I was mailed a notice fro m Finex Group, LLC Collection Services. The notices were mailed on XXXX / XXXX / XXXX and XXXX / XXXX / XXXX . These notices prompted me to reach out to this collection agency. In a attempt to explain this debt did not belong to me. I explained that they should pursue the party who is responsible for the unpaid tow fees from XXXX XXXX XXXX .I assured them that I sold this vehicle, and completed a release of liability form to the DMV. I explained that I had several incidents pertaining to fees owed related to this vehicle, that I 've since reconciled due to the documented proof of my release of liability. Both XXXX and XXXX XXXX have accepted my release of liability document as sufficient proof. I 've been discharged from any responsibility to pay in both matters pertaining to the same vehicle, and same registration issue. These companies have made efforts to pursue the party who is at fault. However with all the matters discussed and issues presented at the table Finex Group LLC has done things contrary to the other businesses. This has made my life very difficult. I 've explained these situation time and time again to XXXX , and other representatives of this agency, and they 've discouraged my efforts to dispute the matter, and only encouraged me to pay a debt that is n't mine. They 've assured me for technical reasons, and administrative errors this debt is final. There is no way to reconcile the matter, because the date the record was pulled I was the last registered owner. My account has been reported to the credit bureaus and this debt is affecting my credit, which is an injustice because I have n't been in possession of this car in over two years. I do n't have a key. I do n't have the pink slip. I had no clue of the where abouts, of this vehicle, while it was going across the bridge, having collisions, or being picked up for tow. I 've done everything in my power to relieve myself of the vehicle ; including making numerous trips to t he dmv ( inclu ding my initial trip to dmv to complete a release of liability prior to the tow date, and every other incident occurrence ), I 've made countless phone calls, I 've made several emails to several agency 's ; to deal with this car I no longer have. I 'm sitting here now making a complaint. I recently made a dispute with the credit bureau. This is has become a hassle and a detriment to my life. It 's especially aggravating when this agency is refusing to allow me to separate myself from the matter. I 've faxed over the release of liability on several occasions, since they claim they did n't receive the first fax. I 've been hung up on numerous of times, because the staff were unwilling to hear any information that did n't involve me paying or being responsible. They 've only encouraged me to go sue, go to the dmv and request documents they already have. They 've only wasted my time, energy, gas, and focus on making trivial efforts that wo n't help resolve my account with them. They are set on the expectation of me to pay, even when faced with opposing evidence. They 've done very little to address my individual circumstances, outside of there day to day of arguing with customers about debt. They 've even threatened to sue me, for not seeing it their way. They have no consideration, of my life. It is punishment enough to constantly relive a matter you made efforts to resolve. I should n't have to pay for something I 'm not responsible for, even if there was some misunderstanding or discrepancy. This has an affect my financial situation, which trickles into every other area of my life. I 've completed several release of liabilities, since I 've been on notice of the debt. DMV has explained that I need to send them proof, which I have. The same release of liability faxed t o FINEX, was faxed to DMV, the XXXX CA office. The same office Finex receives there information and reports from

