This is an exchange of emails I've sent and received from HESAA, with no sign in the last five years of making my loan payments more reasonable for my financial situation. Then why tell me it might help me? I don't know how that's NOT misleading. Also, HESAA won't think about the thousands suffering already and implement a way for them to become current? That seems asinine, for lack of a better term. Wouldn't HESAA make more money off people willing to pay back their debt, and in turn, recommend their services to the next generation? What will be done for us, those of us who need something NOW, and have already borrowed? However, I'm now seeing information published that suggests it is for PROSPECTIVE borrowers. From: XXXX XXXX To: servicingandcollections@hesaa.org, Date: XX/XX/2017 XXXX XXXX Subject: My account To whom it may concern: You're likely a person just trying to get by, like me. I get it. But I am at my breaking point. HESAA has been garnishing my minimum wages since XX/XX/XXXX, I believe. Isn't that enough? I mean, this is after me spending YEARS trying to get assistance with ADJUSTING my payments, not even eliminating them. Just helping me to pay them, since I work a minimum wage job part time and I CAN'T afford to pay my entire month's salary of $XXXX a month to student loans. And please don't tell me to get another job - because I am the primary caretaker of a child and of two XXXX XXXX parents, so there is no time. I've begged HESAA to meet me halfway, but they refuse. So I finally said, whatever. Let them take 10% of my wages. BECAUSE I CAN'T DO ANYTHING ELSE. If I was sitting on a mountain of money, I'd give HESAA what I owe just to get them out of my life. That being said, for the love of all that is good, STOP SENDING ME AND MY COSIGNER MAIL about my loans. Please. Do you honestly think that I can manage to pay the bill other than through wage garnishment? You have my social security number - look up how much I make. I don't understand your logic. You're already slowly bleeding me dry, but now you want to treat me like I actually have OPTIONS? What are those options? Enlighten me. Oh wait, there aren't any. Why? Because your organization falsely advertises itself as being a state entity (with the implication of government backed repayment), only to rope in people and enslave them for 20-30 years of their lives, all while lying and saying "we have options." Consolidation? Tried - didn't qualify. THAT'S IT. That's your huge wonderful customer service capacity. That's what you've told me. I'm already giving you what you said you'd take. So do me a favor, and STOP SENDING ME AND MY XXXX PATIENT COSIGNER FATHER LETTERS before I sue you for years of on going harassment. Trust me, I've been working on a lawsuit. And you know what's even worse about all this? I used to work for HESAA. I gave four years as a XXXX, in honest full time work, all the while promised a permanent job. I know all the word games that are played in your brochures, because guess what? I once wrote about half of them, along with press releases and op-ed articles for HESAA. And just like all of your other empty promises, that full time job never came to fruition either. In a way, I'm glad, because at least I don't have to lie on a daily basis to earn a paycheck, however small because of HESAA. Chances are no one will bother to respond to this, but I feel a lot better now. If on the extremely slim chance you'd like to have an adult conversation about readjusting my monthly payments to reflect my disposable income, I'd gladly talk to you. Otherwise, have a nice day. On XX/XX/XXXX, I received a letter from an attorney 's office, XXXX XXXX, XXXX located at XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX, NJ XXXX that I owed a debt to NJ Higher Education Assistance. On XX/XX/XXXX, I submitted a letter to the law firm formally disputing the debt and asking for proof of this debt. ( See attached letter ). Also, on XX/XX/XXXX I ran my credit report to investigate this claim, and all reports from each credit reporting agency reported ZERO accounts in default, zero late payments and had absolutely NO record at all of a debt to the NJ Higher Education Assistance. ( See attached credit reports from each agency dated XXXX ). On or about XX/XX/XXXX, I was in the process of purchasing a home, and my lender, XXXX XXXX ran my credit report and at this time, yet again, there are no records of any late payments, or any outstanding debt to NJ Higher Education Assistance. ( See attached lender report ). You can imagine my surprise that only 6 short weeks later, I was declined a refinance application because my credit report was now reporting this loan in default for well over 90+ days, and it significantly dropped my credit score and my lending qualification. Furthermore, I never heard anything back from either NJ Higher Education Assistance or from the law firm, XXXX XXXX. It was only a year later when I was preparing to refinance my mortgage on XX/XX/XXXX, that my lender advised me that there were now two delinquent accounts reporting negative information for a total debt in the amount of {$5600.00}. It was HESAA 's responsibility to report this to me immediately, and they never did. To date, I have still not received proof of the validity of the debt. However, I have since learned on my own that I am listed as a co-borrower for this debt. Therefore, my issue is not the actual debt. It is the fact that the lender never reported this account on my credit profile in over 7 years. At no point did the lender notify me that the original borrower was behind. The lender NEVER sent me invoices or notices of the account being late. The lender NEVER gave me any opportunity to work with the original borrower to bring this account to a current status. The lender then defaulted on this account and sent it to collections. After a year of this debt being parked, it was only when I went to apply for a refinance that the collection law firm posted this debt with all if it's late payments on my credit profile. Then, a year after the account defaulted they reported all the late payments on my account. This directly goes against the Fair Credit Reporting Act which requires lenders to send notice before reporting negative information to credit reporting agencies. This lender, NJ Higher Education Assistance regularly extends credit and regularly furnishes information to the consumer reporting agencies. In fact, it was regularly reporting information on the original borrower. At no time over the course of 7 years, did it EVER report any information on my credit report. Furthermore, NJ Higher Education Assistance failed to notify me and failed to give me any opportunity to bring this account to a current status. I was never provided with any written notice or communication from the lender, including any billing statements, late notices, etc. Thereafter, I disputed the debt with the collection law firm representing NJ Higher Education and again they failed to provide me with any information on this debt. After parking the debt for a year, they then reporting all the late information to the credit report agencies as I was applying to refinance my home. Therefore, my loan was denied. In addition, NJ Higher Education Assistance refuses to speak with me directly after my several attempts to contact them. They always redirect me to the collection firm, XXXX XXXX who also refuses to acknowledge my claim. All they say is that I owe this debt and I must pay. They refuse to remove the negative information off of my report. They also failed to provide me with any documents of the validity of the loan to date. Lastly, I received a notice from the NJ XXXX XXXX ( attached ) informing me that they will now hold my NJ XXXX XXXX to apply towards this debt. Once again, I was never notified about this loan, and now they are taking multiple actions to hurt my credit and hold my tax rebate. NJ Higher Education Assistance has caused me undue harm by failing to notify me for years about this debt. They should not get away with destroying my credit history when they neglected their duty in notifying me of this debt, and failing to report to me that the original borrower was falling behind.

I co signed for XXXX student loans for my son.I have been trying to work with NJ Class Loans since XXXX. All XXXX loans were in good standing at that time. Then I lost my job as XXXX in XXXX due my employer moving to XXXX.I begged for income contingent payments as my son was incarcerated and payments/interest on unemployment were not possible. NJ Class did not respond and I was turned over to XXXX XXXX XXXX, who stated that I did not qualify for hardship, even on unemployment.I dealt with XXXX and XXXX XXXX in XXXX.I contacted the Federal Omnbudsman in XXXX, who responded she had no jurisdiction over NJ Class, to check back as she had received several pleas from others. In XXXX, I went to court and agreed to pay $ XXXX/month on the judgement for XXXX loan, now {$9200.00}, which will take me 6 years to pay.NJ Class stated they were unable to reduce the interest of 7.25 % .I made my first payment XX/XX/2013.Instead of allowing me to pay off XXXX at a time, I received a letter dated XXXX stating the remaining XXXX loans were consolidated, a total of $ XXXX.I consulted a few lawyers who advised me that NJ Class could only place XXXX wage garnishment on my wages.I stopped paying the judgement because $ XXXX $ XXXX/month garnishment on the XXXX consolidated loans would be financial disaster. We went back to court for wage garnishment, and the judge reduced wage garnishment from 10 % to 4 % of my gross earnings for the $ XXXX.It will take 6 years to pay off.XXXX XXXX came after me again within a week of court for the other XXXX consolidated loans, about $ XXXX.I wrote to Gov XXXX for help, and he forwarded my letter to NJ Class.I received a reply from XXXX XXXX who stated that I never made a payment on the judgement in XXXX XXXX and they were proceeding with a lawsuit against me for the other XXXX consolidated loans. This was my answer for income contingent payments and help.Although I agreed to make an additional payment of $ XXXX/month until the wage garnishment was satisfied, NJ Class is looking for a minimum of $ XXXX/month that I can not possibly afford. I have been advised by lawyers that the next step is to put a levy on my bank account, leaving me $ XXXX/month. My mortgage is over $ XXXX/month.How can anyone live on less than $ XXXX/month? How is this possible? I grossed {$36000.00} in XXXX, {$37000.00} in XXXX.I do n't understand why I am being driven out of my house of 23 years that I worked hard to keep and raise XXXX boys as a single mother.I am paying what the judge ruled was reasonable and affordable. It is not enough for NJ Class, and I am being prosecuted to the " full extent of the law '' according to XXXX XXXX.I have never refused to pay income contingent payments. They have none that I can afford.NJ Class is relentless, unyielding and inflexible. It is clear that I am not able to afford the inflated repayment of {$45000.00} for XXXX loans that originally totaled $ XXXX.Yet I am being driven to financial ruin at the age of XXXX.I am too young to retire and live on early retirement.I am unable to afford medical care for several health issues, but NJ Class is prosecuting me to the full extent of the law.My " crimes '', as I see it, are : I gave birth to my son, wanted him to succeed by co signing on student loans, my employer moved to XXXX, leaving me jobless in the worst economy in my lifetime, I am XXXX, have several health issues, and am underemployed. It is tough to get a job in this job market at my age, if not impossible.I have no college degree and can not get into management again.I was unemployed 3 years before I got my current position in XXXX XXXX as an accounts payable clerk.I have tried to refinance these loans but my credit is ruined because of NJ Class.Had I known how brutal NJ Class is, I would NEVER have co signed on any of their loans. How can our government allow this? Is there any help available for me?

I went to school at XXXX XXXX XXXX. At the young age of XXXX I really did not know what taking out a loan would mean for me nor had I ever dealt with any kind of debt before. There was no education given to me about what the consequences would be taking out a loan this large and I had no idea what would await for me once I graduated. I did not think much of it and the entire time I was attending college I thought I would just be using my degree I paid all this money for to get a good job that paid well and easily pay back the loans in time. After graduation I soon realized that this mentality was completely incorrect. This is when I began receiving bills from NJCLASS for close to $ XXXX/month on top of the federal loan I had to pay back which about another $ XXXX/month. This was very unsettling and there was no way for me to pay this kind of money straight out of college. It was not easy to find a job after graduating and it probably took me about 1-1.5 years to even find a salary position. During this time I had tried deferring the payments until I had more income and after I could no longer defer it I was just sending as much in my payments as I could given what I was making. How is a young adult supposed to survive on their own under these conditions? I was having difficulty just paying the loans back, forget about me having enough money to buy a car, rent/buy a place to live, start a family, etc. Then just as I was about to have enough money to make these outrageous monthly payments in full I come home to find out that my XXXX loans had defaulted and were sent to a collection agency without much warning at all. It would have been nice if they warned me that my loans were about to be sent to a lawyer 's office that would be tacking on even more money and making my payments even higher allowing for no form of consolidation or rehabilitation. This is when things really got ugly and worry and stress completely consumed my life. I had no idea what dealing with a collection agency meant for me as they mentioned that they could sue me. I started to panic and wound up seeking out a lawyer to talk to about what my options were.I found out that there was no way to rehabilitate. I do not see why the loan could not have been rehabilitated after making consecutive on time full monthly payments. The collection agency had also tacked on about an additional $ XXXX in legal fees to the total amount I owed for my XXXX loans which just seems criminal. They also said I would need to pay them $ XXXX/month now. I could n't believe what was happening to me, if I was already having trouble paying how would making me pay all this extra money help? My lawyer I was seeing told me I either had to agree to pay them the $ XXXX/month or if I could not come up with that I would have to file bankruptcy. I spent awhile mulling over if bankruptcy was the right choice for me because I was unsure how I would come up with that much money. I became so stressed out over this as I could not believe a XXXX year old had to consider bankruptcy because he chose to go to college. I kept just thinking how did my life come to this? I eventually decided I would not file bankruptcy because I did not know how that would affect the rest of my life going forward and I chose to live with my parents and basically have my entire paycheck go to this payment. This made things really hard for me because I did not have money for anything else and the stress and anxiety continued to pile up. I tried many times to work with the collection agency to see if they could lower the payments or work out an alternative payment plan but they would not budge. I am now XXXX and I am still forced to live with my parents and unable to move forward with my life. How can no rehabilitation program be offered? I can not move forward with my life in this situation.

