First let me preface this complaint with a history of how this all came to be. XX/XX/XXXX I completed paying off a Chapter XXXX bankruptcy, and received the final discharge in XX/XX/XXXX. Around XX/XX/XXXX I received notices from XXXX XXXX welcoming me back and reminding me of my student loan payments which would be starting up, and approximate payment, and if any changes in income let them know. So since my wife is in custodial care in a XXXX home and I am on fixed income of Social Security, Federal retirement, and 50 % XXXX XXXX. My wife 's income goes to the XXXX home. I filed the paperwork and waited to hear. In XX/XX/XXXX I received a phone call from someone named XXXX XXXX to talk about student loans and repayments. She appeared to have my records and did discussion of consolidation ( I was paying payments on loans which had been consolidated since XX/XX/XXXX, and my payments were up to date until I received forbearance and deferment. I said I do n't believe that was necessary but she told me oh, if we get your loans from XXXX then they reconsolidate them. Now, bear in mind I was under the impression I was talking to 'XXXX XXXX ' or XXXX XXXX. Then I was told they would take {$50.00} a month to handle paperwork or {$990.00} total. I did n't know if XXXX set this up, if something new, but I did n't want another bill on top of my student loans, since that would be one third of income and leave me stranded for rent and living expenses. So I paid with my debit card and noted " The Student Loan Help Center '' and they were adamant about me recording something about the payments. So then they emailed required documents and one which stood out was 'a limited power of attorney ' to allow them to handle my financial accounts to work out payments with XXXX XXXX XXXX I called my bankruptcy lawyer for advice and he called it a scam. I called XXXX XXXX and the rep told me to contact the XXXX Attorney General, and XXXX XXXX XXXXl, change my card, and notify my bank. Now, they granted provisional credit but said they had seen the merchant was in the right. Really? A phone call and payment suffices over a bank customer? I imagine they did as much checking as seeing any coffee left in the pot. So XXXX returned the provisional credit and they lived happily ever after. In the meantime, I want to know how this front cover for Brevis consulting had my student loan records. Were it not the timing of waiting on my bill from XXXX XXXX this company would have never gotten a dime. I have dealt with student loans since XX/XX/XXXX and no charges have ever been required. Even my consolidation fees were rolled over. The fact is, this is a third party organization fleecing people who believe they need help in taking care of student loans. At a cost. So I paid a hefty sum ( if you compare ratio of payment to debts ) and no recourse. The AGs will go blah, blah, blah, but nothing accomplished. I want to know how my records were obtained, sitting there and spewing off my accounts, doing a conciliation on loans that had already been done, and these people have n't done anything since they do n't know the first thing about forbearance, deferment, oh, and they sent my file for no payments. Well, if you have been public service ( I think Federal employees did plenty of public service ), but the point is you have to pay at least 10 years of payments before you qualify for forgiveness, point being these 3rd party personnel do not know what they need to know. So, basically, what money I managed to save, since I ca n't work with XXXX and XXXX XXXX, so I am limited. But these XXXX get to go about the business of taking advantage of charging people for something that is free.I want my money back, and I want those 3rd party shops closed. You try and pay your loans and these people come along, misrepresent themselves, and when accosted, it is like too bad!