Hi, I sold a car in XXXX & no longer had possession of the car in the year of XXXX ( worth of car is ~ {$500.00} ). In the year of XXXX I am receiving calls & mail from FINEX GROUP LLC collection agent XXXX XXXX for a debt of over {$4000.00} on the car for being towed & put into storage in the year of XXXX ( 2 years after I sold the car to the new owner. ) The new owner had possession of the car since the sale date in the year of XXXX. When I found out that the new owner did not complete paperwork, I went to the DMV to get things sorted out, and the DMV informed me that liability for that car starts for the new owner on the day that it was sold in the year of XXXX. I contacted the police department on the phone & was informed that I did not have to worry about it since the car was already sold in XXXX & I no longer had the car in XXXX. I contacted the tow place & explained to them that I no longer had ownership nor possession of the car when it was towed in XXXX, which is 2 years after physical possession of the car was given to the new owner & was sold in XXXX to the new owner. I contacted the XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX & was informed me both on the phone and as well as in person that I am not responsible for the car since it was sold & I no longer had possession of the car since XXXX. The DMV instructed me to get help from the federal trade commission ( FTC ) & that they would help me. The FTC told me to contact them back when I receive mail back from the collection agency in order to file a complaint at consumerfinance.gov XX/XX/XXXX : -During a phone call XXXX XXXX from Finex Group LLC : She said that I have no other option but to pay the amount of over {$4000.00} for tow debt on a car that I sold two years ago in XXXX. I asked if we could go to court or judge to get help to figure this out, she said no, and that the only option is to pay the {$4000.00}. She told me that the tow place no longer is associated with the debt. I asked who is in the charge of the debt, she would not answer me and would not let me know who was in charge of the debt, just that I need to pay it because it will not go away. She said that I need to pay the debt or it will negatively affect my credit, that there is growing interest of 10 % per year that is accumulating, and the debt will never go away unless I pay. I asked her if I can go to the DMV to sort this out, she said that going to the DMV would not help & paying the amount is the only way.

On XX/XX/XXXX I sold a XXXX XXXX XXXX to a stranger for XXXX XXXX Upon sale the title was signed over to the new owner, I filled out and submitted a Release of Liability online to the CA DMV. On XX/XX/XXXX, I received a letter from a debt collection group called Finex Group, LLC Collection Services stating that I owed {$2600.00} for this vehicle, which was towed to and held at a tow yard two days after I sold it. I called Finex and explained that the vehicle no longer belonged to me and that a Release of Liability was filled out and submitted with the DMV, however they stated that they did not care and insisted that because at the time of tow the vehicle still showed me as the registered owner, that I am liable for this debt. I have since obtained a certified copy of the Release of Liability from the DMV ( attached ) which I have shown to Finex, but they continue to insist I owe the debt. I have spoken to the DMV Investigations Division Offices in XXXX and XXXX XXXX, of which representatives from both offices have informed me that regardless of whether or not I was the registered owner of the vehicle when it was towed, I am not liable for this debt since I have filled out the release of liability. During my attempts to contact Finex Group and dispute this debt, they have maintained that I owe this alleged debt, and that the amount of the debt is increasing daily due to interest. They have also threatened to damage my credit score. I must note that due to issues with a pending transaction with the CA DMV, the Release of Liability I originally submitted was received but not processed. It is however still shown on file as submitted, as seen on the certified copy of the Release of Liability. I have since re-submitted the original document to the DMV, and it has been processed on XX/XX/XXXX and backdated to the date of sale ( XX/XX/XXXX ). Representatives from both the XXXX XXXX and XXXX DMV Investigation offices have assured me that this is still valid proof that I do not owe this debt, as Release of Liability notices can lawfully be backdated with full validity. I believe that I am not liable for this alleged debt under California Vehicle Code 5602, and that the amount that they are attempting to collect from me qualifies as extortion under California Civil Code 3068 ( Section c1 ).

On XX/XX/XXXX, I received a letter from the Finex Group, LLC Collection Services regarding a {$2800.00} collection for vehicle towing and storage that took place on XX/XX/XXXX. I called the Finex Group on the evening of XX/XX/XXXX, the customer service representative stated that the vehicle in question was registered to my name. The customer service representative informed me that the Finex Group had proof the vehicle was registered to my name by the Department of Motor Vehicles ( DMV ). I went to the DMV office on XX/XX/XXXX. The DMV stated the vehicle in question was never registered to my name. I called the Finex Group again on XX/XX/XXXX, and informed them that the DMV has no record of the vehicle ever being registered to my name ; therefore, I was not responsible for the fees the Finex Group was attempting to collect. The representative stated they had proof that the vehicle was registered in my name from the DMV. I requested a copy of the document they were using ; the representative informed me that it could take 30 days to send the document and proceeded to hang up on me. I received a copy of the proof the Finex Group claimed they had via mail the week of XX/XX/XXXX. The document the Finex Group sent was not a document provided by the DMV. It was an " Notice of Pending Lien Sale for Vehicle Values {$4000.00} or Less '' form filled out by XX/XX/XXXX and was submitted to the DMV in XXXX of 2016. This document is not completed by the DMV ; therefore, the Finex Group is using inaccurate information to collect a debt that I am not responsible for. Attempts to explain this to the Finex Group have been unsuccessful and they are still using the form submitted to the DMV as proof of ownership. This form can be completed by anyone and does not reflect actual DMV record. In this case, the form was completed by XX/XX/XXXX, not the DMV. In conclusion, the Finex Group is attempting to collect and report debt I am not responsible for to the credit bureaus which would damage my credit based on inaccurate information. The " proof '' the Finex Group has does not demonstrate that the vehicle in question was ever registered to by name which can only be confirmed by the DMV. The DMV has confirmed that the vehicle was never registered in my name.