I would like to report the abuse and consumer harassment committed by XXXX HESAA ( XXXX Higher Education Student Assistance Authority ). I, and probably many others students like me, am a victim of the tyranny of this institution. I 'll try to be as brief as possible but I can submit proof of the abuse committed against me by HESAA. XXXX HESAA granted me a student loan in the amount {$20000.00} in XX/XX/XXXX. I left school due to financial and personal difficulties in XX/XX/XXXX. I went back to school XX/XX/XXXX and received a letter from HESAA with a new payment plan starting XX/XX/XXXX. I had to put my studies on hold again due to no transportation from home, school, and work. I was able to return XX/XX/XXXX and XXXX continuously sent me their invoices due while I was still a full-time student. XX/XX/XXXX my loan went into default ( I was still a full-time student at this time ). In XXXX XXXX I received a letter from HESAA 's XXXX based lawyers, XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. They took me to court ( Docket # XXXX ) for the amount {$23000.00} plus accruing interest. My case was selected for a mandatory non-binding arbitration. Although the stamped mediation invitation letter was dated XXXX XXXX XXXX. HESAA ruthlessly sent me a Plaintiff 's Arbitration Statement requesting, once again, payment exceeding the {$23000.00}. The mediator dismissed the case without prejudice on the ground that I was in school when the loan was entered into default and for the amount of {$23000.00} only. Outside the mediation we verbally agreed to go to court, instead, HESAA decided to reinstate and re-capitalize the debt for a whopping amount of $ XXXX.We sent a letter and called HESAA asking why the decision of hiking up the price was made when in court it was not only dismissed but told to return to the amount of {$23000.00}. Not only that, but HESAA never took the default off of my credit which tremendously affected my financial situation. I returned to my studies XX/XX/XXXX to XX/XX/XXXX. During this time HESAA received the notification that I was enrolled as a XXXX XXXX XXXX. However they continued to send me statements not only with the wrong amount but also ignoring the signed agreement between HESSA and myself ( option 3 ), which I am not to pay while enrolled in school. HESAA is defaming my character stating I am liar regarding my previous enrollment in school and sent this back to the court with a new docket number. At this time the new amount they were demanding was {$38000.00}. My case was again selected for a mandatory non-binding mediation, To my surprise I was shocked when I received a judgement on XXXX XXXX for the full amount of {$38000.00}. Not even giving me a chance to once again prove my case. I am no lawyer, this whole time I was acting pro se but I strongly believe that HESAA and their XXXX lawyers took complete advantage of my situation. The case should 've been resolved at the first mediation because I even proposed a payment plan based on my income and for the judge to decide. Instead I have to pay an additional {$15000.00} for the unjust treatment brought upon me from HESAA. I can provide more information regarding the abuse ( over XXXX pages ). There 's even an affidavit signed by the attorney that I defaulted the loan based on an erroneous administrative mistake. They were asking me to pay interest ( option 2 ) when I signed for option 3. I am currently receiving letter of debt collection from HESAA lawyers.

On XX/XX/XXXX, I signed up for automatic pay with my NJCLASS loans account. I did this so that I could prevent any future payment issues coming up from XXXX, as I know that missing a student loan payment can have severe consequences on one 's credit score. That day, {$78.00} was taken out of my account. The same amount was taken out the following month, XX/XX/XXXX, and I assumed that that was what I was expected to pay moving forward. Then in XXXX, that amount changed to {$150.00}. When I called NJCLASS to ask about the amount increase, they suggested that it was due to the additional small loan that I requested for the spring semester. This made sense to me, so I went along with. Then came XXXX, when yet again, my payment spiked up to {$310.00}. This time when I called ( and I did this several times due to confusion on their end ), I was given no clear answer about the sudden change. They summed it up to a missed payment, which I explained made no sense since I was enrolled in THEIR automatic payment program to avoid this exact problem. Nonetheless, I was given the run around and after many frustrating calls, I gave up and hoped they would figure out the set payment amount by next month. And for the next 3 months, it seemed like they had finally sorted it out. For the months of XXXX, XXXX, and XXXX, I was charged a set rate of {$240.00}, and I budgeted accordingly for such. So you can imagine how disappointed I was to wake up today, XX/XX/XXXX to a negative sum in my bank account. This month I was charged {$360.00}, for which I was not ( and couldn't have ever been ) prepared for. The little money that I had put aside for other bills ( besides the expected XXXX ), was taken with no forewarning. I called the NJCLASS office the moment I woke up to the overdrawn alert from my bank, and was told that this whole time, my monthly payment amount had been set incorrectly. I was not being charged the full amount I owed since signing up for the Automatic payment system in XXXX, and because of said faulty system, I was seriously behind on payments. Not only is this current month 's payment incorrect, the past year 's payments have also been incorrect. Because of this, I now owe an additional delinquency amount of {$370.00}, with no way to pay for it. My actual monthly payment was supposed to have been {$480.00} a month this whole time. Had the Autopay done its intended job and charged me the full amount, this would not have happened. I also would have made the proper arrangements/decisions to ensure that I had the extra {$240.00} in my account every month. Because their system failed, I am left with less than no money, and no way to compensate for other important bills, let alone this one. I pleaded with the office for some kind of relief/assistance, especially since they themselves admitted to it being an error on their end. I was given nothing. I have just unsubscribed from the Autopay system, but the damage has already been done. This situation has affected both my mother and my credit scores negatively, and of course we had no way of knowing that this could have happened. I would have expected a government agency to at least have their Autopay system down, and I can't be the only one experiencing this, not to mention in the midst of this global pandemic. The past year has been difficult enough, but this takes the cake.

I am one of two co-si gners on my son 's NJ-Class Student loans. There are a total o f XXXX lo ans that are now being managed for collection by the XXXX XXXX XXXX , XXXX XXXX , XXXX . Without our presence, these loans were in court as a judgment against my son for default. He was not able to find work directly following college and could n't pay the loans. They wanted $ XXXX /month, initially. The loans totaled around {$110000.00}. The plan was for my then husban d ( other co-signer ), and myself to refinance our home and pay off the loans, but, he divorced me and I lost the home in foreclosure. I was able to do a Short-Sale of the home eventually, but had no collateral. I had to walk away with nothing. I moved in with my mother and have no property of my own. My son, has had XXXX jobs, there is no job security these days. He also has a young daughter and child support to pay. I am the only one able to make payments on this loan and I am retired. I pay $ XXXX /month to a black hole, literally. There is no way this is going to pay off these loans in my lifetime. I have numerous health issues, but they do not fit XXXX XXXX '' s definition of XXXX therefore, I can not have my co-signer status removed. I have spoken numerous times with the case manager at the firm about settling for a smaller amount but I have been told it is not their POLICY to negotiate, settle, or consolidate. They take what little State of NJ tax return I get, last XX/XX/XXXX they took every dime I had out of my checking and savings accounts for missed payments. It was either pay them or not eat. I had to show them proof that all my bank funds were from my pension, so eventually, they put the money back. I began bankruptcy proceedings last Spring in order to free up money to be able to make the $ XXXX /month p ayments. I can not get any outside loans to consolidate or pay off this debt because they have a default status on my credit report, and a judgment against me that prevents my getting credit. I do not have any family with money, so I can not borrow from family as they have suggested. I find their collection practices appalling. They will not work with the consumers. All of my payments go to their fees, interest, and some other filing stuff and not to the principle so the debts are going up, not down. I can not get any answers from them or any help because NJ-Class is not a federal run loan company. I am suffering. I can not live because of these agencies. They are predators, notoriously deceptive, and should be shut down. I feel that at this point, I am a victim and I want my debt removed or settled with an end-date. There are so many lawsuits and complaints against th ese two concerns, that I can not understand how they continue to be allowed to stay in business preying on debtors this way, most of them either elderly/retirees such as myself who are co-signers, or young college graduates unable to pay back these high interest rates, fees, and principles. Please help us. We are in desperate need. We just need help. Help has come for Federal loan bo rrowers, but for private and State loa n borrowers, especially in New Jersey, there is no help in site. I do n't understand why. We are just as important, just in dire straits. Please, help us.

I am writing in regards to an XXXX loan taken out to pay for the education of my daughter. For the past 6 years both myself and my daughter have struggled to make this loan 's necessary payments. My daughter 's business went bankrupt and my own XXXX XXXX fell on hard times and is not producing the same revenue as it once did. We have been unable to match the monthly payments of {$1300.00} since that time. For the past 6 years, I have explained to XXXX XXXX representatives that I am undergoing financial hardship and have requested assistance in lowering the monthly amount due or allowing me to refinance. Other than the option of deferment, no other financial assistance alternatives for economic hardship, no other avenue was offered by HESAA, but deferment. Ultimately deferment has not provided us with the ability to solve our financial crises. It has actually made payments even more difficult to make, as the amount due has not changed or lessened and interest has continued to accrue. Each time I have asked for better finance options, I have been told that they would not refinance with me and my only option has been deferment. In XXXX of XXXX, in desperation I borrowed money from a family member and managed to catch up and pay the past due amount, I phoned an XXXX representative and again begged for assistance in lowering my monthly payment. I was again, told to try and refinance the loan elsewhere. I was again told that no further assistance, no refinance option through HESAA and no income-based repayment plan were available. All of my requests for refinancing have been rejected by various companies, such as XXXX and XXXX XXXX, due to my home being dangerously close to foreclosure along with my financial hardship. My daughter 's credit has improved, but they will not allow me to put the loan into her name, so she is unable to refinance the loan. Since XXXX of XXXX, I've fallen behind on payments to XXXX and have since been in touch with representatives trying to get them to work with me to lower my monthly payment amount. I am unable to pay the current amount past due of {$9600.00}. I simply do not have the funds, nor does my daughter. Representatives are insisting the past due amount be paid in full. Furthermore I've been told that once the amount is paid, I may be eligible to apply for refinancing with HESAA ( a new option that the company apparently allowed sometime in XXXX-an option that was never mentioned to me before by any HESAA representatives until today, XX/XX/2017 ). So now I am writing to, once more, request some way of helping adjust the amount of my monthly payments to XXXX. Should I magically come up with the amount past due ( now totaling {$9600.00} ) and get caught up, I still may be denied a refinance option by HESAA, which would leave me right back where I started : with a monthly loan payment I can not afford. I want to try to pay back the loan that was given to me, that allowed my daughter to go to college, but with monthly payments I can not make and the inability to attain refinancing, I do not have a solution. Please help us in resolving this. Thank you.