Initially this company, The Student Loan Help Center sent numerous texts and calls throughout the day. What they had to say in the regards for consolidating my student loan sounded appealing. I was able to ignore them for quite a while, one day though I listened to what this man had to say, told him my sad, single-mom story and this guy convinced me that this was the thing to do. For next to nothing I can reduce and consolidate my loan and I had better hurry before the next president took office. Well, what can I say I am, was naive and did n't even think this nice man named XXXX would want to deceive a poor, hard working single mom. Well I was wrong and quite stupid. At first it would only cost around {$200.00} to get the whole process going. I reiterated that I absolutely could not afford that much. Oh, well was n't he nice he talked to his " supervisor '' and had it lowered to {$100.00}. Not only did I give him this money I could not afford to give him, it was for naught, the services the company offers do not cost anything. I understand I was not educated enough about loan consolidation, yet what line is there when it come 's to ethical practice? The company has you sign and notarize a legally binding form, mistake XXXX. I have never been asked to do that for any similar service and am now terrified that because of that mistake, what little money I do make will now be taken from my paycheck, sent to debt collections ... After I realized how I had been completely swindled I cancelled my checking account. They ( student loan help center ) attempted to extract money from the account, when it would n't go through I received a call, stating that fact. When I told them I would n't be paying, and could not in any way afford to pay what they wanted, the man started shouting, shouting at me to pay. Pay. Pay. Pay. I realize I am also at fault, yet when this company has copies of my pay stubs, and see 's how much I make, they should understand, I ca n't afford their particular services and in general it would be a very bad idea to enlist me, given my small income and living situation. My greatest concern, this company can and send this issue to debt collections and I will end up bankrupt because of an unethical and swindling company. Their practices, costumer service and hiding the truth advertising can get alot of folks like myself in more financial trouble than we already are. Not to mention the stress they bring about. Well, my small student loan is being consolidated, which is a free service, they were and are asking me for upwards of {$700.00}, knowing I can not afford that, it being almost what I make in a month. Sometimes I do n't even make that. There was an instance when they got ahold of me, pretending to be my loan consolidation company and once again said that I needed to pay an initial fee of {$400.00}, than an easy XXXX payments of {$29.00} a month. Upon talking to the real company they said that that is not XXXX of their practices. The final, laughable and ironic quality of this morally unjust company, when you call, a voice will come on saying 'thank you for calling the student loan help center, where ethics and integrity are important to us '.

I hired the company The Student Loan Help Center back at XX/XX/XXXX and started paying them for services to get my defaulted student loans in the forgiveness plan to get my XXXX loans out of default for a fee of {$1500.00}, stop the wage garnishments after 5 months, and consolidate my loans after all is said and done to restart a income based repayment in 10 months time. Since that time, I have paid about {$1100.00}, only talked to my case manager XXXX 3-4 times total, and never actually provided me with a service yet. Half of my interactions with her she came off as rude, like I was wasting get time by asking get about my account and told me in XX/XX/XXXX to not even call back until she called me about the process of my forgiveness because the process took a long time. She only attempted to get a hold of one if my loan companies that controlled XXXX of my loans and never contacted the other company that had the remaining XXXX loans. I finally heard from the help center for the first time since XX/XX/XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX about a payment, but since I had them on the phone, I got transferred to my case manager to get an update and she said they were having problems contacting the XXXX loan company. I started to doubt them, so I called that one loan company and got someone on the phone within minutes. They said the help center got in contact with them in XX/XX/XXXX, sent the power of attorney paper to them in XX/XX/XXXX, and that loan company had been attempting to reach my case manager since then, but they could never get in contact with anyone from the help center and gave up on XX/XX/XXXX. I tried to contact them on XX/XX/XXXX to confront them about why I they had still not started the 10 month loan forgiveness process, why they lied to me that the one loan company was not responding to them, and to try to cancel my service with them since they had not provided me with the services they claimed they would and I was told by my case manager that they will not let me cancel or provide me with any refund at all. She then got very motivated to try to help resolve my account right then, but I told her I just would like to cancel and try to go through my loan companies directly because I needed relief now and I could n't wait for them to actually provide me with the services I have been paying them for since XX/XX/XXXX. She tried to claim that I was refusing her assistance at that point and stated I was breaking their contact that I signed and if I do n't proceed with them that the rest of my service fee of about {$400.00} would eventually be sent to collections. This company makes you feel trapped and that their services are the only solution for your problems, but the actually do n't want you to know they are charging you way too much for a service that is actually free and not as hard as they make it appear to be.

