I am self employed as a sole proprietor and also as an Independent XXXX doing Temp work in finance and IT for Temp agencies. I worked briefly at XXXX during the pandemic and was injured, requiring reconstructive ankle XXXX. Due to the above injury I was unable to receive any unemployment during the pandemic and XXXX told me that they would refuse XXXX 's comp ( it was an injury on the clock at XXXX ). Instead I was refused medical assistance due to the fact that I was on unpaid leave for 2 years while trying to remain employed otherwise. My doctor finally evaluated me after I had to lie and say that I injured myself at home.
I have been very actually using Eastern Bank for some substantial income over the years and they were always very understanding especially during the pandemic.
Literally the day that the pandemic was formally lifted in Massachusetts, Eastern Bank suddenly stopped paying my bills in a reasonable amount of time. My credit score dropped XXXX points due to the fact ( based on feedback from my creditors ), both my Personal a business Checking accounts simply weren't clearing payments for weeks. Literally like clockwork, both accounts would be fully funded for my debits to creditors, but on the 9th business day all my payments through both Eastern Bank accounts would clear on the same day resulting in sometimes only a few dollars of overdraft, yet they would change NSF fees ( for the first time I ever ) and the fees easily put my account far negative, in essence ensuring that I would be charged a fee for ever single transaction all 3 times it was attempted, generally regardless of if I made enough deposits to cover the charges, my account would just be left with nothing being paid out and then suddenly the same situation would happen again.
I watched my business checking account accrue almost a XXXXXXXX XXXX in NSF fees on a balance which the bank clearly knew that there was no money in the account due to straight fee after fee for months. Literally every single item in my business account that I have to repay is a fee.
The customer service was as if the bank was bought out ( which it did change ownership ), but they denied on a recorded call that not one policy had changed on the day I started seeing NSF fees and every single item I presented being paid, then 9 days later again, another few XXXXXXXX XXXX in NSF fees were charged instead of overdraft fees.
It was almost as if the moment either account had a positive balance, they would clear every pending transaction at once, and 9 days later process a couple XXXXXXXX XXXX in fees resulting in no funds to pay one single charge or bill.
I contacted the bank over and over and they would add up every transaction several different ways and I noticed that they were lying on the phone, as the online balance and activity shown displayed plenty of funds available and the fees were being charged after the paid ( not pending ) transactions were complete for weeks... Then all returned at once due to the fees making the transactions unable to clear. Additionally, the NSF fees charged had no explanation of why and exactly what transaction was being referenced and returned until I asked over the phone. I do accounting as XXXX of my volunteering and workplace jobs/skills and it was obvious that they were just moving the numbers around and my personal calculations in my head gave me different balances with the same numbers they were reciting on the phone and I was hung up on when I asked why I was getting a positive balance over and over again when the representative pretended I was just lost in all the transactions and just continued using all the same transactions in different sequences trying to prove that all the fees had nothing to do with my overdrawn accounts.
I was working 50-60 hours a week literally paying only bank fees for months and couldn't pay my bills as they would be paid, then reversed almost 2 weeks later that even my credit card was getting frustrated with the way my bank was processing my payments -- often over 2 billing cycles, which they tried to investigate.
I am 100 % certain that I am not the only customer with exactly the same issue with Eastern Bank. I no longer have access to a single statement from the bank, but the statements literally made no logical sense as even the payments and returned payments, then NSF fees would also bridge 2 monthly cycles.
I have no idea what to do except try to speak with them rationally.
Case and point : The collections department was very polite and told me that their bank can not do what they were doing while I was trying over and over to work with the customer service department and they were being rude and deceptive. They actually suggested that I switch banks and apologized ( the collections department!! ).