I graduated a private university in XXXX. I had an academic scholarship, but I also required federal and state loans to attend. My parents had a college fund for me, but my sister unexpectedly passed away 9 months before I was to leave for college. My college fund went to her funeral costs. After college I did not get a decent paying job until approximately XXXX, although I was expected to pay a huge percentage of my monthly income to NJ CLASS and I could not keep up, I also had my first son in XXXX and communicated numerous times to HESAA that I need to go into economic hardship deferment while on maternity leave. This was not passed along to whoever it needed to be, and despite days upon days on hold for hours with NJClass and a newborn, I never got a person to talk to. They immediately put my loans into default despite my requests for economic hardship deferment. My loans were removed from the website and I had no way of paying anything. My mom ( cosigner ) was also paying interest until she could no longer afford it given a job change and divorce. Shortly after ( XXXX ) they took me to superior court, I prepared all of my correspondence with them and went to court, NJ Class attorney did not show, I never received a rescheduled court notice, until I was served with a notice that they obtained a judgement on me at a court date I was not notified of, and they put a lien on my mothers house. I am a single mom to XXXX children, and I do my best to pay all my bills, I am not late or in default on anything else, even my federal loans are consolidated and, in an income-based repayment plan. These loans are ruining my credit no matter how hard I try to pay everything, they either want me to pay the entire balance plus attorneys fees or nothing. They have garnished my moms and my state tax return every year since about XXXX, yet the balance keeps increasing exponentially. I want to take care of this and get this behind me I have finally gotten a good job and want to make payments, but I want to make sure they are being tracked and my account is current and then I need options for refinance and consolidation. I also do not believe I am responsible for attorney fees since their mess up caused this issue in the first place if they put it in deferment when I qualified for it and asked repeatedly and worked with me on the payments none of this would have happened. I am a responsible person, but the loans are not live on the website I had no way of paying them without saying I was responsible for lawyer fees. I I am the first person in my family to attend college let alone graduate, we did not know the predatory nature NJ Class practices before we took on these loans. I have found numerous articles that they have done the same to others. They have been haunting my mother and I for years. I must think about my own children going to college in 10 years and I want to have my own debt behind me.

On XXXX/XXXX/2015 I paid off account # XXXX in full in the amount of {$29000.00} to the collection agency " The Law Office Of XXXX XXXX XXXX '' who is the debt collector for the XXXX Higher Education Assistance Authority ( proof attached ) On XXXX/XXXX/2015 I initiated disputes with XXXX, XXXX, and XXXX to update their records and show that the loan had been closed out. On XXXX/XXXX/2015 All XXXX bureaus incorrectly returned a status of " reporting correctly '' after the investigation despite the fact that the loan had been paid off in full. I then used the CFPB to try to get them to correct the error, by launching a " executive investigation '' rather than the typical investigation. XXXX corrected the information upon receiving the documentation provided in this report. However both XXXX and XXXX completed the investigation stating that the account was being reported correctly, despite having official documentation from the creditor. The reports from both XXXX and XXXX state specifically that the " Creditor Claims The Information Is Correct '' which indicates that it is the original creditor that is providing the incorrect information to the bureaus. I am attempting to use the CFPB to contact XXXX XXXX to have HESAA correct the information being reported to the bureaus within 30 days as required under the FCRA. I however am officially stating before XXXX Hesaa launches their investigation into the matter that I do not authorize in any shape or form, a " hard pull '' of my credit records from XXXX, XXXX, or XXXX. Being that the loan has been paid off in full at this point and has been closed, the Promissory note has been fulfilled and is no longer active which was what XXXX stated gave Hesaa the legal authority to " hard pull '' my credit record last time. In addition since the account has been paid off, it is no longer an " active account of the consumer ''. If XXXX and the XXXX HESAA choose to initiate a hard pull on my credit record, let it be known that it is fully against my consent, and that I consider it to be a direct violation of the rights provided to me under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. I do however authorize XXXX and HESAA to conduct a " soft pull '' with the credit agencies to verify the information that is being reported to them. In addition to the credit reporting, the account also still appears to be legally listed as " in default '' with the State Of New Jersey despite the fact that the loan and all applicable fees have been paid in full at this point in time. I am requesting that XXXX Hesaa submit a request to the court to " vacate default judgement '' so that my record is XXXX again clear of any legal holds placed by the state in the past. If the state chooses not to comply, I will be pressing suit for damages caused by reporting false information to the credit reporting bureaus which equals a potential total of {$1000.00} for violating the FCRA.

I have loans with NJClass, a lender based in NJ that financed the bulk of my undergraduate student loans. After completing graduate school this XXXX, I had to ask them to defer my monthly payments that were to start right after graduation until I found a job. The only option NJClass offers is interest only quarterly payments. I was not told how frequent these payments needed to be made, they told me they could not give me an estimate regarding the amount to be paid, anything. On XXXX XXXX, I received a letter asking for $ XXXX to be paid in under a week. I called them stating it was unreasonable to give me such short notice and they explained I had no options but to pay or default. My father was able to work out an extension with them after hours on the phone. Today I called NJClass to tell them I needed to change my address. I also told them I had a statement I received a month ago saying my monthly payments would start in XXXX and wanted to confirm that that was due XXXX XXXX. The representative confirmed but then added I had another interst only payment due XXXX XXXX. I informed her I have yet to receive a bill and asked why I had a bill for something due XXXX XXXX, but not for something due at the end of the current month. She could n't answer. Next I asked her how much this payment due at the XXXX would be. She said she was n't sure. I asked if I could talk to someone with more definite answers and she said there was no one. I said goodbye and called back to try to get someone else on the phone. The person from the beginning of the call was very defensive and rude and could n't seem to understand anything I was saying. I explained the situation about the interest payment and she said told me it was indeed due on the XXXX and she was n't sure why a bill had n't been sent. I asked her what the amount would be. She said it would be $ XXXX. I explained that it is XXXX XXXX, and if they are so firm about it being due on the XXXX, why was a statement never sent. She said a bill would be sent to me now and that the number was firm. There is no way I can pay this on such short notice. PLEASE look into NJClass. They offer no rehabilitation for defaulted borrowers, no repayment plans for those still trying to find work, and do not send adequate communication. I ca n't possibly continue to pay on time if I never even receive the statements or any notice. Their online system currently tells me XXXX different numbers that I may or may not have to pay. It does n't break down my payments and loans. It does n't show how interest is being calculated and does n't even say that a payment is due. PLEASE help. I am not alone in this. It is a dire shame that NJClass is allowed to get away with what they do when I know your agency has looked into other lenders in the past with far more forgivable practices towards its borrowers.

Dear Sir or Madam : I have a huge problem with the XXXX. When I attended XXXX College in XXXX, NJ in XXXX I was only aware of a XXXX XXXX loan. That loan was paid in full in XXXX. However, shortly after I began hearing from the HESAA. They said that I owed them about the same amount of money. In XX/XX/XXXX, I received a notice that the HESAA loan was in default. I called the HESAA about it. The woman I spoke to was very unprofessional and curt with me claiming this loan to be mine. She promised me a copy of the promissory note and hung up on me before I could ask other questions. The same thing happened to me again with the same woman when I called a few days later. I never received that loan copy ; only more bills. Then in XXXX of XXXX I received notice of my loan debited out of my current salary unless I objected. I only work part-time and have been in and out of the Welfare system for the past three years. I sent in for arbitration and made a written request for my loan paperwork. It is that paperwork I received back that is making me so upset. Not only did I receive loan paperwork in my name for another loan provider on an outdated form with no loan amount on it and two paid off loans that were over 26 years old, but they had sent me a total of SIX other notes for three other completely different people. Each loan form had a different name, different addresses, different social security numbers, and different colleges. None of the loan documents, including my own, had the social security number blacked out. I am asking them for a least a year of XXXX XXXX service for this breach of confidential information. These people are obviously not me. I am wondering who they are sending my information to. I had complained to the arbitration board previously about the hang up calls and unprofessional service when I sent the letter requesting my paperwork. To my knowledge nothing was done about it. A financial hearing was started. Someone from the arbitration board did call, but they wanted my personal information which I refused to give. They had called me and not the other way around. The only information exchanged during that conversation was that there was new information about what they were claiming my loan to be and that I was upset about the breach of information of three other people. I am currently making a new complaint for the loan forms received as well and to request a different arbitration hearing. That paperwork has not been sent out yet. I am planning on sending it on Tuesday XX/XX/XXXX. The original complaint letters and the 8 promissory note copies for both myself and the three other people they sent me will be available for your review upon request. Thank you for your time and attention in this matter.

I currently have 4 student loans with HESAA. This is a State agency that gives out Private loans to students with co-signers for college. I currently have 4 loans that I co-signed with HESAA ( or NJ Class ). I have tried to dispute the accuracy of the loans and written to NJ Class in regard to this. They neither responded to my letters or marked my file " in Dispute ''. They basically continue to ignore me. The account numbers are : XXXX, XXXX, XXXX, XXXX. My son has tried to go to the NJ Class offices and ask for help in reducing the debt or refinancing them. He was harrassed and told he better pay or else. This is what led me to asking for a dispute and for the negative marks to stop on the account. My first letter was sent on XX/XX/XXXX and recieved by NJ Class on XX/XX/XXXX. This letter requested validation of the contract with signatures as competent evidence showing the contractual payments between HESSA and my son and me as the co-Signer. This letter also put them on formal notice that I was disputing what they were claiming. When I received no response, I sent a second letter ( one for each account ) which was sent on XX/XX/2016 and received on XX/XX/2016. Again, I again outlined what they were claiming and indicated they were put on notice of a formal dispute and did not mark the credit bureau as disputed and they added more negative remarks. The NJ Class/HESAA does not believe they follow the same rules as all other creditors and they simply ignore the law. If I can not get satisfaction from filing this claim, I will need to bring them to Small Claims court, but I do n't know if that helps. I need you to review what this organization is doing and help these students who are being harassed and lives ruined by this organization. They are breaking the law under the Fair Debt Collection Practices and I hope you can help me in resolving this. I have been paying this loan now scrambling to get money to pay them equaling on a monthly basis as they are ruining my life and the life of my child without any regard. When you call them, all they say is " you better pay ''. I 've even written the governor who has done nothing but given my letter to the attorney general who writes me letters telling me she found some mistakes in my file, corrected them and then says you must start paying. No option, no help, no evidence. Completely ignores anything I have written in my letter. All four accounts have each had the same letters sent and all four accounts have been ignored. You are my last opportunity to resolve this. I want the validation of the contract in regard to these loans with signatures and I want my life back by cleaning up the history of missed payments since they have broken the loan and have ignored my requests.