I was charged XXXX by The Student Loan Help Center to act as my " Limited Power of Attorney '' in expediting the transfer of my debt from XXXX XXXX . My original understanding of what was to transpire, and why I was paying them {$990.00}, was they would be transferring my debt and I would then be paying them back my debt, rather than XXXX XXXX . Basically, refinancing my debt to The Student Loan Help Center. Once the process was completed my debt was transferred to XXXX XXXX . I started to make my new payments to XXXX XXXX and noticed my principle was not decreasing. I called XXXX XXXX and questioned the payment plan and inquired why my principal was n't deceasing. Through my conversation with XXXX XXXX I advised the representative I had paid {$990.00} to have my debt transferred to them. At which point he told me XXXX XXXX would never charge a client to have their debt transferred and " no one should be charged money for a service when it comes to federal loans. '' He recommended I reach out to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau to attempt to get my money back. He also advised not only should I not have been charged, but {$990.00} was completely unreasonable to have a help center fill out some paper work on your behalf and that XXXX XXXX would not have charged me anything. At this point I was shocked and outraged to know that I could have just gone through XXXX XXXX to begin with and not had to pay {$990.00} to basically have paperwork completed. I 've been through this process before when I refinanced my private loans through XXXX XXXX , and they did n't charge me anything to have my debt transferred. I was under the impression and the extent of my understanding was that I was paying The Student Loan Help Center to take on my debt and I would be paying them back and that 's why there was a charge of {$990.00}. At no point was this process explained in detail that The Student Loan help center was just a servicer to have my debt transferred to XXXX XXXX . If I had known that I would have just contacted XXXX XXXX directly and go through the same process I did when I refinanced my private loans with XXXX XXXX . {$990.00} is a rip off for such a service and is almost a years worth of payments on my student debt! I would understand this charge if The Student Loan Help center was the servicer taking on the responsibility of my debt, but that was not the case. The Student Loan Help center should have just told me what to do in order to have XXXX XXXX assist me with transferring/refinancing my debt, and charged me maximum {$100.00} for the professional advice.

my fiance enrolled in this program being told that it would help him, all that. we attempted to cancel the service before the service they " offer '' was ever even rendered. we were told twice that his " contract '' does not allow him to cancel the service. i called one of the offices and they said it would be fine just call the other office, the woman i got was not helpful at all. without actually having the proper paperwork completed, they proceeded to work on my fiance 's behalf. we asked for a manager more than ten times all the while being told that we can not in fact speak to one and that she would be the one who would answer my questions. she then proceeded to explain to me that cancelling was not in their policy and that they could not because it was in the " contract ''. when i asked her to read to me where it said i could not cancel, she stated the refund policy. we do not want to be refunded, we just want the cancel from there forward. the contract states multiple times that this would be in effect until cancelled by me or the servicer. but she kept telling us that we could not cancel the service because it was being rendered anyways, even with us trying to cancel two times before hand. she even proceeded to mock me while on the phone with the tone of her voice and told me at one point when i asked another question, she said, " no, i asked you first '' like a child. this is the most unprofessional group and the biggest scam i have ever dealt with in my life. when i told her i would contact the bbb she hung up on me and told me not to call back. i have the entire thing on recording. she fought with us and told us that we were obligated until XXXX. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY IT IS A SCAM. also, around page four of the " contract '' it is stated that the term of this agreement was in effect until four different outcomes have happened. one of the outcomes was that the client did not give all of the proper paperwork, which we did not submit due to the fact that we tried to cancel twice before, therefore, because of the contract, and us not " properly completing '' the paperwork, this service should be cancelled anyway. they have also stated that they have no record of us calling before to have the service cancelled, which is convenient. this service is something that our servicer for our loans has explained is a service that is free that we can do our selves and to charge {$990.00} to do something we tried to cancel before hand, is outrageous. and the way that woman spoke to us and then hung up. i am a little more than really outraged.