I received a phone call from Finex Group LLC stating that I owe a debt on towing charges for a vehicle that I sold in XXXX. I let them know that I sold the car in XXXX and that I am not responsible for the debt owed as I submitted a release of liability form with the CA DMV at the time of sale. The car was found on a property in XXXX and I was notified by the local sheriffs department that the car was found. After a phone call with the CA DMV and Sheriffs Department, I was told I did not have any responsibility for the towing charges associated with the vehicle and that they will contact the buyer that I sold the car to in XXXX. ( The car was sold one more time after I sold it and both owners failed to register the vehicle ). The buyer that I sold the car to didnt have an address and refused to provide me an address, so the DMV advised that I list Transient on the release of liability to clear me of liability and it was successfully processed. Fast forward to XX/XX/XXXX. The employee that I spoke to at Finex Group LLC, XXXX, aggressively belittled me and argued saying that its my fault and responsibility for this debt even though the DMV and Sheriffs Department already cleared me of this responsibility. She asked me if I cared about my the negative impact this will put on my credit if I dont pay, which is a clear violation of the FDCPA. In addition, she stated that This debt is indisputable so [ you ] might as well get an attorney before I was even sent a letter and given a chance to dispute and investigate the debt that is not mine. This seems like an illegal and unfair attempt to collect a debt. Furthermore, I never received a bill or was ever contacted by the original towing company and had no idea of the charges. I filed a dispute with Finex Group LLC and they immediately invalidated my claim. Finex Group LLC used aggressive scare tactics and threatened a negative credit report if I didnt set up a payment plan that day for a debt that is not my responsibility and I would like this resolved as soon as possible.

On XX/XX/XXXX, I sold A van I owned. I sent the release of liability to the DMV the same day I sold the van and that was the last I heard. On XX/XX/XXXX I received a notice from a collection agency for tow fee 's, this was the first I was notified of any issues with the vehicle I sold. We 've had a problem in our neighborhood with mail being delivered to wrong address or not all so i 'm not certain that the tow company mailed me something as the collection agency claims as they have not provided any proof of that mail ever coming to me. On XX/XX/XXXX I sent a written letter along with supporting documentation that I sold the car back in XXXX. The collection agency responded and I received a letter on XX/XX/XXXX stating my dispute was not valid and a copy of tow paperwork stating the car was sold for {$170.00}. They are telling me I owe {$1700.00} for storage for a vehicle I clearly sold and have proof I sold it. The collection agency tells me it the tow was for a police impound and where the car was towed from is in close vicinity to the person i sold the car who is listed on the bill of sale. I 'm not certain what happened when I sent the release of liability to the DMV as the car had XXXX License plate I 'm not sure if XXXX forwarded to document to XXXX. What I am positive of and under penalty of perjury I sold the car and followed the steps I needed to take to remove myself from liability. I even cancelled my car insurance. I accepted a job as a flight attendant and moved out of the State of XXXX in XXXX of XXXX. The collection agency told me I need to pay the debt and then sue the person I sold the car to in small claims court. That sounds to me like a sold a car for {$100.00} and now owe {$1700.00} plus small claims and I will be out all that money. This does not seem legal.

