On XXXX XXXX, I replied to an email sent to me by Compass Recovery Group. They claim to be trying to collect a debt for XXXX XXXX XXXX, another debt collector. Who claims they purchased my debt in XXXX of XXXX. I requested proof of ORIGINAL CONTRACT WITH WET SIGNATURE and payment history. As well as requesting for them to cease emailing me. Today, XX/XX/XXXX, I received a copy of a contract, a payment history, a letter that they claimed was sent on XXXX XXXX, and a copy of an old driver 's license of mine. There are several things wrong here, that go against consumer law and my rights as a consumer. Starting with the contract provided me, the amount of debt is inaccurate, as well as the computerized signature. Reading the top left corner of the contract, it states that I initiated this loan over the phone. I do admit that I did initiate a loan with the original creditor in XX/XX/XXXX, IN PERSON, in which I made payments on. This is the original contract I requested. I do not know where this new contract came from. I didn't request to extend the loan by {$500.00} over the phone, as stated. The number of total payments increased, and the overall interest payment is also inaccurate. The information provided on the application has been added through running a credit report, not by my giving the information. As the real estate information is inaccurate as well as other information. My rights to privacy were also violated by this collection agency sending a copy of my driver 's license via mail, as I have been a victim of identity theft and have noted this, in previous complaints. When it comes to collection practices, it appears that there are 3 different collections agencies trying to collect this inaccurate debt. I have received emails from another company, by the name of XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, that initiated the emails in XXXX of this year. So, I am uncertain how COMPASS RECOVERY GROUP acquired this account from XXXX XXXX XXXX, who claims they purchased the account in XXXX of XXXX. Last but not least, I did not receive initial written notice that my original debt with sold to anyone. According to the law, I am to be notified at least five days before ; in writing. It sems impossible to receive accurate information, as there appears to be 3 collections agencies trying to collect different amounts, none of which are what I signed a contract agreeing to.

In XX/XX/XXXX I took a loan out for {$2500.00} from XXXX. I later found out that they amount of the loan was in violation of XXXX Law and contested the debt. I made no payments past XX/XX/XXXX. I have received 3 calls from a woman stating her name is XXXX XXXX with Compass Recovery Group ( XXXX ) XXXX though I have been unable to obtain any information about this company. She is attempting to collect on a debt but has failed to identify herself as a debt collector 3 times. In addition, I was not living in XXXX when the loan was taken out but she states the new owner of the debt ; XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX Phone : ( XXXX ) XXXX Fax : ( XXXX ) XXXX Email : XXXX CRCP # XXXX CPRC # XXXX is attempting to sue in that state though when I check to see if a suit has been filed none has. There are 2 issues then ; 1. The statute of limitations has passed ( I believe ) and 2. violation of the FDCPA ( 15 USC 1692d ( 6 ) ) failure to fully disclose and ( 15 USC 1692e ( 11 ) ) failure to divulge they are calling as a debt collector. Furthermore, XXXX XXXX stated Compass is the " legal side '' rather than that they are a debt collector which is false and misleading, a violation of 15 U.S. Code 1692e ( A ), ( B ), ( 3 ), ( 10 ), ( 11 ) and ( 14 ).

They CRG ( Compass Recovery Group ) referred them as a lawyer not collection agency. I have not received notice of due charges. It has been 3 1/2 years and out of the blue a phone call was made claiming I owed XXXX XXXX {$3400.00}. They said I had made all previous payment on time and they did not understand why this problem occurred. They XXXX ( XXXX XXXX ) closed the account and sold it to XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ( XXXX XXXX XXXX ) who are not debt collectors. XXXX XXXX XXXX hire debt collectors to handle the case. Now I receive calls pressing to pay this item ( {$3400.00} ) and wanting me to pay and have the matter closed. I have payoff many accounts when illnesses where detected, but never received a letter from XXXX or they would have been paid off long ago. Also is legal for them to try work this out with my wife and I was not a party of. I am a XXXX year old XXXX XXXX vet suffering from XXXX XXXX, XXXX, XXXX XXXX which required XXXX to XXXX, and XXXX XXXX XXXX. This is very stressful which leads to any therapy to not work as well as it should. I feel this a deceptive means of handling this matter. I request a message regarding these matters be sent through US Mail to : XXXX XXXX XXXX. XXXX, PA XXXX.

