I am being charged a fee on a line of credit I was not made aware of. Additionally, I am concerned that other fees will be fabricated and applied to my account. The line of credit is through Green Bear of California ( dba Crestline Finance ). The line of credit was processed by a payday lender XXXX XXXX ( store address XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX CA XXXX ) I went to the lender for a payday loan and was offered a line of credit. I had to pay a fee between {$35.00} and {$40.00} to print the check which was for {$300.00}. Additionally I was charged {$33.00} interest. I was told when payment was due and how much. I received no paperwork and was not told at any point about a set up/maintenance fee. I was not told that I had to call to close account. Aside from the line of Credit tag, the transaction was presented as a payday loan. I paid the the principle and interest on the due date. The associate I spoke with never mentioned that any other payment was due. I am afraid I will not be able to close this account and that I will be hit with more made up charges. This business, and the network of payday lenders they use, are manipulating women and men taking out payday loans and exploiting the fact that the individuals taking out the loans think they are the same as a payday loan. My borrowing {$300.00}, when desperate, cost me {$370.00} plus the surprise maintenance fee and however much it will cost to close the account. Additionally, the associates at the payday lender I went to, XXXX XXXX, are very clever in how they present the info to you. The document you sign is on a small screen device and looked like any other payday loan document. You are told that info will be emailed to you. The email you receive is a link to a website that requires an ID number that you are not given ... unless you know to ask the associate at the counter. You the borrower wont find out about the fees, and that this is an ongoing account, until you get a call, like I did, a week after paying off your loan. The associate calling you will politely remind you about your upcoming payment. You will likely wonder what the associate is talking about. A half hours later you will be mad and looking up Crestline Financial online and you will find a lot of people who were suckered too. Then you go to the CFPB. I will likely pay these conmen, but hope no one else gets mislead like I was.

On XX/XX/2019 I went into XXXX in XXXX, Ohio to obtain a short term payday loan. I borrowed {$400.00} on that day and paid the loan in full in the amount of {$440.00} on XXXX XXXX. At no point during that transaction was I informed that Ohio no longer did payday loans and that it was now a line of credit loan. I also have no recollection of being handed any information regarding an annual fee to keep a " line of credit open. '' On XX/XX/2019 I received a phone call from XXXX about an outstanding balance. Upon returning their call I was informed of the annual fee. I was also told I should have received an email regarding that information. After thoroughly searching my email, I have no such email. They directed me to their lender, Crestline Finance. On XX/XX/2019 I called Crestline Finance and spoke to a customer service representative who directed me to her manager, XXXX ( sp ). I was told that if I did not pay the annual fee of {$150.00} in addition to the the {$10.00} credit reporting fee, my account would continue to accrue interest and go to collections. It was explained to me that the interest would not be based on the fee but rather the entire line of credit amount, even though there is no outstanding balance. The explanation was very confusing and repetitive but from my understanding their lines of credit extend to approximately {$1000.00}. I was approved for {$400.00}. The word collateral was used to explain why I would then be charged interest on not only the approval amount but also the remaining {$600.00}. The process was never explained clearly why I would be accruing interest on a loan with a {$0.00} balance, having no interest in " keeping it open. '' I was also told that I am not able to close the account, thus it will keep accruing interest, until I pay the annual fee, which I was not transparently informed of. I apologize for the confusing explanation but there wasn't much clarity to from the conversation. I am familiar with lines of credit and in my experience, if you don't use it, you don't pay for it. I realize that {$160.00} seems like it isn't worth this trouble. However, the deceptive practices and confusing/unethical product are worth taking the time to report. Thank you for any help you can provide.

On XX/XX/2020, I went to the XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX, CA XXXX for a payday loan. There was an advertisement for a loan from Crestline Finance, advertising a 19 % loan. I was able to qualify for {$600.00} to be paid in one month. I was informed of an annual {$30.00} charge. I signed the loan agreement. On XX/XX/XXXX, XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX, I paid approximately {$670.00} and in return received {$570.00}. I questioned the fees but was never given a clear explanation. I called Crestline on XX/XX/2020 and informed them of my intent to pay off the loan on or about XX/XX/XXXX. I wanted to avoid any automatic deduction and was told the only way I could stop the ACH which I had never used was to write them a letter. They would not provide a fax or email notice. So I sent a Priority letter on XX/XX/2020 indicating that I no longer agreed to an automatic deduction. I then went to both the physical store and called Crestline to discuss what I believe to be undisclosed fees. I finally discovered that I was paying a 10 % fee each month for use of a third-party processor? There is no mention of this fee in the contract, nor could anyone explain why it was necessary since I paid in cash at the store on each due date. I called Crestline and attempted to resolve the matter but I was put on hold and then the telephone call was disconnected. I have attached the loan agreement, along with the transaction history from their website which does not include the {$60.00} charge. However, I also submitted a copy of a the referenced receipt and it shows a payment of the {$60.00}.

I had tried to create a {$400.00} loan online with Crestline Finance, but they wanted to charge me approximately {$38.00} to deposit the money into my account. Instead, I opted for a check pickup at XXXX XXXX XXXX in XXXX. The XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX store wanted to charge me approximately {$29.00} to cash the check. instead, I opted to deposit the check into my account. I had until the XXXX of XXXX to repay the loan. I was able to deposit the necessary funds into my account and have the bank send a check to Crestline finance to pay back the principal, interest, and the remaining account fee with an overpayment of {$3.00} Having paid off the loan, and still needing some more short term relief, I had tried to reloan another {$400.00}. instead of being able to reloan, I encounter some restriction stating " Awaiting Closeout Letter '' barring me from being able to reloan for a week. with the ruse that they had to wait for the check to clear. I believe that the real reason is because they had not made any of the usury fees to deposit/withdraw the cash, and they are punishing me for being to smartly maneuver the system in a cost effective manner. They offer a loan with a low interest rate, but they only way to receive and repay the funds is through these high costing methods. I see this as a thinly veiled attempt to be able to claim that they are not charging usury interest rates, by instead charging usury processing fees

I borrowed {$600.00} initially from XXXX XXXX. I paid the loan off on XX/XX/19. I owed {$400.00} at the time and paid {$470.00} and change to pay it off. It had a XXXX balance as of that day. Now they are charging additional interest and say I owe fees for keeping the line open. I told them it was closed when I paid and didn't reborrow. There isn't a principal balance to accrue interest or fees on beyond the payoff day. They want me to give them an additional {$140.00}. They said you can pay off anytime, but are trying to collect interest and fees on a XXXX balance. They were taking fees every other week for keeping the line open. When I paid it off there is no basis for fees or interest after the fact.