In XXXX, I had inquired about consolidating my student loans with The Student Loan Help Center. My student loans had went to default and i was afraid that I wouldnt be able to get them out of default. So i called this company The Student Loan Help Center. They made me feel like they were going to help me get my student loans out of default. They ask for a payment upfront of XXXX dollars. I didnt have all of it at the initial conversation. So i paid XXXX dollars intially and setup XXXX payments for 2 months of XXXX dollars. I was very hesitant about giving them the money. But, they reassured me that if i was not happy with the service i would get my money back. I realized later on in the month that i was dealing with XXXX companies. They had to send my information to another company for processing. So which that would make them a 3rd party. So, periodically I would call The Student Loan Help Center to check on the status of the consolidation process. But, everytime I call they would tell me that everything was going fine and i should hear something back in XXXX. But, that was not true, it was not okay, because they sent me a letter XXXX XXXX, 2016, stating that the consolidation process needs to be reinstated please contact their office. So when i spoke to their Representative XXXX, he had to put me on a conference call with XXXX XXXX. I was angry that they did not let me know that this had happened. I done some research and found that my consolidation has been this way since XXXX. They never thought about notifying me about this matter. The Representative lied to me about this matter. I also had a chance to speak with a Manager XXXX, today he was very arrogant and threaten to take me to collections if i canceled with them. I asked them to provide me with a invoice copy of services. In which would in detail explain what the money was used for. He quickly explained that they do not have to provide that statement to me. I really felt like i got taken advantage of. I would really like to have this company investigated for fraudulent activity and obtaining documents without having a license to do so.

I contacted " Student Loan Help Center '' back in XXXX XXXX to assist me in consolidating my student loans. They promised to do so after I pay their fee. After said company withdrew their fee from my bank account, they for months kept telling me one excuse after another as to why the process for consolidating my student loans is not complete yet, why time is needed or why the circumstances are not their fault. I spoke to them in XXXX, XXXX, XXXX, and XXXX of XXXX. The individuals I spoke with are XXXX, XXXX ( or XXXX ), XXXX XXXX XXXX. Their contact number is : XXXX ext. XXXX. They record the calls, thus they will have all recordings of the calls I made to them. If they claim they do not then this is more evidence on behalf of their of their guilty actions. When I spoke to representatives at " XXXX '' ( they are the company that handles all my student loans ) in XXXX XXXX they informed me that a process was started in XXXX XXXX then canceled in XXXX XXXX and there is nothing in their records that Student Loan Help CenteXXXX has done anything to resolve this matter. I contacted Student Loan Help Center in XXXX and spoke to XXXX XXXX XXXX concerning the fact that ( 1 ) the consolidation process has been canceled and I was n't notified of it ; and ( 2 ) they have n't done anything to resolve this matter. Those said individuals gave me more excuses. When I contacted them again in XXXX XXXX and spoke to XXXX to inform them that I wanted a full refund of my money, she both transferred me over to XXXX XXXX voicemail then when I called back a second time she gave me an email address and said once I email them I will be contacted right away concerning my refund. I did as she instructed but received no response via email nor phone. The bottom line is this company has committed fraud. They have n't provided me any proof that they have done anything on my behalf nor, and most importantly, they have n't done the task as they promised.

The Student Loan Help Center ( XXXX was the person I talked to at ( XXXX ) XXXX ext. XXXX ) claimed they would set up a consolidation for my federal loans, arrange a temporary forbearance during the process, enroll me in the Public Service Loan Forgiveness, and arrange my new monthly payment to be {$110.00} if I filed married-filing-separately or {$240.00} if I did not change my tax filing status. For these services, they charged me {$990.00}, which I paid in XXXX installments. The first payment of {$240.00} was taken from my checking account the day I agreed to these terms. Within a couple of days later, I submitted a notorized power of attorney release and my federal tax statement from the previous year, which they had requested. In XXXX, I received a loan payment plan from XXXX XXXX, the new servicing agency that has been assigned to service my consolidated loan. The payment was set at {$330.00}. I called them to ask why it was so high and they told me it had been set using the information I had given Student Loan Help center. After hearing what had been promised me, the XXXX representative told me that they has terminated their relationship with Student Loan Help Center, that I should file a complaint and take action to get my money back, that I was not enrolled in any forgiveness program, and that the consolidation of my loans caused me to lose any retroactive forgiveness I may have coming once I enroll myself in the federal forgiveness program. They also have notified me that they have denied my power-of-attorney. I called Student Loan Help Center to ask why my payment was so high and XXXX, who set the whole process in action, told me that " It will happen. ", but that I would have to talk to another representative, who she forwarded my call to. I was on hold for a very long time and gave up. My bank is currently pursuing a dispute of the four payments that Student Loan Help Center has extracted from my checking account.