This is not my debt, I am NOT the account holder- Over the last year, this company has called me 8 times on my cell, and 4 times on my landline. They ask for me by full name, but then say are trying to contact a XXXX XXXX and ask for any contact info for her. I do not know this person. First they claimed she was my mother and that I had to tell them where she was because she owed them a lot of money. I informed them that was not my mother 's name, not even close, and then they said " oh well she is related to you somehow so you need to tell us where she is so we can collect the debt ''. Again, I informed them that I do not know anyone by that name, and just because someone shares a last name, doesnt mean they are 'related somehow ' so stop calling. They didn't. I blocked thier number and then they started calling from a new number. They won't stop. I don't have what they want-I don't know any XXXX ( an old co-worker, but he was a man and his last name was XXXX, so that can't be who they arecalling about ). I thought maybe this was happening if my credit was stolen or something, but nothing odd is on my reports, so why are they harrassing me about a stranger 's debt? How is this allowed?

On Friday XX/XX/XXXX while I was at work I received a call from a very unexpected person. A women who identifies herself as XXXX XXXX called her and told her that she was looking for me in regards to a legal matter. See what Ms. XXXX did was she contacted a 3rd party relative from my fathers family in which I have no affiliation or relationship with due to personal/family matters. Later that day this person Ms.. XXXX shared my personal information with had told another family member everything this so called detective told her. XXXX told her she was a detective working on behalf of XXXX county looking for me in regards to very serious legal matters. When MsXXXX called me this morning XX/XX/XXXX at XXXX this morning she lied several times which raised my suspicion about her credibility and how she handled matters. She was not honest about the location of her office and she also lied about the terms of the settlement. She declined that she was a debt collector and she said that she is a firm representative for the company which she would not disclose the name for which she was representing. When I asked for documentation such as a validation notice she Failed to make that accessible to me

On XX/XX/ 2019, a representative from Compass Recovery Group contacted my son and left a message on his cell phone with an XXXX number for me to call them. When i called this number, I was surprised to see it was a collection agency. The woman i spoke with did not verify me by name, address, DOB or give me a Mini Miranda warning. She also did not tell me how much the debt was. After I explained my financial situation and living arrangements ( I'm out of work on Worker 's Comp and receiving NO benefits ; I live with my elderly mother and care for her. She is on a fixed income ), she kept insisting I ask my family or friends to help pay this debt. She then stated they would just turn it over to another associate and get a judgement. I told her to go ahead. I have no dispute with my owing it. What I have an issue with is the direct violation of the FDCPA. I recently worked in collections and I know the laws. There is also a HIPPA violation with this woman not verifying me and disclosing sensitive information. A debt collector may also not leave messages.

I received a phone call yesterday XXXX from CRG representative who stated the she was calling let me know that I was being sued and that she had information regarding the current lawsuit with XXXX county court of collections or something of that nature. I asked who was calling and she we are with court regarding a lawsuit filed against by credit one. She asked me if I knew about the lawsuit I said no. She then told me about my history with card, I then said to her just to let you know this call is being recorded. She then hurried up and said, that this was an attempt to collect a debt. When I told her she violated my rights by threatening, and abusive behavior she lied and said she never said anything about an active lawsuit. I then told her that was against the law and I would file suit, she would take me off of the list. I then asked for the companies name, and address and she refused to give it to me. I then repeatedly asked for a supervisor and she gave me the information but I'm not sure if the information she gave was correct.

