My student loan has been transferred to various lenders. I have been trying to find out the history of where my loans ordinated, and who " touched '' it along the process. For over 5 years I have had collection companies call me wanting me to aggressively pay the debt or go into a rehabilitation program and could have 5 dollar monthly payments, yet they will tack on additional 3 grand for their fees. So I 'm in debit and can only pay 5 a month, yet they get to add on 3 grand more. Most recently I have been dealing with XXXX/College Assist. Here are my complaints and have audio phone calls to support my claims. Companies miss represented themselves to me throughout the process. College AssistXXXX would never allow me to talk directly to them. I asked multiple times for information of my loan about where was it, who had it or even give me a financial balance statement since its conception. Company sent me financial document via email to me that was not mine, which causes concern of credibility and I believe it violates Electronic Communication Act of 1986 ( ECP ) 18 U.S.C. 2510-22 This last Credit Recovery Company XXXX in XXXX states they are a Government Acency, but they are a Credit Collection Company. Not part of the USA Government. As a result of College Assist/XXXX practices, I have accrued over {$1800.00} in extra interest and {$2800.00} in recovery fees. One credit company XXXX XXXX did not respond to my letter stating that I disputed the claim and XXXX failed to respond and " sat '' on my loan for over 12 months. There are many other deceptive practices that have happened. I do have recorded phone calls with these various credit collection companies to document their false claims and deceptive practices. I am in the process of hiring a transcriber for these calls. For presentation in my case. I also have other written communications to Credit Companies and they failed to respond or act on my inquiries Federal Student Aid website says College Assist owns my loan. They are then acting With XXXX ... but XXXX has turned over the loan collection to XXXX. See above complaint. XXXX has totally violated my rights. Lastly..I looked at my credit report and shows XXXX Student Loan has been reporting to the credit since XX/XX/XXXX as negative. So who is this company now??? Now do you see why I have n't been able to get any reliable information and support to rectify my student loan delema? Who really owns my loan???? XXXX College Assist XXXX Since XX/XX/XXXX my loan went from XXXX to now XXXX!!!!!! PLEASE HELP ... ..PLEASE HELP ... .WHAT AM I TO DO??? College AssistXXXX has started the Garnishment process ... ..

I have XXXX Stafford unsubsidized student loans from XXXX that originated under XXXX, XXXX of which has been passed on to College Assist and is now in collections. They claim that the loan is in default because their information says that I stopped going to school in XX/XX/XXXX or XX/XX/XXXX ( not sure ). As far as I know they are going to do the same with the XXXX loan as well. - I was in school continually from XXXX XXXX to XXXX XXXX, and I can provide documents to prove this - All my other student loans have either been or are now in - grace period, forbearance, or deferment - to this day - Not in any of their letters did XXXX or College Assist identify which specific loan they were referring to in terms I could correlate and distinguish from my other loans - When College Assist informed me by letter of their intentions to take legal action, the date of the letter was XXXX/XXXX/XXXX, and it said I had 10 days to contact them. When I did call XXXX/XXXX/XXXX I was informed I was too late and the loan had already gone into collections - There is a pattern of deception and disregard for my rights in their correspondence and actions - I sent them a certified letter stating this information on XXXX XXXX XXXX and requested they call the loan back from collections and allow them to be included with the others in forbearance or deferment. I never received a reply to the letter - They are now withholding income from my paycheck, which I discovered only through my employer. I was not served or allowed to defend the issue in court, nor have I had the means to do so at any time To reiterate ; part of the reason I did not react sooner to the letters from XXXX/College Assist was because never once did they identify the loan ( s ) in question with a comprehensible account #, original loan amount, or original loan date, making it beyond my capacity to know which of my XXXX loans they were referring to. My first inclination was to believe it was a scam. I am taking action now through CFPB because I only just discovered its existence, as I previously thought I had no resources to fight this issue. I believe I have a right to have both these loans in forbearance/deferment along with my other XXXX loans. Can you please advise on what action I can take? The loans in question : - XXXX - XXXX/XXXX/XXXX {$3000.00} original amount, XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, CO - XXXX - XXXX/XXXX/XXXX {$4500.00} original amount, XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, CO ( this is the one in being collected on ) Thank you.