I had an incident with Eastern Bank - XXXX XXXX - XXXX ( XXXX ) in XXXX XXXX, MA on XX/XX/XXXX. I deposited {$200.00} in cash. The next day, I got the confirmation email of my deposit and it said, {$180.00} was deposited. My RECEIPT said {$200.00}. I immediately went to the bank and the bank manager wasn't very helpful or apologetic. She went up to a bank teller and proceeded to speak to her in XXXX, even thought both of them know how to speak English. That's so unprofessional. And also makes the assumption that because I'm XXXX, that I don't speak XXXX. And the teller said in XXXX that it was {$180.00} as well. And the manager didn't apologize and was defensive, " People make mistakes. '' So I went to Eastern Bank in XXXX XXXX and I asked them to look into it. They told me that it was Teller XXXX and that my deposit slip was tampered with and altered to read {$180.00}, ten minutes after I left the bank on the XXXX. Later on the XXXX, I got a call from the manager of XXXX XXXX and they credited my account. But whatever happened, this is criminal and this needs to be investigated. As well as the unprofessional behavior of the manager. -- UPDATE : I heard from a XXXX XXXX from the problem resolution specialist. We exchanged a few emails regarding the issue, and then she said she had to speak with me on the phone to validate my account. I avoid speaking on the phone, because of the lack of a paper trail. That's when she proceeded to tell me that the deposit slip was written out for {$280.00} and that I told them to change it to {$180.00}! I did NO such thing! I asked her for a copy of the deposit slip and it's CLEARLY forged! If any changes were supposed to be made, I would have had to initial or make out a new slip, etc. But that didn't happen, because the teller made the changes after I left the bank! Then I received a letter from Eastern Bank saying that I made a cash deposit of {$180.00}. And said that the cash deposit of {$100.00} was incorrect!!!!! Didn't mention anything about the deposit slip being forged to read {$280.00} and then {$180.00}! SEE ATTACHED photos of the doctored deposit slip. You can CLEARLY see that I DO NOT write my 8 's or 1 's the way it is written! It's not my handwriting! Too late for Eastern Bank to back-pedal on that one! Photographic proof! I also filed a police report.

XX/XX/XXXX I attempted to check my Eastern Bank account balance via online. I was prompted to contact the customer service via telephone following that a representative advised me to visit the branch when I arrived at the branch before speaking with the teller I tried to use my debit card at the ATM and alerted it stolen. Upon approaching the teller I summarized the events he checked both of my accounts and confirmed the debit card was indeed reported stolen. Uncertain of the next steps he requested assistance from a senior teller whom was extremely volatile. She begin loudly stating your account is overdrawn {$470.00} are you making a deposit and proceeded to take my debit cards out of my hand stating I dont think you can have these. I explained to her that I was in receipt of a deposit on that day so unfortunately I would not be making a deposit because all the money I had was taking by the bank and I now couldnt use the account. Ultimately she stated what do you want to do Im confused why you came in. At that time I asked if someone could please contact me because I was totally confused what happened to my accounts. The following day I attempted to call the branch to see if they had any updates and it was a failed attempt. Ive been reached out to customer service on four different occasions that same day via telephone, was unsuccessful. Following that day, I decided to visit another branch and became aware that my accounts were closed and could no longer have access but still COULD NOT have a reason why. The teller stated there wasnt anything I could do and I would receive a letter still not knowing why my account to a closed I attempted to contact the bank again via telephone. A few days later I received a letter stating my account was closed for possible check fraud. I reached out to the contact person and explain that unfortunately I was NOT aware of this but while I was not present my family member that was an active XXXX gained access to my accounts via XXXX. Devastated I pleaded if there was anything I could do to rectify this matter and I was told NO that it was going on my credit report and will be removed in 7 years and I would no longer be able to get a Eastern Bank account and it would be extremely hard to get any bank account because Im now flagged as FRAUD.

On XX/XX/2022, I mailed a personal check for {$490.00} from my account with Eastern Bank to pay my credit card bill, using the window envelope provided with my monthly billing statement, along with the detachable payment coupon for my bill. I sent it to my credit card company 's post office box, designated for mail-in payments. This was a full/timely payment of my monthly bill. On XX/XX/2022, my credit card company informed me that my payment was never received and that I should expect late fees to be applied. I immediately confirmed with Eastern Bank that my payment was negotiated and my bank provided me with a front and back copy of the cashed check. The back of the check shows a scanned endorsement for a deposit into a business account with XXXX for another entity, and expressly references my entire credit card number. I asked Eastern Bank-as well as my credit card company-to conduct a thorough investigation concerning my misapplied/misappropriated payment. On XX/XX/XXXX, the credit card company sent me a letter denying receipt of the funds and informing me that the temporary credit related to this dispute is now reversed, interest charges are now being assessed, and I must contact my bank for assistance in learning what happened to my funds as no further investigation will be made. Upon receipt of this letter I contacted Eastern Bank, which initially refused to initiate any investigation on my behalf because I was not the payee of the stolen/misapplied check. Instead, I was instructed to contact XXXX to determine what happened to my funds. However, because I not an account holder with XXXX, XXXX ( quite understandably ) refused to disclose any account information to me. I then contacted Eastern Bank again and asked that they conduct an investigation on my behalf. The company agreed but only if I completed a notarized Affidavit of Forged or Missing Payee 's Endorsement ( as the named payee ). I immediately went to the bank 's local branch that same day and completed the affidavit as required. I subsequently learned today that no investigation has been initiated and I have been unable to find out what has happened to my stolen/misappropriated funds.