I received a loan from Higher Education with my parents as co-signers. 6months in XXXX ( I believe )! after I finished school my co-signers got a notice that I was late on my monthly payments and they needed to pay. I contacted Higher Ed and said i the primary ( living at the same address as my parents ) never received any notifications to start payment or how much my monthly payment would be. They said I know what I owe, so I should just pay it. i borrowed $ XXXX. It felt like they expected me to pay it upfront. Next month I never received any bill again but my parents received a second notice. I called, emailed, and hand wrote letters to them asking to please tell me what I owe monthly and to send ME the primary a bill. Again, they never did and their phone customer service wouldnt tell me again what I owed. I later got the first contact from them saying my loan was in default and being sent to a collections office. I felt like that wanted this to be the case so they would get a large sum upfront. The lawyer they sent the loan to was not willing to work with me. They told me to get a personal loan to pay the student loan off, or borrow $ XXXX from a friend. I was XXXXyr old I didnt have $ XXXX to pay upfront. Also told them If I had a friend that would lend me $ XXXX I would have never gotten a loan. I payed large sums of {$2500.00} and monthly payments of {$170.00} for 9 months with the verbal agreement they would contact the credit bureau to say I was making good on my loan and help my credit score a little. They never held up their end of the deal and in fact later said that is something they couldnt even do. I lost my job in XXXX and got XXXX shortly after. I couldnt afford to send my children to child care and my mother became XXXX, I had to declare bankruptcy, I currently live with my parents and take care of my mother and children. I contacted the lawyer recently and was told they would not allow me to make payments. They wanted a large sum to cover the loan. I could only afford to make {$50.00} a month and that wouldnt even cover the interest accrued every month. The lawyer asked why my father wouldnt send money since he is working and I explained he is the sole provider in a house of XXXX, there is no extra income he can give. I was told so hed rather pay other things instead of this collection I explained the mortgage is important, would you rather us default on the mortgage? I have other student loans with different companys as do my parents and we have never defaulted on any of them. Im at my wits ends. My credit is destroyed and my parents credits are affected as well. I dont know what to do anymore.

XX/XX/XXXX, my payment was lost. When I called customer service I was greeted by a nasty customer service respresentative who refused to help me. I then called the office XXXX, XXXX New Jersey, as Hesaa is a state agency. They told me that there was no one who oversaw the agency and no one to file a formal complaint with. They then transferred me to someone within the agency. I spoke XXXX and also emailed with them. Neither of them was responsive. At that point I made requests to have the notes on my account released to me. I have in writing that they would do this. This began XX/XX/XXXX. I did not receive the notes until I reached out to the Office XXXX XX/XX/XXXX. I was told XXXX, that I was not ignored, but I should be happy I received the information. I sent monthly emails XXXX with no response or limited response. He only responded to me once XXXX office told him that I had reached out to complain during her lunch break. I received an email from him a half hour after his lunch break. I also requested my records XX/XX/XXXX, which was documented in the notes provided to me by the XXXX of the Ombudsman. When I spoke with him on the phone he denied that I requested the information XX/XX/XXXX. The notes state that the information was sent to me, which is a lie. I never received any correspondence from Hesaa at that time. I also inquired why phone calls were missing from the notes. He stated that was all they had. The phone calls that were missing were when Hesaa made errors on my account. Hesaa has refused to provide in writing that they made any errors, even when they misapplied funds. They are also refusing to admit that my requests were ignored. They are unresponsive, unprofessional, disrespectful and lack common courtesy when dealing with the public. There is also an environment of cronyism. The Office XXXX is more in the business of covering up mistakes of its employees than investigating their wrong doing. In searching XXXX background he worked for a mortgage company, I do n't know that this qualifies him to be the Chief Compliance Officer for a State Agency for student loans. Also, the director of the agency is appointed XXXX. Is it a coincidence that the director went to the same XXXX school as the Chief Compliance Officer? Also how is there no one to file a complaint with against the agency in the state? Also, should n't the office XXXX be separate from the other staff? How is someone from the office XXXX XXXX XXXX mentioning my case to another staff member XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX during lunch? Is this appropriate?

Back in XX/XX/XXXX, I was laid off from my employer as they were heavily impacted by the covid19 pandemic. I had reached out to XXXX XXXX in order to apply to any Payment Reduction programs they could offer for borrowers in my position. They approved a reduced payment for a 6 month period for which they later advised could be extended if the application was approved again. When the program had expired, I received an email from the designated department approving the extension of my reduced payments. The following month after receiving this email as well as having a telephone conversation to approve this, I was sent a bill of {$350.00} that needed to be paid immediately on top of the monthly bill I normally receive. I reached out to their offices now for the third time in a month and they advised me that now I would need another Payment Plan on top of the existing XXXX that I made back on XX/XX/XXXX to pay the {$350.00}. I agreed to the second payment plan over the span of 6 months in spite of it now increasing my monthly payments to more than what I originally paid prior to being laid off back in XX/XX/XXXX. They verbally confirmed via telephone call and email that as long as I made my payments on time, the account would NOT be reported as delinquent and that all these arrangements will be updated on my account. After making the first payment reflecting the new amounts and both Payment Arrangement totals on XX/XX/XXXX, we received a letter on XX/XX/XXXX saying that they haven't received a payment and failure to do so would result in my account being reported as delinquent and my co- signer being reported to the credit agency. I reached out the XXXX XXXX again who in turn communicated that the Account Delinquency letters are computer generated and will continue to be sent until the {$350.00} is paid in full. They refused to confirm that the delinquency status will be removed from my account as well as whether or not my co - signer will be reported to the credit agency because of these " automatic notices ''. Their representatives are unable to help because they are not knowledgeable on how these stacked payment plans can be communicated clearly or how to update accounts. Their supervisors are not communicating all the restrictions that come with their complicated payment plans and how they affect the overall borrower and account. In addition, their supervisor team is disrespectful and immediately want to be off the phone instead of trying to empathize with their borrowers who are doing all they can to just PAY.

My Name is XXXX XXXX and I have graduated from XXXX University XXXX XXXX Nj in 2013 with nothing more than the daunting and draining stress of my student loans. I started paying back interest while in school, which was about {$520.00} on a quarterly basis ( mostly from the help of my mother ) and tried to consolidate my loans soon after graduation, but NJ Class was neither informative or helpful. I paid back as much as I could on time until things became unbearable and it spiraled out of control. Two years later, I 'm still struggling with repayment and the customer service with NJ Class has gotten worse. When I call to speak with someone about repayment and my financial situation I am spoken down to, rushed off the phone or even hung up on. I was even told " if you ca n't pay back the {$1500.00} a month there 's no point in paying {$500.00} a month because we will still garnish your mother 's wages ''. That is neither helpful, professional nor ideal feedback from a business. I understand that workers of student loan companies deal with a lot but the fact of the matter is, if this is the career they are in, professionalism must always be present. I am currently trying my best to pay all of my bills and loans but NJ Class is making it impossible. This has not only caused stress for myself but my mother has to also deal with the numerous phone calls, emails and letters from NJ Class. It has gotten to the point where they ring her at work ( which is by far, very disrespectful ). My mother did a great thing by co-signing my loans, in order to help further my education but the stress of repayment is physically making her ill. Six years ago, who would have thought that I would regret going to college since it 's taking such a toll on my mother? After long consideration and the upmost support from my mother, I have decided to accept placement in XX/XX/XXXX for my XXXX 's degree in XXXX. I am weary that NJ class may not put my loans into forbearance or even worse I may not be able to take out a loan for the year. I never thought that I would go back to school, but I found exactly what it is that I want to do with my life. Going back for my XXXX at University XXXX XXXX, XXXX is all I could ever want. It would be a tragedy if I could n't attend. In all honestly, I just wish that someone from XXXX would help me. It would help lessen the stress for my mother and I. Maybe if they explained things a bit more and were n't so rude, it could be easier.

I currently have 4 student loans with the New Jersey Higher Education Student Assistance Authority. My monthly bill is due on the XXXX of each month. I have made my monthly payment on each loan consistently since I began repayment of this loan in XXXX. I have not missed a payment. Due to a change in expenses, I was able to make an additional payment of {$400.00} on XX/XX/XXXX. I then paid my bill that was due on XX/XX/XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX. I noticed that the interest that accumulated between my XX/XX/XXXX bill and my XX/XX/XXXX bill increased, even though I made two payments within that time period. In fact, the amount of interest that accumulated was even more than when I make 1 single payment between each bill cycle. In general, my interest fluctuates each month, which is strange, because my interest rates are fixed. I called customer service on XX/XX/XXXX to inquire about two items : 1 ) the continuing fluctuation in interest charged per month even though my interest rates are fixed and 2 ) an explanation behind why the interest that accumulated between my XX/XX/XXXX bill cycle and my XX/XX/XXXX bill cycle was higher than any other bill cycle, even though I made an additional payment of {$400.00}. The customer service representative admitted that she did not understand why my loan payments were calculated the way they are and why so much interest had accumulated between the XX/XX/XXXX bill cycle and the XX/XX/XXXX bill cycle. She explained that " no one really understands '' how the bills are calculated in that department and could only offer that I refinance my loans. I explained that I understand I can refinance, but I still would like an explanation on my questions. She continued to urge me to refinance until I asked to speak with a supervisor for further assistance while I explore the refinancing option. She took down my information and said her supervisor will have to call me back since they are mostly remote due to the COVID pandemic. I understood and explained I will be waiting for a call. It is now XX/XX/XXXX and no one from HESAA has contacted me to address my questions. I believe my payments are not being handled properly and the agency has admittedly explained that they are unable to answer my questions about how my payments are being applied. I would like an audit on my account and an explanation on how my payments are being handled.

Hello, I have been requesting financial assistance in repaying my loan with HESAA since XXXX of 2017 to maintain a good credit score and payment history. My attempts to arrange special payment arrangements with HESAA, such as stopping payments due or lowering my monthly payment -- have been futile. Their response is always to either ignore my applications or reply days later saying to resubmit the entire application with a list of proof and documents. After I email what they request, I get no answer so I assume everything is set and my payments put on a special forbearance, only find out later my account is behind and delinquent. I have the most recent emails and application for Financial Hardship I submitted, to which their response, once again, has been to resubmit with more documentation. They are requesting my last two w-2 's and my 1040. The documentation they are requesting I can not provide. I have not worked in years due to illness and I haven't filed my 1040 as of yet -- I have filed for an extension through my accountant. I became a widow on XXXX of 2017 and I no longer have any form of income. What little I have in the bank is for food and utilities and other basics only. HESAA has sent me and my brother, the cosigner, a wage garnishment letter. After I applied and requested financial hardship assistance with HESAA in 2017, the turnaround time between their replies and their requests for " more information '' and instructions to resubmit a new application, has taken MONTHS and they have placed me under a wage garnishment threat. Wage garnishment, as I understand it, isn't only for wages ( which I have none ), but they can only include tremendous lawyer 's fees and other penalties and they can freeze and take what little I have in savings and loans I use to survive. Once they take your bank account savings, it is very difficult to get back from them. I see this as pure abuse and HESAA has the power to simply ignore or purposely elongate the time to grant you desperately needed payment assistance. Of course, if I had the money to hire lawyers and take this to court, I would, but I barely have enough to survive so I am at the mercy of HESAA to freeze my bank account, tack on tremendous fees, come after my brother as cosigner, ruin my credit, and place me on welfare and state assistance.

On XX/XX/XXXX ... I emailed XXXX about a couple concerns that I have. I have requested that XXXX exclusively communicate with me via email for any debts that I may owe. I asked them to please discontinue the daily phone calls to any of the numbers that anyone has provided on my account. I understand that I owe about {$450.00} dollars but I will continue to make payments until it is all paid off. An unnamed representative contacted me with this response : The staff does not have the ability to e-mail borrowers. The account is delinquent they will call parties that are associated with the loans. I had another concern that I addressed and need to be resolved ... A member of my family, XXXX XXXX, was added to my XXXX account a couple of years ago. Not sure why, but I was not contacted about this. It was her daughter ( XXXX XXXX ) that co-signed the loan, not XXXX XXXX. Unfortunately, my godmother, XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX in XX/XX/XXXX and I went into financial crisis. Through that time, XXXX decided to constantly call XXXX XXXX 's house and I every single day ... so many times that in anger in around XX/XX/XXXX she told the representative calling that her daughter XXXX XXXX and please stop calling. In some strange turn of events, they are claiming that XXXX XXXX is the co-signer for a loan she did not officially sign for. I have not received any information, paperwork or validation of her involvement in my loan. According to XXXX XXXX, a representative calls every day for the past year. There are mentions of " taking you to court '' and " we will cease your house. '' I am not sure what to make of this, but I want her to be deleted from my account. She had nothing to do with my loan/debt. XXXX XXXX response was : The person you are referring to below is a co-signer of the loan and is just as responsible for payments as you. They can not be removed from the loans. The staff does not and never threatens our borrowers with any such actions. Please maintain payment in order to elevate the calls. XXXX has not reached out to me for a solution or an attempt to help me with any financial difficulties, just continue to call and ruin our credit. I hope we can come to a civil resolution so this goes no further.