To Whom It May Concern, I NEED YOUR HELP! I 've been unemployed/underemployed and struggling from XXXX XXXX until XXXX XXXX when I secured a job as a XXXX XXXX at XXXX XXXX XXXX School. I served this country honorably in the XXXX XXXX for eight years and never shirked my responsibilities to this nation. I was forced into bankruptcy and was terribly disturbed that I defaulted on my obligations ; however, I attempted my very best to work with my creditors. As I 've been digging myself out of the deepest hole of my life coming from a place where I lived out of my car for six months, I started to turn the corner. Teachers already struggle to make a living because there is n't any value in the educators of this nation. I submitted my education deferments for my student loans every year. My mortgage is due at the XXXX of each month. Recently, I discovered a company that I 've never heard of garnished my check which caused me to default on my mortgage and now I 'm under the threat of becoming homeless. This company : XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX ( XXXX ) XXXX Account # XXXX This company on behalf of XXXX/COLLEGE ASSIST ( a company I 'm unaware of its existence ) filed legal paperwork without informing me or serving notice and just received a court order to garnish my check. College Assist contracts with the XXXX XXXX XXXX , XXXX ( XXXX ), for the collection of outstanding student loans. Apparently, College Assist does not screen its contractors, nor does it maintain any quality control over its contractor 's work. Recently I received a letter from XXXX stating that it was attempting to collect {$58.00} on an outstanding student loan that it claims I have with College Assist. The correspondence indicated that I could dispute the alleged debt, which I did. On XXXX XXXX, 2016, XXXX responded to the dispute with a letter stating that it was attaching " additional documents related to your account. '' When I reviewed the documents, it became apparent that XXXX mixed up my documents with that of another borrower, and that XXXX gave me documents that contained that borrower 's personal identifying information, including social security number, driver 's license number, date of birth, and financial history. Due to the sensitive nature of the documents received, I will not attach them to this complaint, but will provide them only in response to follow-up communication with this Bureau. Because my documents were not included in the correspondence, and because it appears that XXXX intentionally/recklessly sent personal identifying information to the wrong person, I can only assume that XXXX also provided my documents, containing my personal identifying information, to another person not authorized to receive it. Such behavior demonstrates that lack of any quality control on the part of XXXX and upon College Assists in the supervision of its contactors.

XXXX, College Assist had XXXX contact me about a student loan that was consolidate through XXXX. During tax time, College Assist had department of the treasury, forward my federal tax return to them. Once I found out, I call College Assist, and they said it was an ERROR on their part, and my refund will be issue back to me. Now, XXXX tax year, they have once again are trying to collect for a account was already paid to them from XXXX Once again, they have taking my tax return. Once again, I 'm having to send proof that the account was paid off. XXXX, has closed my account, but then College Assist had ECMC make a request to gain my return, plus ask me for more money. The account in question is the same account that was paid from XXXX. XXXX has also talked to about the accounts, and verify all College Assist accounts under my name are Paid. I feel College Assist is trying to get double paid for accounts, and making false complaints that they have not been payment. Once I prove they have been paid, they get another collection company to try to get me to pay an account they know it have been paid. They also, are not helpful when it comes to proving the accounts have been unpaid, and do n't accept documents via fax or email that will prove the account was paid. They say send it via mail or fax, but some of their employees say different. Sounds very unprofessional. Their ethics, and tactics for consumer service is terrible.

While attending XXXX school at XXXX @ XXXX I was pressured by fellow students, professors and media to consolidate my loans. I consolidated my student loans with XXXX with the understanding my interest rate of less than 3.8 % would be locked in and garunteed not to climb. Upon receiving the first statement, I found XXXX already broke the contract. I paid my loan until all my savings was depleted and I was no longer able to pay. My earnings are not enough to provide beyond basic survival. My loans were sold to College Assist, XXXX XXXX, and XXXX. Through college Assist I was offered a rehabilitation program for {$5.00} per month for 12 months to remove my loans from default status. When looking over the agreement I discovered I will be charged over {$30000.00} for the service.. This sort of fee is crippling on top of an already insurmountable figure considering my place in a ruined economy. The loan is increased by around {$100.00} a WEEK. I am being extorted. I find no offering of IBR, deferment or forbearance offered. My requests went Un acknowledged by all contacted listed by the company. I 'm left with this rehabilitation program where I would be paying {$30000.00} plus approximately {$7.00} daily more as my only option of repayment.

I started out owing at the time of my graduation in XX/XX/XXXX around {$38.00} to XXXX in student loans and was unable to pay the debt as I was recently divorced and raising a child making XXXX a year and XXXX wouldn't do anything to help with the payment. I was offered forbearance which didn't last and was forced into collections in mid XX/XX/XXXX under the loan rehab program which I was barely able to pay while being a single parent and finalizing my divorce. In an effort to keep my head above water due to lack of decent paying jobs in my area I continued to put my loans in forbearance and no mention of any other ways to receive any assistance from XXXX only threats to pay or be taken to collections and have my taxes garnished. And over time in XX/XX/XXXX my credit has been poor from these loans and lack of decent paying jobs which I went to school for my loans went from $ XXXX in XX/XX/XXXX ' to owing $ XXXX in XX/XX/XXXX of this year. I have looked into IBR but to have a nearly $ XXXX bump in interest from one month is egregious. And XXXX and it's associates college assist should be investigated for nefarious collection practices and interest hikes on student loans.

