Step 1 : What is the complaint about? This complaint is about a mortgage company that systematically delayed getting our mortgage approved in order to get more money out of me and my wife. Step 2 : What type of problem are you having ( had )? A crooked mortgage company that was trying to fleece us for {$50000.00} in closing costs on a {$300000.00} home. Step 3 : What happened? In XX/XX/2020, we hired the following company to assist us with a FHA loan : XXXX XXXX, Loan Originator, Developer 's Mortgage XXXX, XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX . XXXX XXXX, TX XXXX, XXXX, ( XXXX ) XXXX, ( XXXX ) XXXX. This company intentionally delayed the approval of our mortgage in hopes of getting more money out of us at closing. Here 's what happened. I am a veteran, who when I first contacted this company wanted a VA loan, however, it was discovered that I could not do VA on this particular house so in XXXX we opted for a FHA loan. Now, prior to this the mortgage company was saying that to qualify with the lender better, it would behoove us to sell our we lived in, and that would reflect one less debt. After 8 weeks of delay after delay and being out of over {$12000.00} in hotel bills because they drug their feet on the approval, we fired them, hired another company that got it done is 3.5 weeks. When this company presented us with docs prior to closing the wanted {$30000.00} and they were the underwriter was asking for some of the same docs we had given them over and over again. We walked away from them, found another mortgage company who only wanted {$17000.00} at closing and was able to close us in 4 weeks. That {$30000.00} they wanted was 76 % higher than what the mortgage company we went with wanted. When we saw such a huge difference in closing costs between the two companies and started thinking about how they had one delay in approving us after another, we began to wonder if they were trying to fleece us for additional money or if they were violating some kind of mortgage laws that we are unaware of. That is why we are contacting you because if they did it to us they have probably done it before, and I have the docs to prove it. And the way they delayed us was by asking for the same information over and over again. It was ridiculous! I've never seen anything like it and this is my 3rd home owning. Unbelievable!!!!!!!
