This complaint concerns the actions of Greenback Recovery Group in an attempt to collect a debt. On XXXX/XXXX/16 I received a voice mail message from XXXX XXXX at GR Group. She identified herself as a " Senior Arbitrator '' in the legal division, and stated that she had received documents identifying me as the " primary Respondent ''. She proceeded to state that I had written " bad checks from a XXXX Bank checking account attached to a social security number ending in xxxx ''. She then threatened to " pursue charges under the Federal Bank Fraud Statute for XXXX XXXX, Arizona ''. On XXXX/XXXX/2016, I received another voicemail message from Greenback Recovery Group. This time, XXXX XXXX claimed that " this matter has been approved for suit for A XXXX XXXX filing to bring you up on XXXX separate charges for Theft by Deception, Breach of Contract, and Writing Bad Checks out of your XXXX XXXX Bank account ending attached to your social security number ending in XXXX, and I do have the full social ''. She stated she represented an unnamed attorney network. At no time during either of the messages on XXXX/XXXX/16 and XXXX/XXXX/16 did she identify herself as a debt collector. Additionally, I had not received any kind of written correspondence from the GR Group. I contacted my attorney, XXXX XXXX. They then provided me with a demand letter that failed to identify the current creditor. I have attached a copy of this letter, and I have XXXX voice mail messages saved. Not only have I been the victim of illegal collection practices under the FDCPA, but I believe GR Group has violated the Arizona XXXX. XXXX XXXX XXXX ( XXXX ), a person commits theft by extortion by knowingly obtaining or seeking to obtain property or services by means of a threat to accuse anyone of a crime or bring criminal charges against anyone. The use of the threat language to " bring charges '' for theft by deception, writing bad checks and violations of the Federal Bank Fraud Statute is a clear attempt to get me to pay on a claim for breach of contract, by putting me in fear of criminal prosecution. I have been very distraught over these threats. I believe my attorney is in contact with the XXXX office regarding GR Group 's violation of XXXX XXXX. The communications with Greenback Recovery group have been very threatening, and much of the language used, such as " Senior Arbitrator for the legal division '' and " approved for Suit '' seem intended to convey that the collection agency is a Law Firm.

On XX/XX/XXXX I gave Greenback Recovery Group permission to withdraw {$50.00} from my bank account. I gave them my debit card number so they would be able to. This was a one time only withdrawal. On XX/XX/XXXX or XX/XX/XXXX they withdrew anther {$50.00}. I did not give them permission to do so. I have attempted to reach them to notify them they are not allowed to withdraw any funds from my bank account. To make sure they do not withdraw more funds I feel I have to get a new debit card.
The agreement I had made with them was for me to make a payment once per month. Now I am not even sure they are a collection agency that has been hired to collect a debt.
Please help me resolve this.

Received several call in the past month from XXXX XXXX of Greenback Recovery XXXX stating I owe {$1500.00} and how I want to pay for it I told him I have never received anything from any Credit Card company asked him to mail it to me. Its been 3 week and I have n't received anything but tons of messages telling me they are coming to my home and that I need to show passport and drivers license or they will go to my job.

I asked Greenback Recovery Group to stop calling my job, but they refuse to do so. Today, XXXX XXXX, 2015, I am sending a letter to the company with the request again. I know that I have a debt to be paid, but I asked them to stop calling my job.

Company keeps calling me asking for a particular person. I do not know this person. I have asked several times for them to stop calling me and they still call. I do not owe the debt and I do not know the person they are trying to reach.