i have been trying to get my student loan out of default, i was promised that the default paperwork would be completed by the end of XX/XX/2018. I tried for three weeks to get someone to send me the paperwork stating my account is no longer in default, i have been to NSLDS to check the status of my defaulted student loans and the status is still the same. Every time i contact XXXX XXXX its the same, you wait on the line for 10-15 minutes with no response, or someone answers and then places you on a call to tell you that they will need to call back, or they promise to call back with an update. All i want is to have the student loan status moved out of default because i completed making payments for the 9 months required. I have been paying out of pocket for school and want to place my loans in deferment. XXXX XXXX keeps trying going back and forth and making excuses, telling me that i need to sign another rehabilitation agreement, they've told me that i never signed one and once i send them what i have they tell me that one is the correct one. I'm not sure why something so simple has turned into a nightmare with no able to help or resolve issues.

Years ago I defaulted on my student loan and before I could resolve the issue it was transferred to a collection agency. Since then, I have written numerous letters to the many different collection agencies requesting detailed information regarding the loan and fees. Each time this is done, the loan is again sold to another company. Sometimes, there was XXXX different companies trying to collect at the same time. In fact, XXXX attempted to garnish at the same time. I finally received a response from XXXX XXXX saying they would obtain the documentation and forward it XX/XX/2016. I just received a letter XX/XX/2016 from College Assist saying they sent me a notice on behalf of the XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX regarding retaining federal tax refunds and that they would be offset. I have not had any contact with that collection agency in over two years!!!!! It has been sold numerous times since then and I have kept all correspondence with these companies. How am I to blindly resolve this debt without any documentation? Am I to believe what the tenth in line collection agency is requesting?

My wife and I have been paying our student loans through XXXX. Around XXXX or XXXX, our loans were no longer serviced by XXXX. My loan went back to my original lender and we were never informed to where my wife 's loan went. As a result her loan went into default because we did not know who to make payments to. Her loan went into default and we were able to get it out of default within a year. Unfortunately our XXXX tax return I believe went straight to the student loan due to being in default. We are tying to get an accounting to see where the money went. If it did go towards our student loan? and if it did, Why is our student loan still high? were there other ridiculous fees added on? We've been trying to contact XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX , College Assist, and XXXX XXXX XXXX who were all involved. But they seem to be " passing the buck '' to each other. In Summary : 1. Where did my tax return money go to? approx {$7000.00} or {$9000.00}, I'll double check 2. If it did go to my student loan, ... Why hasn't my Total amount significantly decreased?

Ive had severe issues with the student loan process for at least 10 years. An on going fraudulence has occurred on my student loans which I believe started with identity theft. Im unable to get resolution and require legal assistance. Ive contact every department related to my claims & accounts for the past 3 years. I only get people taking my personal & private information and telling me to pay up or else! No one will actually help me. They defaulted my loans. Triple the loan amounts for no reason. Change servicing companys often. I need them to stop harassing me. Stop garnishing my wages. Stop taking my tax returns that are ONLY CHILD TAX CREDITS. Stop ruining my credit so I cant even have a place to live. The lenders dont answer the phone. I called XXXX XXXX to inform them of how the loan was being processed and was transferred three times. What is that about!?! Sounds like a problem! I HAVE ALREADY COMPLAINED TO YOU! I have already filed complaints. I have already been in this loop of shame!

Currently, my wife and I live below the Federal threshold for poverty. College Assist ( XXXX XXXX, MN ) has consistently refused to allow me to resume payments on my outstanding student loans by repayment based upon income ( Income-based repayment agreement ). At this time, they are offsetting my Social Security payments and forcing us to discontinue vital and necessary medications. My job as a Florida XXXX XXXX does not pay enough for us to make " standard and required '' payments. College Assist is nothing more than a collection agency or contractor hired by the Federal Department of Education to harass and intimidate Federal student loan borrowers who are unable to repay their loans at the " required minimum payment level. '' If it were financially feasible, I would engage a local attorney in order to deal with this collection agency. Unfortunately, there really is no " third-party arbitrator '' available to deal with situations such as this.

I have requested for years for written proper documentation showing a balance owed and haven't received nothing so I could pursue my options of either paying off amount owed or contacting a debt consolidation to help resolve or file a Chapter XXXX or Chapter XXXX Bankruptcy.

They are trying again in XX/XX/XXXXand I 've sent paper work to them twice that they have released me from withholding already but my employer says the will have to withhold if XXXX does not contact them to straighten this out.

I checked my credit reports to find that College Assist sent my account to collections without notifying me, and reported that my bill was past due as of XX/XX/2018. I never received a bill from them after filing bankruptcy. I AM not aware of the total balance, or a past due date. They would not speak to me about the balance during the bankruptcy, which is the law, but there was no correspondence once the bankruptcy was discharged. How can my account be past due if they never sent a bill? I want it off of my credit report. And I'm fully aware that XXXX, the company with the account now, is not the one that takes it off.