I contacted the loan company ( XXXX XXXX XXXX ). in XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX. I was hounded by the company to sign my son up for student loans. when I was told that my son could not sign for the loans. I was told when I signed that this was a federal loan program using state money and that upon graduation the loans would rollover into the federal loan program and my son would sign for the loans and I would not be the co-signer. They Lied. When I signed the note in XX/XX/XXXX I asked for a copy of the documents. I was told that they would send them to me. XXXX XXXX XXXX did not send me a copy. I made payments on his loans until XX/XX/XXXX, when XXXX XXXX XXXX sent me a letter telling me because my son had received a XXXX XXXX degree in XX/XX/XXXX, they would not except further payments because in the contract I signed, but never received a copy, there was a clause that if the student received a XXXX XXXX degree the loan would be for 11 years instead of 20 years. I asked for the paperwork for the change in the contract and an accounting of what I owed and a payment schedule. I never received that accounting and payment schedule. 6 months after I received the notice to stop payment I was told that I was in default. I called many times between XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX and I received many phone calls all with the same nasty message that if I did not pay in full they would ruin my credit.XXXX XXXX XXXX never sent me an accounting of my debt. XX/XX/XXXX I was working for the XXXX XXXX with a XXXX XXXX clearance. I have had credit since XX/XX/XXXX and never defaulted on any loans. the end of XX/XX/XXXX I had an interview with clearance personell. XX/XX/XXXX I was told that I had until XX/XX/XXXX to fix my credit problem. I call XXXX XXXX XXXX to resolve the problem with the same nasty people threathing me and my family. I retired because XXXX XXXX XXXX ruined my credit and I was unable to work because I lost my XXXX XXXX clearance. In in XX/XX/XXXX I received summons papers from an attorney representing XXXX XXXX XXXX. My original debt was around {$74000.00}. The summons has my current debt around {$200000.00}. To this date I have not had an accounting on the co-signed debt.

I am the cosigner on the loan for my son. My son graduated XXXX XXXX with a private loan debt {$170000.00} and federal loan debt of {$35000.00}. My son pays the federal and I pay the private. The grace period was requested, however due to financial hardships the account was reported as 180 days past due in XXXX XXXX although over {$6000.00} was paid for XX/XX/XXXX. Regular monthly payments were made as coordinated with the NJCLASS telephone representatives. During a telephone conversation with a NJCLASS representative the amount disclosed for the payment was not clearly identified by myself after a number of confirmations. The confirmed amount that I recorded for the payment was {$1000.00} whereas the amount requested by XXXX XXXX was {$1900.00}. After numerous telephone calls to NJCLASS for the scheduled payment for a number of weeks, each representative informed that the recorded telephone conversation were being reviewed. All attempts to pay the approximately {$900.00} discrepancy were not accepted by NJCLASS representatives and internet access to the account was no longer available. I was never contacted concerning the discrepancy of {$1000.00} and {$1900.00} and the account was directly handed to collections, the attorney office. After the account was forwarded to collections, regular monthly payments of over {$14000.00} have been made on this account to collections, attorney office. A number of attempts have been made to refinance this account, however NJCLASS first listed on credit report as " failure to pay '', however updated to " In collections '' which a number of private loan financing with not process. I am still attempting to locate a reputable loan financing company that will process this private student loan. The collections, attorney office, charges additional interest daily which has increased the loan to over {$200000.00}. My issue is the account should have never been forwarded to collections due to the miscommunication in the payment and no consideration was given to allow me provide the amount requested.

I co-signed a student loan ( NJCLASS ) for my daughter, XXXX XXXX, in XXXX. She was the first of our children to go to college and we were in unfamiliar territory when it came to financing. When my daughter left school in XXXX, she began to be contacted by her lenders regarding repayment of her student loan obligations. The NJ Higher Education Student Assistance Authority ( NJHESAA ) did not contact us, for whatever reason. XXXX began repayment with all of the other ( XXXX ) lenders and remains in good standing. We were eventually contacted by XXXX XXXX, a law firm that represents NJHESAA, and told that we were in default. We immediately explained that it was an oversight but signed the repayment agreement ( which DOUBLED the initial student loan amount ) to get in good standing. Payments have been made since XX/XX/XXXX and are current. Despite the fact that XXXX XXXX provides a letter showing the payments and stating in writing that the account is current, NJHESAA continues to report both XXXX and me as in default/delinquent. Both of our credit reports have been severely damaged due to this. I have attempted to deal directly with NJHESAA and they have told me they are free to report whatever they want and even though they acknowledge I am in good standing with XXXX XXXX, they will continue to report as they see fit until such time as the loan is paid in full. They are rude and have hung up on me multiple times. I have attempted to go through the credit bureaus with disputes but they have the same result. I am currently paying CreditRepair.com for their assistance in getting these incorrect reports removed, and am considering a Fair Credit Reporting Act lawsuit in the event that does not work because of the amount of problems this reporting inaccuracy causes. It has also prevented my daughter from consolidating her other loans for a more affordable payment because of the improperly reported payment status. I am sorry we ever got involved with a NJCLASS loan.

I took out NJClass student loans through HESAA during my time at XXXX in XX/XX/XXXX-XX/XX/XXXX for which my mom was a cosigner. The initial loans we took out totaled approximately {$80000.00} w/ a 6 % interest rate. My mother went into a 5-year bankruptcy in XX/XX/XXXX. The student loans could not be discharged through the bankruptcy, as she was a cosigner. It was not until this year ( XX/XX/XXXX ) once her bankruptcy was completed that HESAA, the administrating agency of the NJClass loans, reached out to my mother to inform her the loans were in delinquency and now totaled approx. {$130000.00}. During the course of her bankruptcy, HESAA did not contact me ( the direct loan borrower ) to inform me of payments, increased interest rates, and that the loans ultimately went into delinquency until my mother 's bankruptcy ended. My mother paid up currently to get them out of delinquency as of this month ( XXXX XXXX ). I am trying to consolidate the loans and maybe refinance them, as my current monthly payment is {$1000.00}, which I ca n't realistically afford. During the time of my mother 's bankruptcy she tried to consolidate the loans but they were never accepted yet NJClass continued to run up the interest on the loans without informing my mother or me. NJClass loans are private, which limits the options borrowers can look into for repayment. HESAA does not offer any loan forgiveness or modification programs. They also do not offer income-based repayment plans for NJClass loans and they refuse to work with borrowers to offer more affordable monthly payments. They only offer consolidation. I tried to consolidate the loans directly under NJClass and was denied approval based on my income. In short, I 'm looking to get the loan payments down to something manageable so I can work towards paying off the debt but this is extremely difficult when legislation favors HESAA and the bills regarding NJClass loans still will not help many people in my situation.

I began my full-time XXXX school program for my XXXX in late XXXX XX/XX/2009. All of my undergraduate loans except my NJ Class loans were automatically deferred due to me being a full-time student. When I called NJ Class to ask why they were still sending me bills, they said they would not automatically defer my loans and that I had to send them paperwork. I filled out the paperwork and sent it in. It took them until XXXX to actually put the deferral through. I did not pay in XXXX and XXXX XX/XX/2009 because I was a full-time student and did not have the money to pay. They marked my account delinquent, even though I sent them the paperwork to have my loans deferred. They must have taken forever to open up and process the paperwork I mailed in. They used to do the same thing to me when I mailed them checks. When I called them to work it out no one ever answered. If you do a search for NJ Class/XXXX on XXXX it becomes very clear there is something not right with their organization. I disputed this delinquency with XXXX I provided the necessary paperwork to prove I was a full-time student in XXXX and XXXX XX/XX/2009. They responded back that they checked with NJ Class and the delinquency was not an error. I do n't understand why they are taking NJ Class 's word for it when I have proof that I was a full-time student who was eligible for deferred status. If this delinquency is not removed, I will have a lower credit score than I should for two more years. I am in my XXXX and I would like to buy a home and start a family. I would also like to refinance my student loans. NJ Class 's error is going to keep costing me money in the form of higher interest rates on loans from my less-than-perfect credit score. This is the only delinquency in my credit report. I have other student loans and credit cards, and perfect payment records with all of them.

On Monday XX/XX/2020 I was contacted by XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. about a debt collection for private student loans from HESAA, after receiving a letter from his law firm on XX/XX/2020. He gave me a payment number that I would be unable to afford. I asked for a lower payment and his response was that wouldn't even cover my interest but if he were me he would send anything he could to them. He also stated this would continue to hurt my credit, before saying what I was offering was like " going into a car dealership and offering {$5.00} for a {$1000.00} car ''. Not only was the comment not appropriate for someone trying to work out a payment plan it was condescending and insulting. I had previously entered bankruptcy for this loan due to the fact that I could not afford the minimum payment and XXXX XXXX XXXX refused to work out a reasonable payment plan. Also on the HESAA website it states " During the pandemic emergency, HESAA instructed its private collection attorneys to suspend involuntary collection activities related to defaulted NJCLASS loans, such as filing court judgments and wage garnishments. In addition, during the state of emergency, your defaulted NJCLASS account will be reported to credit bureaus under the approved disaster code, which should not negatively impact your credit score. Please contact the private collection attorney assigned to your defaulted loan. You may continue to make voluntary payments on your defaulted NJCLASS loan, or you may request a modification to the payment amounts due to unemployment or financial hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic. If you need help getting connected to the private collection attorney, please let us know by sending an email to XXXX. '' and it sounds like they are still tacking interest on and also they are conducting involuntary collection activities.

I recently missed a payment. I work in XXXX and with the current situation it was simply overlooked. I truly do not understand how this company gets away with NOT calling or emailing or writing to their customers that they missed a payment. Where is the notice that indicates that if the loan is not paid, I would be reported to the Credit bureaus? I can't believe after all this time of trying to do everything right and improve my scores, that HESAA just reports a 30 day late report and destroys my score! Does HESAA really not have any obligation to the customer to put them on notice of a missed payment? I have since paid all of my loan up to date ( these are actually my sons loans but he is currently out of work, not that HESAA cares about what is going on in the world today ) and in fact have paid what is due on XX/XX/XXXX as well. If I had the means, I would pay these loans off today. It's just not that easy with Federal Loans for XXXX children that I put through school as well. But my Federal loans send me notices on a regular basis and they call me too. HESAA has all that information, but they do nothing. The Federal Loans also do not report to the credit bureaus until you are at 90 days past due. They do everything in their power to assist with making sure the payments can be made. I'm not asking HESAA to change their process except I do believe they owe it to those who borrow and have been repaying regularly to at least call, write, email.. do something to put the customer on notice. People are doing what they can to keep up and working in XXXX is Hard these days. I'm sorry I forgot to make a payment. But, why do you have to destroy peoples lives over a missed payment. Have a heart. Please take this notice back. It's not fair! Thank you! Stay safe.

