Sent first dispute letter to Financial Adjustment Bureau ( XXXX, IA collection company ) in XXXX regarding XXXX bills on my credit report. Received multiple pages of printouts from their own computer system, along with some type of copy of medical bills, XXXX of which violated HIPPA law, not XXXX contained my signature. Have time/date prints of my credit reports showing failure to report dispute to credit bureaus within 31 days. Sent followup letter, XXXX, again disputing and asking for validation according to federal law, received a single printed page ( dated XXXX ) from them stating amounts, now with interest/service charges, and a brief statement ... '' '' Thank you for your letter. We sent information to XXXX today to report the above accounts as disputed. We did provide you with validation of debt for these accounts and will not be removing them from your credit report. You received the services and are responsible for payment. '' '' Very appalling from these " professionals '' in the business since XXXX, especially when, in my dispute letter, I pointed out what validation means. Not to mention the consumer address on the HIPPA violation was never mine, there are multiple people with same name and close to same age as myself on the county 's on-line court records, I can not get credit bureaus to remove this address from my report with this collector reporting the address to the credit report under my SSN. Multiple federal laws broken, yet they still want to act as if they are in the right.

I sent a USPS certified mail/return receipt letter to Financial Adjustment Bureau XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX, IA XXXX, requesting a debt validation letter and to discuss the issue of the interest they were applying to this medical debt. Their response to this validation request is enclosed. I am not sure if their letter is sufficient enough to be construed as a debt validation letter. They included a convoluted statement from XXXX XXXX XXXX, but nothing that states XXXX XXXX XXXX acquired the services of Financial Adjustment Bureau to collect the debt. They stated " Under Iowa law, if interest is not specified in writing, it is allowed at a 5 % annual percentage rate at commences six months from date of charge. '' I went online under Iowa Interest rates laws and saw this, but it did not indicate this applies to medical debts. One website states " Whether a loan is to buy a car, a house, or just to pay the rent or other household expenses, '' but medical debts are not " loans. '' Also, in their letter they did not state what part of Iowa law they are referring to, such as chapter and sections, or any proof under Iowa law that this applies to collecting on old medical debt.

On XX/XX/2021, I submitted a complaint to the CFPB in regards to the issue I am having with Financial Adjustment Bureau. The collector responded to the complaint on XX/XX/2021, and advised that because the account was not disputed within the initial 30 day validation periods they were not obligated to respond. 15 U.S.C. 1692g ( c ) provides that failure by the consumer to dispute the debt during the thirty-day period after the debt collector 's initial communication with the consumer may not be construed by any court as an admission by the consumer that he is liable for the debt. I did not receive any proof from the collector that I was notified of the debts. The company has violated Iowa Consumer Credit Code 537.7103 ( c ) by failing to negotiate my disputes in good faith and willfully refusing to correct the issue. The company claims they have no responsibility to respond to a validation request, but this is false as they're a debt collector and not the original creditor.

We are being charged interest rates on medical bills. XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX amount XXXX interest XXXX fees XXXX total XXXX XXXX XXXX amount XXXX interest XXXX fees XXXX total XXXX XXXX XXXX amount XXXX interest XXXX fees XXXX amount XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX about XXXX interest XXXX fees XXXX amount XXXX Other creditors amount XXXX interest XXXX fees XXXX amount XXXX From everything I've read it's not legal to charge interest on medical bills because interest was never written in the original contract. When i asked why they were charging interest on medical she told me they were allowed to do that as a 3d party debt collector. I don't have exact dates but the statement date i have here is XX/XX/2019. I have been paying on this for maybe 2 years {$50.00} every other week..did n't look at statements because their amounts were high and figured it would take awhile. I was told the money goes to principal then they get there interest after. Thank you

I've sent multiple letters to this agency about this not being my account. After being advised by identitytheft.gov, I've completed and sent a fraud affidavit via certified mail. I can see they received it, but nothing has changed. See supporting documents. Even the USPS tracking. My official complaint is against FINANCIAL ADJUSTMENT. My information was used to obtain an apartment, cell phone, and an auto loan with my ex-partner. I am a victim of identity theft and have put this off for too long. I've completed the proper steps, 1. notify creditors 2. police report 3. informed the state of Texas. The individual I've suspected for this theft is now deceased, and the police department said to contact the federal trade commission to seek relief. These companies disregard laws and dont care whos credit or lives they impact.

On XX/XX/2021, a request for validation was sent to the collection agency 's office via certified U.S. mail. On XX/XX/2021, USPS receipts indicate the letter was delivered to the collection agency. Following no response from the agency for over 30 days, a second letter of non-response was sent on XX/XX/2021. USPS receipts indicate this letter ( which included copies of the original ) was delivered on XX/XX/2021. It has been more than 30 days since the last dispute was sent and I still have not received any validation this debt is mine, despite the accounts still being reported on my credit. Furthermore, the accounts appear on my XXXX report without all critical information required to report an account.

Talked to supervisor of Financial Adjustment Bureau on XX/XX/20. He threatened a lawsuit with wage garnishment if debts were not paid within 20 days. When I asked for proof of debt, he claimed that he had already done that and that he would not do it again. I told him that I have no idea what these debts are and I would like to validate them, he said no. He stated that we ( my husband and I ) must get a loan to pay {$1400.00} in 20 days or his attorney will sue for the amount owed and they will garnish wages. There is no way that I can dispute the debt because I never received notice of the debt.
