XX/XX/XXXX : -I received a letter stating that a judgment was filed against me for a car dispute with XXXX car rental. I had no prior knowledge about this judgment. This was the first time hearing about this " default judgment '' of {$1100.00}. I had rented a car from XXXX in XXXX and settled a dispute over a minor scratch on the rented vehicle. - As directed in the judgment letter, I contacted the lawyer using the number listed on the letter ( XXXX ) XXXX. The receptionist on the line seemed confused about my case number, and when requested to speak to XXXX XXXX XXXX I was transferred to XXXX XXXX, the Office XXXX. I asked XXXX XXXX how to confirm XXXX XXXX was a lawyer and she told me to " XXXX him ''. I also asked how to look up where this judgment was filed and she said she didn't know that information. She told me I had to pay or a judgment would be submitted. However, the letter indicates that a " default judgment was entered against [ me ] in favor of our XXXX XXXX, XXXX in the amount of {$1100.00} ''. She requested I pay over the phone or send a check or money order. If I paid over the phone I would have to record my credit card number. I was unsure at this point if this was a scam so I said I would send a check in a month. - After this call, I located XXXX XXXX XXXX 's bar association number and contact information. I called him to confirm he had filed a judgment against me or would if I didn't pay. During our conversation, he said that had received multiple calls about similar judgment letters, that he was not associated with the contact information listed on the address, and that this company was using his name without his permission on these judgment letters. I emailed him the judgment letter on XX/XX/XXXX to confirm he is not associated with the " case ''. He responded on XX/XX/XXXX stating there is no judgment " as far as he knows '' against me and that he requested the judgment file from the office XXXX XXXX is associated with. He also directed me to ignore the letter until this can be confirmed. - Using the legal support team through my employer, I explained the aforementioned events. I was advised not to pay and to check my credit to ensure no judgments had been filed against me and to file a fraud report. - I checked my credit report with the XXXX credit bureaus to confirm a judgment was not filed against me. As of XX/XX/XXXX, no judgments have been filed against me as reported by the XXXX credit bureaus. XX/XX/XXXX : - I was contacted by the email from XXXX XXXX from the email address XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX. The email requested the full amount and was signed by XXXX XXXX and stated they previously called me to collect this money.

On XX/XX/2023 I was contacted by a XXXX XXXX who claimed to be an attorney. She said I had provided my credit card information to someone else months earlier and she wanted to use the same credit card to pay another debt. I told her I wasnt aware of any other debt - that I should not have any because I have health insurance that pays 100 % and I have no deductible. She said its for your mental health treatment. I do not have any treatment for mental health and never have. It is completely out of line for her to say things like that. It would be a violation of HIPAA. I vaguely remember being contacted about a {$150.00} medical bill many months ago and I just paid it because I was buying a house and didnt want to deal with it. But I told her I am unaware of any unpaid medical bills and very clearly told this woman that she did not have my permission to use my card- Im not sure why my credit card information was even retained beyond the one time I gave permission to use it - and provided to this XXXX person because I have never spoken to her before. I told her I was at work and would need information regarding the legitimacy of this and that she was not authorized to use my credit card for something I am not even aware of and that I am disputing as a result. She hung up on me and used my card anyway to process a payment. I called the number on my caller ID back and told her she did not have permission to use my card and I wanted it reversed immediately and she told me to call the police. I was hung up on again after she called me a XXXX. I called back and asked for the name and address of the company and was hung up on 8 times in a row.

I received a letter from " XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX. '' purporting to represent " XXXX ''. The letter is dated XXXX XXXX, 2016 and alleges that I owe {$1600.00}. The letter does not advise of an alleged initial loan amount, date of alleged loan, this office 's license to collect in my state, or any other identifying information about this alleged debt. This letter states that I have " ignored repeated demands for satisfaction of '' the debt, although this is the first letter I 've received from this office. The letter then unlawfully threatens me with " an additional cause of action '' and " significant increases ( of the alleged debt amount ) due to added costs and charges if additional ENFORCEMENT ( emphasis added ) is needed ''. This letter is threatening, falsely states that I have been previously contacted by this company, and provides me with no identifying information of what this alleged debt amount was initially or when I was ever contacted regarding the alleged debt. The letter further states that if information " furnished by ( me ) is determined to have been false, an additional cause of action may be instituted against ( me ). '' No information to which I am entitled by the FDCPA has been provided to me with this letter. Furthermore, there is no indication of the alleged original loan amount. In the state of Maine a payday lender may not charge interest on a loan per Maine 's XXXX Agency.

I received a letter dated XX/XX/2023 that threatened legal redress if I did not pay on a medical bill. The address of the lawyer is in a state I dont live in and have no history of doing any business in. I called the original doctors office to verify the debt, and learned that the amount listed on the letter has a fee of {$120.00} added on top of the original bill amount. I called the debt collection office and said I wanted to pay but only the original amount ; I dont think I should have to pay fees on medical debt. I spoke to 2 different women and they were very rude. They yelled at me, shamed me for not taking care of my business, refused to let me pay my original bill amount, and hung up on me.