My son and I took a NJ State loan out for school. It was for {$13000.00}. We had trouble paying the loan which came due while he was still in school. I also had 4 other NJ Hesaa loans out for my eldest son. All of them were paid late or had missed payments back in 2018. For some reason my second sons loan of {$13000.00} was sent to collections. It is now paid directly to an attorney firm ( XXXX XXXX, XXXX from XXXX, NJ ). I have been paying this attorney firms for almost 2 years on time and in fact, more than requsted each month. YET.. my credit report still shows that this account is still OPEN and is in Collections. It also indicates that it is a Charge Off. If it's a Charge off, shouldn't it be closed? Further it indicates that I still own the same {$13000.00}. which can not be correct since I've been paying more than I have to since it was sent to collections. The firm handling this account tells me they DO NOT REPORT TO CREDIT BUREAUS!! ... I would be more than happy to pay Hesaa for this loan, however I am told by the firm that I can not do that and the account belongs to them. How can Hesaa continue to ding me with a charge off for the pays two years??? They are killing my credit when indeed I have been paying all of them bills on time for well over a year. I also question how this account went to collections and not the others that I have with my eldest son? I do not believe that my account should be in Charge Off status post sending it to a collection agency and why it is NOT closed with Hesaa?? I need this address immediately. I have faithfully been paying on time and still get dinged? That is not fair and I ask that Hesaa remove all of the charge off notices going back to when they actually did charge it off and sent it to be collected.

In 2007, I made a decision to return to college to complete a degree I started 10 years prior. I was ineligible for student aid because although I was n't working, I am married. I had maxed out the amount of money I could take with XXXX XXXX so I borrowed from NJ class. When I graduated, I was sent a bill almost right away. I called to tell them that I was n't working and asked if I could defer/forbear the loan for a few months. I was told there were no options. With XXXX children to care for my husband and I had nothing to send while I was n't working. I called them back to make arrangements when I was finally able to obtain a job but it was too late and I was sued by their debt collection lawyers. I am now paying almost triple the amount per month than the original payment with the threat that if I do n't pay my wages will be garnished. I have talked several people out of taking loans with NJ class because their practices ; I was n't given any grace after graduation or any other options for repayment. I was n't trying to get out of my obligation, I just needed time to find a job or something that would have help during an economic hardship. NJ class feels they can get away with it because they do n't have to follow the same structure as the federal student loans but they ca n't be discharged on a bankruptcy because they are a student loan company so no matter how it impacts my family there is nothing I can do. I am forced to come up with a high payment that goes up {$50.00} every six months until it 's paid. Shame on NJ Class for giving people the false impression they are there to assist in the goals and dreams of students that just want to get an education but fall short on money.

I attended XXXX XXXX. School of XXXX and graduated in XXXX. The legal industry has not recovered from the recession. I am employed full-time XXXX in New York XXXX. I make {$65000.00} pre-tax, annually. I make {$3400.00} a month, post-tax. I borrowed from the New Jersey Higher Education Student Assistance Authority. When I researched and signed this loan ( really, XXXX separate loans ), I was under the impression the company was affiliated with the State of New Jersey, and as such, would have a loose enough affiliation with the Federal government such that it would be subject to Federal repayment guidelines. Total amount borrowed : {$180000.00}. The total monthly repayment amount of my NJ HESAA loans is {$1500.00}. On top of that loan, I also borrowed roughly {$80000.00} in Federal loans. My Federal loans have been in deferment/forbearance ( for XXXX and most of XXXX ) and until recently, IBR ( for most of XXXX, XXXX and barely XXXX ). I have been advised that my IBR Federal loans have expired, and was asked to re-apply. I did, and was recently informed by Nelnet ( the Federal loan processing company ) that I did not qualify for IBR. As such, Nelnet expects me to pay {$800.00} at the end of the month. HESAA, after repeated and courteous requests from me, refuses to offer ANY repayment cooperation. From IBR, deferment, reducing interest rates, NOTHING. I am youngish ( XXXX ) and fear that I will never be able to crawl out from under this rock of debt. I am writing to put CFPB on notice that NJ HESAA is a predatory lender and should be treated as such. Thank you for reading and for your time.

I graduated from XXXX XXXX in XXXX of XXXX. I immediately began repaying my XXXX XXXX loans. ( So, I do n't have enough money to make my payment less, but I have enough money to keep paying XXXX} a month ... makes no sense ). Since my loans have been in repayment, going on almost XXXX years I have paid off less than XXXX per loan. So years of repayment of XXXX of my salary and I have barely made a dent in any of them. In my current career I have been offered a promotion, in order to get this promotion I have to attend a graduate program. I have had to turn the promotion down because my loans are too high. I also, am unable to secure a mortgage and will be renting until these loans are paid off in XXXX years. I am disheartened by the way that XXXX XXXX treats the people who are trying to further their education. At XXXX point in my loans I relocated for my career and when I told them I would not be able to make payments while this was going on, they told me to ask my cosigner. No deferment was offered. I am the one who has flexibly ruined my finances for life over student loans.

My lender, HESAA ( a state of New Jersey student loan agency ), granted me a forbearance in light of a Covid hardship. However, HESAA failed to properly process that forbearance and as a result, misreported delinquencies to all three credit bureaus for the months of XXXX 2020. HESAA has since acknowledged its error and seemingly corrected the misreporting with XXXX and XXXX, but there has been a complete breakdown in communication with XXXX. HESAA has confirmed multiple times, in writing, that no delinquencies should have ever been reported -- they do not dispute whatsoever that the initial mistake was theirs. However, HESAA keeps saying that they have done everything possible to correct the matter with XXXX, but XXXX must be failing to make appropriate corrections on their end. XXXX, on the other hand, claims that HESAA continues to indicate delinquencies for the months of XXXX, notwithstanding several formal disputes that I have initiated with XXXX. With regard to those disputes, HESAA claims that they were never contacted by XXXX regarding any dispute, while, as noted, XXXX claims HESAA was contacted and indicated the delinquencies should remain on my credit report. I have attempted for more than SIX MONTHS to resolve this. There is seemingly no way to bring HESAA and XXXX into contact with one another in a way that transmits an accurate correction of my credit report from HESAA to XXXX. I have ample documentation confirming everything explained above. My primary contact at HESAA is XXXX XXXX, whose email is XXXX XXXX

I borrowed a loan from NJclass for {$40000.00} to pay tuition at XXXX University in NJ. I have made effort to pay them each month, but can not pay the full $ XXXX monthly. They have told me numerous times that there are no options for repayment. I have been giving them $ XXXX monthly. I have contacted congressmen in NJ who could not get the minimum down. They will not consider my income. My credit is now destroyed. I have other loans which are working with me without issue. It seems that hesaa is one of the few that offer XXXX options. I am now {$700.00} behind. Everyday is a struggle. I work hard and pay for everything else in my life that is required of me ... But because I ca n't pay the {$400.00}, my credit is bad and discounts my hard work. Someone sees my credit and feels I am irresponsible. I know it was my choice to borrow money, but hesaa 's inflexibility is making it impossible to find resolution. Private loans should be allowed inn chapter XXXX. I am now facing defaulting. I read that hesaa charges 30 % of the balance when you default for legal fees ... And they do NOT offer loan rehabilitation ... how is this legal? I should have the freedom of at least XXXX option. I have no rights here. Where are my rights? I have paid them something every month. I do n't know what to do. NJ Class ( hesaa ) masquerades itself as a federal loan to XXXX year olds who do n't know the system. The governor is listed as being involved on their website .... For what purpose? I have a student loan with NJCLASS, this XXXX loan has no issues and is being paid as agreed. On a separate loan, also with NJCLASS, has been placed in default and sent to a collection agency. The collection agency has been unprofessional and difficult to deal with. They have refused several requests by me of a itemized accounting of the monies paid to them by me. The next thing I recieved was a copy of a motion for judgement filed with the court. Shortly afterwards, I recieved a letter of which I was copied on requesting the court to withdraw their motion. When I attempt to communicate with them they treat me awful and threaten me with various types of actions, yet when I request documents they blatantly refuse to provide me with anything. I no longer feel comfortable sending payments that they can not provide an accounting for. I have contacted the NJCLASS and they have n't been able to provide any assistance regarding this issue. During the initial period of which they claimed to have mail bills and contact me regarding a potential default I lived a multiple addresses while trying to find permanent housing. It 's highly probable that if they did send me notifications I did not recieve them because I was without a permanent address for several months. I still am perplexed that while I maintained payments on the other loan, that they would have not been able to communicate that my other loan was in jeopardy, as I called in and those payments were made by phone.

Good Afternoon, My Name is XXXX XXXX and Im writing in regards to my outstanding student loan. My first complaint relates to the COVID payment Deferment. I have had a loan from XXXX and have defaulted in the past. However I have maintained consistent payments over the past 9 years. My question is when this COVID law took place in XXXX of XXXX ( allowing loan holders to defer payment/ interest halt XXXX per the article from consumer reports-why was my tax refund taken in XXXX of XXXX? Every year For over 6 years the XXXX XXXX New Jersey Higher Education, take my entire income tax refund 100 % of it. My taxes were filed in XXXX and this law was in effect. If the government is deferring payments and or interest wouldnt you think this applies to taking tax refunds? Please advise. My second complaint is in regards to my loan in general. I have had a long history with XXXX XXXX and their deceptive policies. I was charged a enormous amount of interest on my loan for many years ... .and I have participated in a lawsuit- which never happened. I have reached out to numerous lawyers/ and student loan consultants but no one will touch my case. Im informed over and over again that because my loans are with the government, I really have no rights. If you can direct me to someone that can hear my case that would be great! I would like to hear your feedback. I can be reached by email or phone : XXXX Sincerely XXXX XXXX

XX/XX/XXXX, I filed a complaint against the NJ Higher Education Assistance Authority with the CFBP for the failure of their collection firm " The Law Office Of XXXX XXXX '' to supply me with any type of receipt of payment. I also believed at the time, that the amount being reported to the credit agencies was incorrect, due to the fact that it differed from the amount being paid to the firm each month. The State looked into it. and wrote out a sufficient response that detailed the current amount owed, as well as receipts of payment which were satisfactory. However today I logged onto my credit report, and see that " The NJ Office of Student Affairs '' when conducting the report, incorrectly initiated a " Hard Pull '' in order to get the information, which dropped my credit score XXXX points, rather than the required " Soft Pull '' as they did not advise me or ask for my permission to run the " Hard Pull '', which I would not have given them permission to do. The " Hard Pull '' was conducted on XX/XX/XXXX. With the Credit Reporting Bureau " XXXX '' and according to the report will not be removed from my record until XX/XX/XXXX. This " Hard Pull '' was conducted illegally, and thoughtlessly in regards to the impact it would have on my credit score. I demand that the pull be removed immediately from my record by the " The NJ Office of Student Affairs '' and that an apology be written for causing my score to drop.

When I ( and my Mother, cosigner ) applied and received a NJCLASS loan in XX/XX/XXXX-XX/XX/XXXX, HESAA 's website advertised " flexible repayment options. '' That led us to believe that NJCLASS was similar to federal loans that offered flexible repayment options. However, it was n't until the loans went into repayment in XX/XX/XXXX that we learned HESAA 's advertised " flexible repayment options '' referred only to the 3 repayment options HESAA offered when you first took out your loan -- Option 1, Option 2 or Option 3. I am drowning because they are terrible at customer service, availability of customer service ( the website is archaic and NOT helpful for submitting forms etc. ) Most of the time, sensitive information is having to be communicated via email " gmail ''!!! When I first applied to NJCLASS, I was denied and was advised I needed a cosigner. We called HESAA to advise we had no one willing to obligate themselves to this debt. The agent stated over the phone that if we chose Option 3 ( deferred principal and interest until graduation ) -the cosigner would not be liable for any payments because no payments would be due until my I graduated. And, when I graduated, HESAA would consolidate all of my NJCLASS in my name only, and the cosigner would be removed. We operated in that manner and when it came time to consolidate, HESAA denied my consolidation loan and advised he needed a cosigner.