On XXXX XXXX I began correspondence with XXXX XXXX XXXX from XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX, FL XXXX to try and reconcile a defaulted student loan that was in collection with wage garnishment. The contract was for {$1100.00} to be paid over 3 months all the while wages were still being tarnished. Also, to finalize this contract I had to provide XXXX XXXX XXXX with my log in information for the US Dept of Ed. By the end of XXXX I still had not heard from XXXX XXXX XXXX and further action they would be taking on my behalf and my wages were still being tarnished. Finally on XX/XX/XXXX I received an email from XXXX XXXX requesting extensive personal information. It was at this point I began questioning the validity of the company because w the requested information along with my US Dept of Ed log in information this company would have adsolutely all my personal information. I was very uneasy with this so I requested a refund for the {$1100.00} since XXXX XXXX XXXX has taken no action and my wage garnishment was still continuing. I spoke with XXXX XXXX from XXXX XXXX XXXX in XX/XX/XXXX and he denied my request for a refund. After numerous phone calls back and forth I was told by XXXX that I would be receiving a check in the mail in 5-7 business days. After the 7 business days I had still not received a check so I called XXXX XXXX back and was told I would not be getting a refund. He stated I would have to have my bank call and disput the charges. When my bank called and spoke ton XXXX XXXX he told them they would have to do a charge back. This was not possible for my bank to do since these transactions no longer qualified for a charge back. At this point XXXX XXXX refused to work with me any further. All I would like is a refund of my money collected for services that were never provided.

I spoke with a representative at TSLHS XXXX : XXXX and requested information on the XXXX XXXX XXXX program for repayment options. The rep explained he could review my info and suggest whether I would qualify and send paperwork for the fee equal to one student loan payment ( {$640.00} ). They sent the paperwork. I completed and filed with Department of Education. They then informed me that all their paperwork and services are 100 % free and that I had paid a 3rd Party who is not in any way affiliated or authorized on their behalf to distribute paperwork to send me free documents. I called TSLHS to request a detailed explanation and refund based on ethics and a lack of verbal communication of this info and was denied. They simply routed me back to their website which explains things in detail. However, I was not explained this on our call and it is unethical to fall back on disclaimers posted on a site when the contact was via live call. The rep at TSLHS created such a sense of urgency within our call that when I asked if I could mull over the offer ( sending me paperwork via mail for {$640.00} ) and do a little research, he indicated to me that I should rush on my actions because once XXXX became president the Forgiveness Plan ( XXXX XXXX XXXX ) may no longer be available. So I completed the paperwork on the call. I am disheartened that a company would take advantage of people like myself who are only seeking to pay their student loans. It is assumed ( generally speaking ) that loan details are confusing for many and they prey on that fact. If at any time he would have explained that I could download forms on my own or directed me to the disclaimer on that call, I never would have spent my rent money on their " service ''.

I saw on the internet that there are programs for Student Loan Forgiveness if you were a certain age or had paid several years on the loan and there were other categories. I called the XXXX XXXX XXXX and was told by XXXX XXXX that I may be able to stop payments for six years but I would have to sign a contract and pay {$900.00}. I filled out the contract on XX/XX/XXXX. {$330.00} was taken from my account that day. Later that day I noticed an ad that warned against this type of program, it stated that these program are sometimes fraudulent and never pay up front. I called on XX/XX/XXXX, XXXX, XXXX and left a message stating that I wanted to cancel and remain with my current lender XXXX and please return my call. On the XXXX I was able to speak with someone when I called and I requested that the money be replaced back on my credit card. I also sent a certified letter stating the same information. On XX/XX/XXXX I received an e-mail stating I need to make another payment, or the account would be turned over to a collection agency. I called and was transferred to a supervisor that said I had to pay the money because XXXX XXXX had spent lots of time with the contract. I have paid {$990.00}. I was told to send my tax return for XXXX but that I probably didn't qualify. When I called the next week I was told that I didn't qualify because there was a difference in the amount of my income I did not know that the RDM had to be added but they kept my money and has provided no services. I have called several times since then and they tell me we will take care of you. The last time I called I asked for a copy of the contract and I was hung up on. I can't understand how they can keep the money.

