Equinox Counseling services offered credit repair services to my client based upon the recommendation of a lending officer. Under CROA under 1679b. Prohibited practices, it is prohibited to collect any payment in advance for credit repair. Equinox Counseling Services charged my client {$940.00} up front and when I confronted her in an email she stated she collected the monthly fee 's in advance, but when asked how many months and if she could refund the money because client would not continue with her she never answered my email or phone calls. My client also asked to cancel the same day after he told me he signed up with her and when he talked to XXXX XXXX, she said he couldn't cancel and get a refund because she had already sent out the dispute letters. In Texas, they have a 3 day cooling period and she said he didn't qualify. After emailing XXXX and confronting her and demanding answers, my client called me the next day and stated he didn't want any problems and she hadn't called him in 2 weeks until I messaged her asking for a full refund to my client since she violated the CROA. Now my client has mentioned to me he does not want any trouble and that he will put his home search off for a few months. This comes the same day after I had emailed her again. Also, after many attempts to get in touch with the mortgage lender I finally got a call back and the lender told me that many people from his office were leaving the business for this type of home loan. My client then calls me and tells me that the loans will be available at the end of this month. Whether he purchases a home or not, I don't want anybody else to be taken advantage of, especially, a client like this who puts his trust into me. If you need screenshots of the emails, XXXX messages ( which they never responded either ) and/or phone calls, please let me know and I can provide that. She stated in her own email that she had charged the money up front.