I was indicated as being late on paying my load during the XXXX XXXX. I was late for one day. I have done, althought out of work, all I can to keep payments going on this loan, yet XXXX said they would need to evaluate and let me know. I continued to follow up. Recently they are telling me I'm late on dates that I am NOT late and they are saying that they already told the credit companies that they want the late reports removed from my record. None of the reports have been moved. XXXX often tells me this and I have to fight for it on a regular basis because even though I pay a month in advance, they are not good at their own accounting and their reps are very negative and speak rudely when addressing issues. I am asking that the dates that are on the attached letter from XXXX be removed from my record as they indicated they requested back in XXXX. They also never told me that they requested this be removed. It is still showing on my XXXX XXXX and my XXXX. My XXXX by the way seems to be behind as well. These companies are affecting people 's lives. What are you doing to make this right and to make sure they are more up to date and proactive in updating our records? I'm not sure I understand how they are allowed to drive people 's lives into the ground. I've overcome it, but kids with Student loans are dying on the vine!!! It's so mean and cruel. We need to do better.

I had defaulted on one student loan with the Higher Education Student Assistance Authority in XXXX but have consistently made a loan payment to them for over 8 months. However, on XX/XX/XXXX, I filed chapter XXXX in the state of NJ, docket # XXXX and I am currently under protection of the automatic stay but I continued to make a payment of {$120.00} in the month of XXXX but did not for XX/XX/XXXX because I had no obligation to as a result of the chapter XXXX filing. I called HESAA several times and gave them the docket filing number, I also faxed them proof of filing twice and I also emailed them. They consistently deny being notified by myself and the bankruptcy court of the filing though the phone conversations where I state this fact are recorded with each call. On XX/XX/XXXX, I received a letter from HESAA from XXXX XXXX that they have cancelled my repayment arrangement which has been in place up until I filed chapter XXXX, I made a promised payment every month and they are choosing to violate the automatic stay and cancel my repayment arrangement which was in place prior to filing chapter XXXX. They are in violation of the automatic bankruptcy stay in pursuing collection activity against me and cancelling my repayment arrangement prior to the chapter XXXX discharge though I also told them I would be resuming payments after the discharge occurs.

I requested help in XX/XX/XXXX and explained that I have a XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX, and that my husband who was the sole breadwinner since I couldn't work -- was gone due to a tragic accident. I've called and emailed several times since then. I thought everything was set, according to the man I spoke to over the phone, that I would continue to pay interest only -- {$120.00} every three months. I was really hoping to postpone or discharge my loan, but I was told that was not possible. Then I received a letter saying I was delinquent end of XX/XX/XXXX, and it made no mention of my interest only agreement. The payment I made that was supposed to be for interest only, was used as a normal payment. They sent me an email saying they are planning to garnish my wages. I am dependent on my savings for survival ( medicine, food, minimum payments of bills, utilities, gas, insurance, etc ) since I can not work and have no wages. Can they go into my bank account and take my savings? I have been working on this since XX/XX/XXXX and they are saying I'm behind about {$500.00} dollars currently. I also have a cosigner and I am afraid HESAA will garnish his wages and ruin both of our credit. So far HESAA has not honored our phone agreement and continue to claim I did not " properly '' submit their forms -- which I have submitted multiple times since XX/XX/XXXX.

As I see the most recent news into the lawsuit against XXXX, I have to reach out in regards to another XXXX loan agency -- NJ Class. These loans are administered by a state agency, the New Jersey Higher Education Student Assistance Authority ( NJHESAA ). The constant disorganization of the company and the horror stories I hear from other people -- I feel like this is a prime example of a loan agency unwilling to help students pay back loans affordably. These loans come with high interest rates with no end in sight on when or how to pay back. The site has not been updated in 10 years, making it extremely hard to track progress and understand loan payback. They do n't offer good refinancing options -- only a 25 year option. Their customer service agents are rude and condescending. I 've had several incidents where I called and one agent told me one thing & the other told me another -- which in the end costed me hundreds of dollars in interest that went into their pocket. There are a few inconsistencies with bill dates & how much interest you accrue. Overall, they are not an honest & reputable agency -- like XXXX, they should be looked into. I have been lucky enough to pay off most of my loans to date but I know the struggle and strain it has put on myself, my parents, my brother, and friends.

I have two major concerns about XXXX XXXX XXXX. When I attended XXXX University, the financial aid office and XXXX XXXX misrepresented that XXXX XXXX is a government loan, similar to your typical federal loan. After I graduated and during the repayment period, I learned that XXXX XXXX XXXX is a private loan and lacked the similar protection or assistance federal loan provides. Thousands of students take loans out from this institution, and based on my personal experience along with other fellow XXXX classmates, we believe we were mislead by the institution. Secondly, XXXX XXXX XXXX or HESSA wants all the borrowers to sign or agree to a privacy terms and conditions, which is prima facie unconcionable. The terms basically states that the borrowers must agree to these terms or else the borrower can not make the payments needed to XXXX XXXX. The terms dictates that the borrower basically has no rights to any remedies and warranties, and borrower agrees that XXXX XXXX and HESSA will not be liable for anything, whether direct, indirect, consequential, etc. This is unacceptable and abusive of power and authority. I get this gut feeling that these terms and conditions and how XXXX XXXX is forcing current borrowers to agree to this is illegal.

On XX/XX/2019, New Jersey Higher Education Student Assistance Authority posted inaccurate information to my credit reports [ XXXX and XXXX ]. For the record, i owe no student loans, all loans was paid in full to the original creditor. On XX/XX/2019, I requested [ by phone ] to a New Jersey Higher Education Student Assistance Authority agent Cease and desist all misrepresentation and inaccurate reporting to third parties. To date New Jersey Higher Education Student Assistance Authority continues to violate fair credit reporting act, and infringe on my private intellectual copyright/ copy-claim property. Further more i have never receive any notices from anyone stating a debt is owed, i have no contract with New Jersey Higher Education Student Assistance. I never apply for any student loans with New Jersey Higher Education Assistance Authority, I never attend any school in New Jersey nor was i ever a resident of New Jersey State which are the requirements to receive student loan assistance. I never consent to doing with New Jersey Higher Education Student Assistance Authority. New Jersey Higher Education Student Assistance Authority and it's agents are violating my consumer rights, and are practicing bad business.

This company appears to be incredibly corrupt. When I was in high school, my parents unknowingly used this company for the majority of my loans, probably believing they were connected to the state itself ( as indicated by the company 's title ). When I graduated and did not have a job within my career, they did not allow any income based repayment or deferment, so I was forced to pay $ XXXX monthly from about a month after I graduated ( this does n't include federal loans I also owed ). I graduated almost 7 years ago, and my payment has only moved down to {$490.00} after consistent monthly payments since then. Roughly, I have already paid them over {$40000.00} with no late payments, and my balance is still somehow greater than {$40000.00}. I feel completely entrenched by this company, and there is no end in sight because they are a private loan provider. Their website is horrific, their customer service nonexistent, and I ca n't find any information about the company 's " acting director '' except that he provided incentives for students to write 5 star reviews on XXXX XXXX. I just believe something needs to be done about these business practices, and the source of their income needs to be investigated.

I had a student loan with XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX services back in XX/XX/XXXX-XX/XX/XXXX year. The company started to garnish my wages because my loan became delinquent and we came to an agreement that if I made six on time payments that they would stop the garnishment and I would rehabilitate my loan to current status. I decided to go that route and made the necessary payments to bring my account current. I then decided to consolidate all my student loans with XXXX XXXX because I did n't want this problem happening again. Once XXXX XXXX had told me they had disbursed the money to XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX I called to see if they had received it and they told me that they did receive it and that the account would report as paid on my credit report like all my other student loans. Unfortunately they made an error on my credit report that I just recently noticed that has cost me from refinancing my car. On my XXXX credit report they have my account showing as a charge off instead of paid which my other two credit reports show. As stated before I was denied refinancing of my car because my credit union used XXXX as the credit reporting agency that they used for that feature. l-

I having been going back and forth with HESAA - NJCLASS students loan since XX/XX/XXXX. I graduated in XX/XX/XXXX and as soon as they received notice of my graduation they began sending me bills I believe in XX/XX/XXXX. I did not get a recent grad deferment or any assistance from them. So, I called to see what my options were and I let them I was not working at the time. Well they basically told me there was nothing I could do so my loan when into default because I could not make any payments. I have a daughter I am raising alone and I just recently started working so, I can not afford any wage garnishments. So, I called them today XX/XX/XXXX, and told them I wanted to make a payment Friday but i wanted to know what would get my loan out of default. I was told to either pay {$700.00} front or just get my wages garnished because they can not do anything for me. They were not trying to help me at all and they were so rude and unprofessional. Any student looking for a loan please do not chose this one because they are rude and unhelpful even to those who are willing to pay for their loan.

New Jersey Higher Education Assistance Authority ( NJHESAA ) ran programs ( from XXXX and potentially much longer ) in which their representatives went to New Jersey high schools to " educate '' parents, teachers and students about how to pay for college education however the representatives unduly promoted NJHESAA loans, gave false or misleading information regarding federal loan options, and presented misleading information about the " benefits '' of NJHESAA loans. The NJHESAA representatives used their position as employees of a state agency to the deceive parents, students, and teacher into believing that the information presented was given without agenda or bias and was factually correct. In many cases parents, students and teachers were made to believe that NJHESAA loans had the same terms and conditions as federal loans when it fact the terms was drastically different. NJHESAA loans were presented as though they were the only viable option to pay for a college education and that federal loans would not be suitable to cover the cost of college education.

On XX/XX/XXXX I tried to make a payment of {$1000.00} on my NJClass ( HESAA ) loan. At the time I did not realize that I had two bank account profiles one being my joint and the other which I always use. The payment went to the joint instead of the correct account and I noticed this because the payment was still in my account so once I recognized this I logged on to NJClass and deleted the incorrect bank profile and resubmitted to the correct account. I noticed the money was still in my account so I logged on again and saw that my payment privileges have been revoked. So I called to try to pay and was told I cant make a payment over the phone and would have to appeal to have my payment options reinstated. I emailed them and havent gotten a response back. Meanwhile my loans are collecting interest with NO possible way for me to make a payment. Ive been paying on these loans since XXXX. I have paid off several loans 3 of them were paid off this year and two totaling XXXX were paid off in XXXX. They are collecting interest and not allowing me to pay my loans.

I have a personal college loan through HESAA in NJ. I usually make my monthly payments via credit card. On XX/XX/18 I tried connecting my checking account to the portal to pay via my checking account because I was being charged a fee every time I used my credit card. I follow the video they direct me to, I link my checking account, and I submit the payment for that month via my checking account. A few weeks to a month later I get a notice in the mail that my loan payment is late and that I am delinquent. I log on to the HESSA.org to find that my checking account payment had been bounced back. I immediately file a claim with HESSA and petition to have the delinquency removed since I was unaware my payment bounced back. This was also my first late payment so they removed the delinquency and made my account current. But my credit score has not improved since they made my account current. It was above 700 before all this, but now it is around 650. How can I inform the credit agency to have my score go back to what it was prior to this incident?

