Friedman Law Associates contacted me and said they could help me get a loan modification to avoid foreclosure on my house. We scheduled XXXX payments to be drafted from my bank account for {$970.00} which they presented as money that went to my mortgage but I later found out it was retainer fees. After speaking with the mortgage company they told me I did not need an attorney and they would help me with my mortgage. I then changed my mind about using the attorney for a loan modification after they had already drafted XXXX payment of {$970.00}. I asked them to please return the money since I chose not to use their services and they will not return the money. Losing {$970.00} is devastating to me as I need that money to put towards my mortgage. I would like the {$970.00} returned to me as I do not think it is fair for them to keep all of that money when I am not using them for a modification.

Paid for mortgage modification help upfront with guarantee they would be able to negotiate a modification, and this turns out to be false and listed as a scam on Florida housing website, a company is not supposed to take money upfront to help you modify your loan mortgage, they have companies that can do this for free on your behalf, and then when I requested my money back, they stop responding to me.
