XXXX XXXX TV service is attempting to collect a debt I do not believe I owe. I signed up with XXXX XXXX TV service in XXXX when I moved to a new residence. In the past 2 years, XXXX took over for XXXX in my area, and took over my TV and Internet service. I became dissatisfied with the service of XXXX, and called to cancel my service. I had already signed up with a new company to avoid interruption, and when I talked to XXXX they told me you can't cancel mid-month. I did not think this was accurate, as I had signed up with XXXX and the policy was no contract, cancel at any time. When I mentioned this to a member in billing from XXXX, they told me I would be credited the amount back from the day I told them I was canceling. ( This document is attached to this complaint ) I started receiving bills for a full months amount, even though I called in to cancel on the morning of the 3rd day of the billing cycle. I called to inquire, which I was told they do not prorate monthly bills. I sent in a check for {$34.00} to cover the 3 days I used of the billing cycle, along with a letter stating if they cashed the check they agreed that this was final payment on the bill. I also sent in a letter stating my case and a copy of the conversation with the billing person saying I'd be credited the portion of the month after I canceled. The check was cashed, and I didn't hear anything for almost 2 months, when a credit collection agency contacted me. The credit agency is Credit Control ( XXXX ), told me I owed {$170.00} ( roughly ) remaining on the account. I explained my situation and said I wanted to dispute the debt. After about 2 weeks, the Credit Agency called me back again saying XXXX was not going to change the amount they say I owe, and did not have to accept my payment as final payment because they did not sign a credit release form, or something like that. I told the Credit Control agent that I needed to think about what to do, after they told me it would go on my credit report starting Sunday XX/XX/XXXX. I think this is pretty raw deal for me, I don't believe that a company changing a policy after I signed up for something, without direct notice is fair. If they don't need to accept my payment as final payment without signing something, I certainly don't think it's fair to let them change their terms of service without having me sign in receipt of the changes. I certainly did not sign up for a contracted service, for them to enforce that later on is wrong. I've done everything I can to right this, I have chatted multiple times with the XXXX billing department, twice with the Credit Control agent, and written into XXXX. I paid a fair portion of the final billing cycle, included the text of the chat with their agent who told me I wouldn't be charged for the portion of the month after I called to cancel. XXXX changing the policy of the plan for which I signed up without direct notice of changes not buried in 200 pages of fine print is not fair to the consumer.

Credit Control out of XXXX XXXX, VA XXXX was hired by XXXX XXXX a cable/internet/phone company to collect a debt on a closed account in the amount of XXXX. I requested to pay the vendor ( XXXX ) directly and on 2 occasions stated I could not. This is untrue as I paid a partial payment directly to XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX in the amount of XXXX leaving a balance of XXXX. XXXX ( operator at Credit Control ) stated if I didn't pay the full amount ( they would not offer any payment arrangements ) by XX/XX/XXXX it would go up XXXX and be reported to the credit agencies. She is one of the operators to state that I could not pay XXXX directly ( not true, XXXX took my aforementioned payment and it reflected on Credit Controls end ). After speaking to another operator, they stated if I made the payment " AFTER '' XX/XX/XXXX then only would I see the XXXX collection fee and then it would be reported if not paid byXX/XX/XXXX. By XXXX telling me that I had until the XXXX only for both penalties ( XXXX collection fee AND credit reporting ), I put myself further in a financially difficult situation by paying the full amount to get them to not only stop harassing me ( calling me frequently ), but to avoid a ding on my credit which is getting repaired by on time payments and good relations with my credit card companies and creditors. XXXX of Credit control used intimidation and threats of a credit report by misleading me with information that not only my collection amount would increase, my account and lack of payment would be reported on XX/XX/XXXX. The key to this is that this information was INCORRECT! The fee increase would happen if I didn't pay on or by the XXXX and the report would happen if the full amount and any collection fees were not paid by XX/XX/XXXX. It's because of this misleading, threatening and intimidating consequences that I paid the bill to avoid the threats of penalties and reporting based on the FALSE Date of XX/XX/XXXX. I complained to a supervisor ( XXXX ) but her only concern was that I pay them and they would no longer contact me and not the tactics of XXXX using FALSE information in order to satisfy a debt by threatening credit reporting and an increase in fees if not paid by a date that was not in fact the actual deadline. This should not be legal or tolerated. If they have rights to report and add fees, they should do so on the days legally allowed. Why are they lying to consumers with threats of reports and fees on false deadlines if they have eventually the right to do said penalties per the law?

Credit Control Company has again violated my consumer rights under the Fair Debt Collection Practice Act section 1692E8 with misleading and deceptive conduct by not acknowledging or updating these fraud related accounts are currently in dispute on my credit reports. Control Company continues to violate the Fair Debt Collection Practice Act and Fair Credit Reporting Act under Arkansas by attempting to collect on Medical Debt more than 2 years old. Debts incurred for medical services have a statute of limitations of 2 years from the date the service ( s ) was rendered or from the date in which the most partial payment was made ( A.C.A. 16-56-106 ). Prior to entering into an agreement to pay off a debt, a consumer should ensure the debt is actually still due and payable. I also requested HIPPA release documentation which was never provided by Credit Control Company. Credit Control Company has failed to respond or mention this issue regarding my initial complaint and should be held accountable.

Over the past several months I've attempted to resolve wrong/inaccurate identity theft related accounts with a company called Credit Control Company. I have reached out via mail with both the three major consumer reporting agencies and directly with Credit Control Company. I've included a copy of an identity theft report # XXXX, affidavits, and dispute letters. In addition Credit Control Company continues to violate the Fair Debt Collection Practice Act and Fair Credit Reporting Act under Arkansas by attempting to collect on Medical Debt more than 2 years old. I also requested HIPPA release documentation which was never provided by Credit Control Company. Despite these several violations of my consumer rights, these fraud related/inaccurate accounts continue to appear on my credit reports. I find these actions unacceptable and Credit Control Company must be held accountable.

Ive sent ( 2 ) Certified Letters to them requesting validation and verification of the ( 2 ) debts associated with this account. On all accounts with them, I was fully insured and my insurance information was given to them, yet they failed to file it on date of service XX/XX/15 and Ive received no correspondence/bill from them period on any of the accounts they claim they have against me and have reported to credit bureaus. After speaking with them today, there are allegedly two other dates of service that havent been turned over to collection that Ive never received a bill for. It isnt my fault they didnt file an insurance claim for the XX/XX/2015 date of service when I was fully insured with XXXX of AR and I shouldnt be responsible for the amount they are claiming I owe. Nor have I ever received a bill from them regarding ANY charges they claim are my responsibility.

I just became aware - only because I got a free credit report in response to ANOTHER correction - that I have a negative report that I have never heard of. I have never heard of this company or their " client '' and I have never received any kind of bill from them or other communication. The company is Credit Control.
