In XX/XX/XXXX I made an agreement with CESI XXXX to consolidate and pay off 3 of my credit cards. They started making payments on my behalf until XX/XX/XXXX when I was told that all XXXX cards were paid off. Sometime in the spring of XXXX I started receiving letters from the XXXX XXXX XXXX stating that I owed {$1300.00} on a credit card from XXXX XXXX XXXX which was one of the credit cards that was supposed to have been paid off by CESI XXXX. I have spoke to CESI XXXX numerous times and they assured me that the debt was paid. They sent me a summary of all the payments ( Attach A ) they made stating that the balance they got from my credit report in XXXX was {$550.00} and since the card only had a {$400.00} limit, the collection agency ( XXXX ) was mistaken. Satisfied with this explanation I ignored the letters thinking it was some sort of scam. Around XX/XX/XXXX I started receiving letters from XXXX XXXX XXXX regarding the same XXXX XXXX XXXX debt. I requested my credit report from XXXX, XXXX and XXXX and all 3 said I did owe this amount ( Attach B ). I called CESI and they again assured me the debt was paid and they offered to send the list of payments they made to XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX with check numbers and dates the checks were cleared to prove that the debt was paid ( Attach F ). I called XXXX to tell them I was disputing the debt and that CESI would fax them proof of the payments made to the account. XXXX claims they never received the fax even though CESI claims they sent it several times and received confirmations that it went through. I also called XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX to request information about the balance because I didn't understand how a card with a {$400.00} limit could carry a balance of {$1300.00}. They said they couldn't give me any information because the account was closed and sold into collections and the collection agency would have all that information. When I called XXXX to get a detailed summary of how the balance had grown to such a large amount they just sent another copy of the same statements I had already been getting for several months ( Attach C, D & E ). Lastly I asked CESI if they had a copy of the agreement they made with XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX regarding the monthly payment amounts they would accept as part of my consolidation and CESI told me no. I only asked this because when I looked closer at my credit report the amount listed as the scheduled payment each month is much higher than the amount listed as the payment made ( Attach G & H ). I suspect this may be the problem but I can not get any more information from XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX or XXXX and CESI insists they are not at fault.