I was paid on XX/XX/19 by XXXX with a check from XXXX XXXX for XXXX. I mobile deposited the check on XX/XX/19 to my XXXX XXXX account. The funds were released. Then on XX/XX/19 the check was deposited again by an unknown individual to Eastern Bank. XXXX was charged twice, he said he opened a claim and that they took back my funds but not from Eastern Bank and was unsure why. XXXX tried to open a duplicate check claim with XXXX XXXX and the FDIC was involved. They issued a temporary credit to my XXXX account but then took it back out. I was never explained why. I inquired with XXXX he said there is nothing more he can do. He stated that the person at Eastern Bank still has his money. The individual who fradguaently cashed the check a second time. You can see that they never did a second signature on their mobile deposit, and that account is not one belonging to me with my name, so a second signature should have been required to process that.
You can see a trail for checks deposited by me from XXXX. The unknown individual at Eastern bank has no trail as this was fraud. They have the funds that are supposed to belong to me.
I have reached out to all three banks and they all are saying to contact the other.

I rented a vehicle for quoted price of {$890.00} When I returned the vehicle, I signed a form showing that the vehicle was returned in the same condition I found it, full tank of fuel, etc. At this time, no cost or discussion of the vehicles condition was provided to me. I did receive this document through email.
Several days later, they charged my debit card {$1100.00}, with no follow up information or explanation of charges. At no point did I ever receive a receipt referencing a dollar amount or any sort of itemization of charges.
I raised this dispute with my bank, who refused to continue with the dispute due to the missing receipt.
I raised this dispute to XXXX, who refused to proceed with the dispute due to the missing receipt referring to the incorrect amount.
I am extremely frustrated by everyone 's lack of action. I have a quote showing one price, a signed document upon return of the vehicle that proves that I abided by the terms of the quoted price, and a charge to my bank account for several XXXX dollars more than the quoted price. I am extremely disturbed by the lack of ethics shown by XXXX, Eastern Bank, and XXXX all colluding to defraud me.

This is less about aggressive tactics and more about repeatedly ignoring our calls to try and pay off the debt while continuing to add interest to the amount owed. My partner and I have been trying to reach Eastern Bank 's debt collection department since XX/XX/2020 so that we can pay off our debt with them. We have been put on hold for over an hour, transferred around to different departments ( apparently none of them the correct department ), and eventually we just get hung up on. We've tried emailing, also no dice. We've never experienced such an uphill battle to try and pay a bill. But then we noticed that month after month Eastern bank is adding interest in what seems like an attempt to restart the clock on the 7.5 year time limit for leaving the debt on our credit reports. All we want is ( 1 ) an actual means of communicating with this company that holds our debt, ( 2 ) an accessible means of paying off said debt, and ( 3 ) we don't believe we should be responsible for the interest that's been accruing while Eastern Bank refuses to answer our calls/ acknowledge our attempts to pay our debt.

I have opened the checking account with Eastern bank on XXXX as per promotion incentive to get {$600.00} if I do combine {$15000.00} direct deposits, which I did already a month back. I should get the incentive in 30 days after qualification as per the term they advertised clearly as below.
" Account must be open and have a positive balance. Incentives for qualified accounts will be deposited into customers account no later than 30 calendar days after confirmation that the account has met all the requirements. '' However, I called twice and also email to banking officer where I opened this account got all misleading information. Banking officer replied I am not qualified. The customer service said I have to wait till XXXX as it will be paid after 120 days which is a clear cut deviation of the terms mentioned by them while opening.

Obtained a Massachusetts Heat Loan from Eastern Bank approximately seven years ago. On XX/XX/2020 I submitted payment # 83 of 84 payments. *4th payment ticket does not have final amount owed on it and states that " Before maturity we will send you a notice about your final payment. '' As of XX/XX/2020 I did not receive a final notice and needed to call Eastern Bank customer service. The woman I spoke to was very helpful and provided my final payment amount that is due on XX/XX/XXXX which is 1 week away and I explained I was not pleased I did not receive my final notice as stated. While the woman I spoke to was helpful, I would like to make the regulatory agency and Eastern Bank aware that it is unfair that I did not receive my final notice timely as the ticket book states.

I texted with Eastern Bank customer support today. They claim I was late and they are not allowed to remove accurate remarks. They said responsibility 100 % falls on me to pay on time and its not their fault if they do not inform me if payment is due. This just feels absurd.
My original load was through XXXX bank. Eastern bank purchased century bank. I did not receive mail, phone call or email explaining the change. I sent a check to century bank last summer, it was not cashed sent back. I contacted XXXX bank and they did not respond.
It sounds like the merger was a mess and I am being punished. It does not seem fair.
Then my credit got damaged for late payment. I paid the balance in full when their collection agent called. I responded to the first call.

I came home from work on XX/XX/2022 checked my mail and found a debit card opened in Eastern Bank that I never opened.
