I received a letter stating that I may qualify for student loan consolidation and even some possible loan forgiveness. The letter seemed as if it were from the government which is why I called them. I called and they said I did qualify for loan consolidation but in order to get me into the program I must pay a certain percentage of what I owe. After telling them I did not have that amount they said I could do just 2 payments of {$400.00}. I was hesitant at first but then said ok. I gave them my information, including social, occupation, income, credit card number ( for the payment ), etc. Now after doing some research, it turns out I could 've enrolled in such a program without paying and now I am worried that I may have given my personal information to scammers.