I had a XX/XX/XXXX Honda Accord, which finally not working in XX/XX/XXXX after running for about 17 years XXXX totaled XXXX miles ). The car was filed as non-operational with XXXX. So, XXXX day some guy left me a note on the car asked if I 'm interested to sell the car. I called the guy and he came and towe the car away. I ask the guy for his personal infomation and went to XXXX and filed the release of ownership ( see attached XXXX record ). However, a few weeks later, I received a letter from the Police saids my car was parked on the side of the freeway and then was towed to a towing yard. At the same time I received a collection letter from Finex Group, acct # XXXX saying I owed {$2900.00}. I called and told them the car is not mine anymore, but they keep insist that I 'm still the owner. I told them I have the XXXX record to show the car is not mine anymore. However, they refuse to remove from collection. I think this is some kind of scram. They purposely buy cars from owners and left them somewhere and then have towing company tow it to their guarage and trying to collect from original owner. I would like CFPB to seriously look into this matter and have this item remove from my credit report. Thank you so much. XXXX

Upon seeing a collection account reported on my XXXX credit report, I contacted, by Certified Mail with Return Receipt, the collection agency called XXXX XXXX, XXXX, XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX, CA XXXX ( XXXX ), on XX/XX/2017, regarding a collection account in the amount of {$1800.00}. I kindly requested them to validate the debt and give me more info on it. To date I have not received any response from them. I think the collection company is in default as they did not respond within 30 days time. In fact they never replied to my letter seeking validation and more details on my alleged debt. The collection information still remains on my XXXX credit profile and it is preventing me from moving forward, financially speaking. The collection agencies are very arrogant and defiant of consumer laws. They are under the false illusion that they are all powerful and invincible. I pray that you, the Consumer Finance Protection Bureau will reign on them and limit their power, arrogance and gross disrespect for the law. I can be contacted at : XXXX. I bought a car, for parts, from XXXX XXXX. I paid {$200.00} for it and she gave me the title which had not been transferred into her name. She wrecked the car before registering it. She had a friend take the car to work on it. Said friend went to jail. The car was on XXXX XXXX in XXXX. When I went to get the car, I was told it was n't the car I had bought. When the gentleman let me look at the car, I could tell he had put a different Vin. # on top of the original one. He said he had no keys to open the door. He and his friend got aggressive towards me and told me to leave. I went to the city of XXXX with pictures of the car in his yard. They said XXXX was in the county jurisdiction and would not go with me to try to get the car. The Shefiffs department would not go either. I never had the car in my possession. The car was burnt up and towed to XXXX & XXXX XXXX in XXXX. They put a lien against the car and billed me for {$2000.00}. I explained that the car was never in my possession therefore I was not liable for bill. They then sent the bill to a collection agency, who in turn billed me.

Debt collector is attempting to collect for a towing company that towed a vehicle that i no longer owned. I sold the car to an individual and the individual that I sold the car to, got it towed. I tried explaining this to the debt collector but they did n't care, stating that i was the registered owner at the time. Which is not true and I have documentation to prove it. I have a copy of the certified document from the DMV that shows that I sold the vehicle on XX/XX/2016. The vehicle did n't get towed til after that. The Dmv clearly states that the previous owner is no longer responsible for any tickets or issues pertaining to the vehicle after the date that the vehicle is sold. Received a voice mail on my phone number that has not been used in 3 years saying that she was XXXX XXXX from financial group with FINEX GROUP collecting a " Debt ''????? Call her at XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX I did not return this call because I OWE NO ONE. I have NO CREDIT CARDS< I HAVE NO CAR PAYMENTS< I HAVE NO MORTGAGE, I HAVE NO DEBTS!!! These low-lives are all over the Internet with similar complaints. Put them in jail, out of business, deport, fined, whatever it takes.

CFPB closed my previous complaint on XXXX for whatever reason and then the same company, FINEX Group XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX called again saying I owed a debt? I NEVER received anything in writing from anyone for a debt. I have NO Debt, No mortgage, No Car, No credit card, etc. Their Web site says their address is Permanently Closed. Please put these scammers in jail.
