1. Credit Associates of Maui , Ltd. ( CAML ) failed to provide correct balance due and proof of calculations. Disputing the balance on my account. Requested proof of calculations many times via phone calls and letters from XXXX to include certified mail and return receipt dated XXXX/XXXX/XXXX. I received no response ( phone calls or letters ) from CAML. They failed to provide verification of amount due. Violation of XXXX XXXX XXXX ( XXXX ) ( A ) and Hawaii FDCPA XXXX. 2. CAML mailed personal information ( dated XXXX/XXXX/XXXX ) to wrong employer. ( Improper handling ). CAML continued to mail personal information to wrong employer ( dated XXXX/XXXX/XXXX ) after my employer notified CAML in writing not to send any personal related information to their office. ( This XXXX mail was forwarded to my employer from the wrong employer ). ( For clarification purposes, I work for the XXXX and XXXX collection notices were sent to the wrong XXXX ). Violation of XXXX XXXX XXXX ( a ) ( XXXX ). 3. CAML involved in deceptive practices/ inefficient internal procedures. CAML did not make fair attempts to contact me that my automatic payments from my checking account would be terminated ( the initial agreement states that " ... this authorization shall remain in effect until the balance is paid in full or company receives written notification from m of any intent to terminate this payment plan ... '' ). My checking account is still open and has always had funds for the automatic payments to continue. There was no reason for CAML to stop these automatic payments from my checking account other than increasing payments without my consent and/or mutual agreement.

Debt collector, Credit Associates of Maui, representative XXXX, violated the fair debt collection practices act ( FDCPA ) on XX/XX/2019 at XXXX and again at XXXX ( HST ) by calling from a restricted number. I called their office and confirmed on their recorded line, with the receptionist, and with XXXX, that they had called me from a restricted number in violation of the FDCPA. It was indicated to me that the employee/caller had no control over the companys phone system, so this appears to be a company directive, not an individual choice, to call from a restricted number. During the call I indicated that an item had been returned and the alleged creditor had discharged any amount owed and had indicated so to me. XXXX confirmed with XXXX XXXX that the item was returned and credited but said there was a late fee due of {$36.00}. I called XXXX XXXX, who again confirmed that the item had been returned and that their was a fee imposed by XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, not XXXX XXXX, a fee charged despite the debt collector indicating on a recorded line that they did not own the debt. Therefore XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX has no standing to impose a late fee of their own on a settled debt that they didnt own. Such a fee would be a violation of 18 USC, specifically known as collection of extensions of credit by extortionate means. This intention is clear as Credit Associates of Maui/Hawaii blocks their number when calling -possibly because they may be involved in illegal activity. The CFPB has a responsibility to enforce consumer law as mandated by the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act.

Contacted Credit Associates of XXXX in order to make a lump sum payment on the debt that I had with them. Spoke to a woman named XXXX who said that I could settle two of the accounts I had with them for amounts that were slightly less than what was owed. I asked XXXX if this would clear my obligation with them and was told that it would I also asked if I could receive a receipt regarding the transaction via mail or email which I provided to her the time of the conversation. I asked when I would see the removal of this from my credit to which I was told it would be posted on XX/XX/XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX I left a message for XXXX requesting a receipt as I had still not received it but received no reply. I called again on XX/XX/XXXX and got connected to her to which I was told she would have an " XXXX '' send the receipt to my email which I never received. After checking my credit on XX/XX/XXXX I discovered that the supposedly discounted amounts that XXXX had given me on XX/XX/XXXX were reported to the credit bureau as derogatory and a collection/charge off debt owed which was not something that was disclosed by XXXX when the debt was collected. I called to speak to the supervisor and have yet to receive a call back. I have been unable to get any correspondence from them to date and was falsely led to believe that the amount I paid would settle the debt that I had with them which is a direct violation of the FDCPA which states that debt collectors can not use any false, deceptive, or misleading representation to collect the debt.

On XX/XX/2022 I received a phone call from XXXX XXXX at Credit Associates of Hawaii, a company I was unfamiliar with. I called back and was told I owed a debt that I did not know I owed. XXXX said she would forward me the information. Our conversation did not contain 1006.34 ( c ) ( 2 ) information or even all of 1006.34 ( c ) ( 1 ) information. A few days later, I received a letter postmarked XX/XX/2022 that did not follow 1006.34 ( c ) ( 3 ). Then I received a letter postmarked XX/XX/2022, but dated XX/XX/2022 enclosing an accounting of a debt with which I was not completely familiar. I assumed the company was not legitimate. On XX/XX/2022, I received notice that the company had sent derogatory marks to the credit bureaus despite not having sent confirming notice. I called on XX/XX/2022 to speak with XXXX about coming to a resolution/payment agreement and also about removing the mark as they had not followed procedure. She told me she could not do that. When I asked to speak with someone who could, she said she would have someone contact me, but I was not able to get a name or timeframe for that call. I would still like to negotiate a payment plan and have the mark removed.

I was contacted mid last year from a random number that would not advise what company they were calling from until I verified myself. I did not because based off of the fair collections act they have to introduce themselves. I then disconnected the line. I later in the year reviewed my credit report and found a collection from XXXX XXXX. I called them and asked what it was about and why they had not contacted me, the account agent then said he did. I then recognized his voice as the person who did not want to say what company he was representing. He then advised that he did not have to say the company until I verified myself, which I knew was not the case. I later advised his supervisor or my issues, who said they would review and no one got back to me. He advised that they are supposed to say the name. I paid the debt because he advised he would handle the issues. All calls are recorded is what they said and they would review. I called today and requested the same supervisor and was transferred to the agent who again stated he only told me his name and not the company. I left a voicemail for the supervisor.

Credit associates of Hawaii sent me a collection of {$380.00} for Hawaii XXXX XXXX. They sent a collection letter naming myself and my emergency contact from my storage application. I called Credit associates of Hawaii demanding that my emergency contact be removed from correspondence, and that they furnish proof of the debt, as I had already received a letter from the storage facility claiming that my ( empty ) storage units were being auctioned off. I have never received any proof of the debt, invoices, or any such information from Credit associates of Hawaii. The only thing that I received from them was an additional collection letter for {$960.00}. There are now 2 collections on my credit report, and I have yet to receive proof of debt or any sort of invoice indicating the amounts that they claim I owe.
