt, I honestly had nothing to pay the debt with. This is a fact that another credit agency took the time to verify, so I do n't understand why this agency could not do the same. I have tried to tell the credit agency that with my current rent, after they take the {$160.00}, it leaves me only {$17.00} for the month. I can not easily find cheap housing, as I have been denied housing without a co-signer, because, I have been told, my monthly SSI payments of {$1000.00} are not enough for me to rent an apartment by myself. I currently have to rent month to month. I would appreciate at the very least to have the paperwork in my hands, for my records, to settle my debts once and for all. I do not understand why the agency could not find me at my present address in XXXX Michigan : I have lived here for over 2 years now, and other agencies have found me, such as the California XXXX XXXX. Also, they found my bank account information, which is a different bank than the one I used in XXXX XXXX. This is causing me enormous XXXX, which I understand is not easy for people just doing their job of debt collection to sympathize with. But I have little and sporadic family or social support here in Michigan, I am quite isolated and I feel helpless at this point. I am trying to find cheaper housing but until then, I do not know how to live on {$17.00} a month. Thank you for your time and consideration,

I have contacted lenders numerous years ago informing them that I was XXXX and going through social security for SSI benefits, Supplement Security Income. I am XXXX XXXX and was expecting a payment which I was owed from XXXX XXXX in a lawsuit that was stolen from my family and myself. I have limited income and we desperately needed the funds to assist with additional expenses do to the Coronavirus. We had been eagerly waiting on the money and I was blown away to find out that the funds were taken by this company Immediate Credit Recovery Incorporated. I never heard of the company and never received any contact from them but if I had, I would have sent them the paperwork stating I am XXXX XXXX. I thought the loans had been discharged because of my XXXX. I am asking for this company to refund the money that was taken as we are in desperate need of it.

My wife will be XXXX in XX/XX/XXXX. There is a Federal Student Loan approx. XXXX that she owes. At one point, around XX/XX/XXXX, the debt was paid down to $ XXXX but this debt now has ballooned to an amount in excess of $ XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX her Social Security direct deposit came in at XXXX instead of the XXXX that she receives every month. We called SSA and found out that her money was routed through the Dept of Education ( DoE ). I called the DoE and a recorder said that there is a specific collection agency ( XXXX ) that handles my wife 's loan, so apparently this XXXX decided to reduce her pay by XXXX to go towards the student loan. Supposedly she was sent a notice which has never arrived. We have lived at the same address since XX/XX/XXXX. Is there anything here that is not legal?

XXXX XXXX XXXX erased an incorrect debt amount from my credit report on 2017. I thought that the problem has been solved by that time, but today I discover that after that, they sold the loan to the XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX and then that institution transfer the deleted account to the XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. For that situation I have been denied from receiving federal aid in order to start my XXXX degree. Why after 11 years and a deleting process of wrong information they are trying to charge me under the name of a new collection agency. Its sound that something fraudulent. The new agency said that the debt is in my credit report but its not. I called XXXX and check online XXXX and XXXX and I dont have nothing on my credit report. Why they are doing this?

a phone number has called me and my family and my JOB saying I am being investigated and will be served papers and a complaint will be filed in my county ( which nothing has been filed ) I called the number back to ask what the name of the company is and they would not tell me who they are. All they said is they are the division of processing and kept asking me for a case number. She refused to give me a company name. I do receive threatening call like this all the time. In the past I paid two loans off and it was to a scammer instead of the proper people. It seems I am on a list forever and ever now of con artist trying to extort money from me. XXXX XXXX has also contacted me threatening the same message.

I have been attempting to contact XXXX. in order to begin a process of rehabilitating my student loans. This is the end of the third week I have attempted to contact them. Each time I call I am referred to the Administrative Wage Garnishment department where a recording asks me to leave a voicemail with my information. I have left several voicemails and continue to call with no reply. They are ignoring my requests because my wages are already being garnished.

They 've called a few times to explain my options for repaying student loans within the same week. I 've explained my work schedule and that I 'm in the habit of doing research on companies I 've never dealt with before paying them any sum. Agreed to call them back Wednesday afternoon ( after work ). The follow up was to contact me at work to further push the issue while I was at work on Wednesday.

I had thought that my student loans were deferred. I applied for that when I had to take off for family illness. I did n't hear anything until I got the paper that they were taking my tax refund. I had no chance to review or dispute or even to make a payment arrangement. This puts our financial situation at risk. We needed that return to catch up on bills. .