The company contacted me and left a message instructing me or my legal counsel to contact them immediately. I have not received any written correspondence about debt from this company, and they did not identify the phone call as an attempt to collect a debt. To my knowledge and according to my credit report as of XX/XX/2020 I do not owe any debt in collections or otherwise. The company, Compass Recovery Group, has a number of complaints on the XXXX XXXX XXXX detailing my exact scenario, with other people confirming they insinuated they'd be sued/imprisoned for not paying the unvalidated or already paid debt. They have also had people call consumers from an unlisted number, thus rendering it untraceable, to pretending to be process servers coming to serve papers at either their residence or job. Further, they have called me daily multiple times a day from various spoofed numbers from area codes in my state attempting to get me to call their ( XXXX number which is linked to an unverifiable location in XXXX, New York.

For the last two years, I have been receiving phone calls from the following number ( XXXX ) XXXX ; the caller identified himself as a debt collector calling from Compass Recovery Group. They have NEVER send me any letter or document explaining to me the debt that they claim I owe. My understanding that Federal Law requires them to send me a letter within five days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, creditor 's name and the amount of the alleged debt! Recently, they started using unlawful and illegal tactics. On XX/XX/XXXX, my sister received a call at XXXX XXXX from them. They told her that they need to reach me for a legal matter and that I am being sued ( attached please see snapshot from my sister 's phone and a record of the call on her mobile 's usage information ).

I received a call from a Mr. XXXX stating he had a claim that was filed in his office with Compass Group and that he would prefer I call him back to speak with me and find out what was going on before he filed anything through my home county. He left a phone number and case file number to reference. At no point did the caller identify himself as being a debt collector and made it appear that they were a legal organization with plans to file suit on a complaint against me. I only found this was a collector through searching the company name online. I do not have this listed on my credit report from any debt so it must be an old debt if it is legitimate at all. I did not speak with the individual. This information was left on my personal cell phone voicemail.

I'm a XXXX XXXX and live on a very limited income ( mainly XXXX ). Most of my bills are medical related and are typically paid in small chunks or by my health insurance. Compass Recovery Group has been harassing me for months and now my aging mother about a debt that I dont owe. They say I owe one .... and when I tell them my situation and that I can not pay, they have threatened to take legal actions against me. When my mother has spoken to these people, they refused to give her any information about the matter or the company. Fortunately, she didn't give them any information about me except that she would pass the message along to me.

Compass Recovery Group called every member of my family, after they were previously asked to not contact anyone but me. From XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, Compass contacted both of my siblings and both of my parents. They proceeded to call my employer. They then called me on my work phone and a female manager threatened to garnish my wages and pursue legal action against me. This all happened because I was struggling financially after a car accident and could not afford the biweekly payments for a few weeks. They called me every single day, multiple times a day on multiple different phone numbers, harassing me since mid XXXX.

I keep getting calls from XXXX XXXX with Compass Recovery Group. The voicemails sound like a recording. The numbers she's called from are XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX and XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. In the recordings, she says to call back at XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. She doesn't reference what creditor or account she's calling in regards to. I also, got an email from XXXX ( see email attachment ) that has a link to a debt settlement but no other account information is listed to show what debt this is referring to. I don't know if this is a scam or not and I would like CFPB to do an investigation on my behalf.

They called many members of my family and friends. Telling them that I am delinquent and my house is going to have a lien put on it. this went on for many months. Telling many people about this situation. After they contacted my father. I called her and she advised she was with legal, and she wants to stop a litigation. Which I have received no information on. She said they will put a lien on my home. This credit is not on my credit report. I was very scared, so I paid it. Yet now I know there was no debt, and very illegal for what they did. My credit report did not even change.

On XX/XX/2021 Compass recovery group called my girlfriend, and have previously sent collection attempts to an address I have not lived at for over XXXX years. The collector announced himself as working for Compass recovery group and pestered her for information as to my contact information during her work day.