I have been trying to contact HESAA regarding my student loans for the past three weeks-their phone lines are down and no one has replied to my emails sent to their Client Services email address. I emailed them three times, as well have been receiving assistance from the New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance, who also has been calling and emailing them and not getting a response. My account currently states that HESAA has not received my last scheduled payment and my account is delinquent. My last payment due date was XX/XX/2020, and I made a payment on XX/XX/2020 of the full amount. The payment history is reflected on the HESSA website, and I have the confirmation and credit card statements with the payments as well. I was hoping to get clarification about the delinquency of my account. As I have not received a response from HESAA since I began contacting them mid-XXXX, the payment I made for the month of XXXX was my normal payment, not the double amount which my account currently states I owe.

I have attempted several times to contact HESAA LOANS for a refinancing option. My father is the co-signer on my loan and he has not made any of the payments on the account, I solely have and it has been up to date without any issues up until now. I am trying to refinance and not have a co-signer and completely take him off as he has nothing to do with it but no one will give me information on how to release a co-signer and even with my average credit score and decent job ( keeping up to date with XXXX dollar payments regularly on my own ) they will not release him or allow me to refinance. This is completely ridiculous as I am a new college student in all kinds of debt and have medical bills but if Im keeping up to date for so long with the loan why cant I have the option to release him?! This is causing undue stress as it is my loan and I need help from someone at HESAA to give me options even with my lower credit score because my payment history on such a high monthly payment has never faltered!!

Hello, I have always been in good standing with my HESAA/XXXX loans, and I currently have two loans with them. I had made a payment on XX/XX/18 for both loans, and HESAA/XXXX applied the payment to ONE loan instead of both. So, without ANY warning, phone call, letter, email, or anything notification at all, my other loan was " delinquent '' by only {$140.00}. I quickly submitted payment when this came to light. However, and the bigger problem here is, that the negative on my credit report ALSO showed up on my sister 's credit report. My sister is NOT a cosigner. My mother is my cosigner. My sister should not have any involvement with my student loan or financial obligation. The funds were distributed to MY account at XXXX University, not hers. When on the HESAA/XXXX online portal, there is no mention of her name anywhere to be found to indicate her involvement with my student loan. As mentioned, my mother is my cosigner and aware of the responsibilities that come from being a cosigner.

I took out a student loan through the XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX in the summer of XX/XX/XXXXto attend XXXX University. My mother, father, and grandmother are co-signers. At this time I was led to believe that HESAA was a federal loantheir literature said that they were federal and there are photos of Governor XXXX XXXX and the New Jersey state seal on their website. I took out another loan, again with my mother, father, and grandmother as co-signers, through HESAA in XX/XX/XXXXto attend graduate school at XXXX University, again believing that it was a federal loan. I began to make payments on the loans in the fall of XX/XX/XXXX, after I discontinued my graduate education. At this time, I realized that they were not federal at all, given that there were no options for income-based repayment. Ever since, I 've been dealing with their exorbitantly high repayment options and inhumane methods of communication ( constant phone harassment and very rude customer service reps ).

I previously contacted CFPB, regarding New Jersey class not notifying the credit bureaus that my Student LoanS have been paid. I have one final loan that needs to be paid to the debt collector they chosen to represent them. XXXX XXXX is the attorney used to collect the debt for New Jersey class. The attorneys XXXX XXXX does not report my payments to the credit bureau. New Jersey class has sent a notice saying that my final loan payment was late. If XXXX does not report to the credit bureaus how can New Jersey class say that my payment was late? My last loan payments are made monthly every month. I believe New Jersey class is retaliating against my filing a complaint against them. Theyre reporting my last loan payment as delinquent. If the account is in collections, and I making the payments every month, to XXXX XXXX, how can New Jersey class say the payment is late when they dont report to the credit bureau. This is a clear case of retaliation.

My mother took out a loan for my college education with the Highe Education Student Assistant Authotrity in 2009. They made it seem that they were offering a federal loan. They sell themselves as being entirely affiliated with the state of New Jersey ; the state emblem and a picture of XXXX XXXX are on the front page of the website. They are, in fact, entirely private and I 'm filing this complaint because they 're misleading. I 'm also filing this complaint because they do n't offer income-based repayment or consolidation. They 're demanding more than {$1000.00} per month from me, a ludicrous amount for a new graduate, and there does n't seem to be any chance of paying anything less than that, ever. Negotation is out of the question. Their truly despicable customer service is part of this complaint but is the most insignificant. They present themselves as being federal but are neither federal nor private, they 're something else entirely.

I am currently a XXXX year old XXXX student at XXXX University. I have my XXXX, and have been working in my field, while trying to obtain a full-time position. I work full-time hours, but only bring in about {$1400.00} a month. Unfortunately, I took out private loans with NJClass at the very young, uneducated ( in terms of loans ), and naive age of XXXX, without realizing the situation I would eventually be in. NJClass is asking me to pay {$1600.00} a month, which is impossible for me. I have called XXXX of times to try and work out some sort of payment plan, but they refuse to work with me. My parents are cosigners, but my dad was laid off last year, and they are already struggling to make ends meet without my loans being a factor. I am not asking for my loans to be forgiven. I am not asking to pay very little. All I 'm asking is for NJClass to lower my monthly repayment to a price that is livable for me until I get a full-time job.

I am consistently encountering website errors, extremely slow page load times, and unsecure connection warnings from different browsers when attempting to make online payments towards my XXXX loan. Slow page loading prevents me from being able to manage my loan online or access the online payment center, even after returning to a loading page over an hour later. My internet connection is working and all my browsers ( XXXX ) open up other student loan websites, like XXXX XXXX XXXX, just fine. I do not want my payments being made over the phone or via mail so a working website is absolutely critical. I would like to attach a few screenshots of tonight 's payment attempt. Hopefully, you can get this New Jersey company to work on their poorly run website because customer service seems to be unreachable via phone. How does one expect to receive timely payments and high customer satisfaction from borrowers with these sort of problems?

I have sent numerous emails and placed many calls to HESSA-NJ class loans about negotiating a feasible payment plan. The loans were taken out for my attendance at XXXX University in XXXX, PA. They wanted XXXX payment per month, but i 'm not able to afford that amount. So i started paying them XXXX per month making an effort to pay what i can afford. Now they are wage garnishing me at XXXX percent each paycheck. With my current income they are collecting XXXX per month. If nj class would simply negotiate this price with me and create a reasonable payment plan, I would pay this amount with no problem. I would even pay XXXX dollars a month, but they wo n't agree to it. Now i am in delinquency and they are taking XXXX dollars per month, which i would pay without a wage garnishment claim. This can be settled in a honest and fair way, without destroying my credit.

My student loan payments are {$1000.00} a month. Everyone else I graduated with does not have a payment this high. I think I filled out my fasfa wrong or something. I do n't understand why my payments are so high and why I did n't get any grants from XXXX. I also believed that it would be 6-7 % interest on the whole loan not compound daily. I make {$1700.00} after taxes. I pay another {$75.00} in sub and unsub loans a month. I literally make enough money to pay my car payment, car insurance and gas to get to work. I had to get a second job just so I can eat. I literally debate whether it is worth living everyday. Can you please see if there is something you can do? Also, I remember shortly after I graduated XXXX President had to step down or something because there was a money scandal.

Hi, have been struggling to repay my NJCLASS loan. I have approximately 96000 to repay and my monthly payment went up to XXXX a month after they gave me the option to do there reage program. I have been in and out of work for the past three years and my student loan almost reached default status until they offered be to do the real program which only raised my student to the XXXX dollars I pay now. I am married with XXXX small children in day care just to work in a field I did not go to school for. And because NJCLASS does not offer income based payment or lower payments. It makes it very difficult for my family to manage our finances. I would like to see this loan forgiven due to me not having work in the field I went to school for, or would like them to offer incomes based payments

I just called ( XX/XX/19 ) HESAA to inform that I am unable to pay the $ XXXX/month on my loan of {$19000.00} due to me paying other student loans, mortgage payments and other bills. The representative stated she can not change the payment arrangement. Once a payment arrangement is calculated and sent to the consumer no changes can be made. I then asked to speak to a manager and she stated no one was available for me to speak with. This is unacceptable. My loan should be at least reviewed for a lower payment arrangement or a calculation of my income with bills should at least be considered. The way this was handled was unprofessional. I want to pay but can not. if needed I will send {$50.00} just to have something on record each month that I am trying to pay.

I was offered a grant from HESAA and was asked to accept or decline the offer, after I accepted it and started school at XXXX. I was surprised today by an email telling me that NJ state higher education has cancelled my financial aid. Now I'm stuck with the school is charging me XXXX % of the tuition fee even if I drop the classes as I have to take a loan or pay out of pocket. I feel like that I was trapped by HESAA to take the loan. I'm sure that this inconvenience was not from my part and I think somebody made a mistake on HESAA by offering me the aid and cancelling it few months later after I accepted it and I would be happy if I can get help from you to fix this issue by reviewing my FA application again.

HESAA loan there are really no repayment options except defaulting everything else no one really qualifies for if you can even get any info on it this loan was represented to me as a government loan not a private lender to make matters as bad as can be the website is almost impossible to even enter- i have to try at least a dozen times before i can even get to the login page. making a timely payment becomes impossible unless you have a few hours to devote to trying. there is no way to get billing notifications either through email or snail mail until you are late, then you get tons of them. is it really so much to ask for automated electronic billing? at the percentage they are collecting?

I have been paying HESAA XXXX XXXX monthly since XX/XX/2021 on a loan that I co-signed for my son. They repeatedly credit the payment to loans that I am not listed on. I've been overcharged without my permission and reported as delinquent on my credit report. I have emailed on 2 occasions in the past month with no response, called several times, and the best that they could tell me on the telephone is that a person posts the payments incorrectly. They suggested that I email HESAA and I've not received any relief to date. The agents that I have spoken to have disclosed information to me regarding other loans that I am not listed on, which I believe to also be a significant issue.

I have contacted XXXX multiple times to see how I can repay back my loans because the payment was too high for me to afford with a low paying job. I offered to pay the interest for a few months until I can figure out how to repay them. I also paid {$500.00}, {$600.00} a month every month for quite some time. They refused to work with me. They refused to take into account the few hundred dollars I was sending them every month. And then I went into deferment, got a lawyer and now currently in the process of declaring bankruptcy, to buy me time to figure out how to pay these loans back. Today I received papers stating I am being sued by XXXX. I really dont know where to go from here.

This is the second time I 'm contacting your organization with regards to my private student loans through HESAA ( New Jersey loan agency ). I 'm concerned about my amortization schedule. To my approximation, I 've made about {$76000.00} in payments over the last 4.5 years towards my principal balance ( based on monthly payment schedule ), yet the balance has only decreased by about {$6000.00} in the same time period. I 'm concerned they are not applying the proper amount to the principal balance and applying it primarily to the interest. With this lopsided allocation of interest over principal, I am not sure how the loan will be paid according to the terms of the agreement.

XXXX sold it to HESAA and HESAA never sent a payment voucher and put me in default. I began payments right away and was told by the HESAA agent that 4 consecutive payments would remove the default status. I called yesterday to check the status as I am close to the 4 payments, and after their phone system disconnected 6 times I got an agent. She said the loan will never go out of default even though my payments are current. I was told a lie. And this makes no sense to me a stops me from applying for grant money.

After 6+ years of being in good standing and consistently making payments on my student loans with HESAA ( NJClass ), I noticed a 0.75 % interest rate increase on all my loans. Upon researching the terms and conditions, this was applied because my account was in " default ''. From my records, I have only missed one payment and remitted payment within a few days. According to additional research, " defaulting '' occurs if payment has not been made in 270 days. I am appalled that I received no communication of the rate change and that one was placed on my account.