I called a number to get approved for XXXX XXXX. I spoke with The Student Loan Help Center. I was n't sure about the program or what it was about. I inquired with some questions but I did n't realize i was speaking with a 3rd party representative that charged me {$600.00} to get started with XXXX XXXX. To my understanding I could 've just inquired with XXXX XXXX and it would 've been free. The lady on the phone rushed me and was eager to take down my credit card information. I talked to so many different people and no one mentioned that they were not XXXX XXXX. I kept getting transferred and I think it was because I asked too many questions. I thought I was speaking with XXXX the entire time but I was mistaken I did n't realize they were a 3rd Party Representative. The only time they reached out to me was when my payment did n't go through because my credit card information had changed. I was taken back. The only time these people reached out to me was for money. Not to inquire or inform me about the status and etc of my account. I 'm disturbed about all this. If i lose the money because i failed to do the research afterwards then yes that 's my fault but to my understanding I thought I was speaking to to XXXX XXXX. How do you CHARGE people for a service that 's free?!. And to top it all off, I was told I would n't be paying a dime for 20 years and that it would save me from paying interest and so on. I found out that in reality if I 'm paying {$0.00} a month, I would still be paying the interest rate monthly. They never mentioned any of this. XXXX XXXX told me to contact CFPB for assistance and I hope you guys can assist. Thank you!

On XX/XX/2017 I called the Department of Education and got transferred to a line that checked whether I qualified for any full or partial loan forgiveness. I was told I qualified for the 'best program ' of partial forgiveness, a 'revised pay as you earn ' plan that would be based on 10 % of my income, to be re-evaluated every year, with payments starting as low as {$12.00} a month, for 20 years. After 20 years the rest of my debt would be completely forgiven. The suspicious piece is that they asked for a payment of {$590.00} for the legal fees associated with taking over my loans - when I asked whether that made my loans private, they said no, and when I asked if this was directly affiliated with the Department of Education, they said yes. I talked to XXXX XXXX. I said I could not pay the {$590.00} today ( which they asked me to pay immediately ), and they said I could pay in installments of {$150.00} today, then 4 monthly payments of {$140.00}. They have since taken {$150.00} and 1 payment of {$140.00}. They then emailed me documents to sign, asking for the first 2 pages of my tax return or last 2 pay stubs, a notarized limited power of attorney, and an authorization for release of information, which I have not signed or returned as I am afraid I have been scammed and do not want to use this service. This is all from the Student Loan Help Center, XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX, FL XXXX. Upon researching them more, they are not a recommended avenue for student loan management, the " Student Loan Help Center '' is a fictitious name for Brelvis Consulting LLC.

I was attending a private college, XXXX XXXX College, for XXXX. The school is closing and I am unable to continue due to their closure. I have accumulated a large debt from financial aid and needed to figure out how to pay it off. I thought I was dealing with the actual Department of education about my loans, trying to consolidate them. The company The Student Loan Help Center ( TSLHC ) said that I needed to pay {$790.00} for this service. Of course I ca n't afford this so they set up a payment plan of 4 monthly installments. After the second payment went out I recieved a notice from the Department of Education ( DOE ) stating that my Power of Attorney was declined. I called the DOE and was informed by XXXX of the reps that they provide this service for free and the TSLHC is a 3rd party debt relief company scam. I called my Bank and faxed the letter stating the declination of my Power of Attorney. My bank reversed the charges and changed my account # so they would not have any further access to my funds. I was contacted by the TSLHC asking for the third payment, I stated I needed to discuss this with the DOE. I then called the DOE and again was informed not to speak with TSLHC, to call the State Attorney General and file a complaint of a 3rd party debt relief company scam. I did this and was redirected from the Attorney Generals office to contact the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and place a complaint with them. If you need any further information you may contact me. XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. XXXX New Mexico XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXXXXXX

I receive multiple phone calls and text messages over the past three months from an organization calling itself the " Student Loan Help Center '', which apparently is based either in southern California or Florida. I have repeatedly told this company that : 1 ) I did not request any information from them 2 ) My phone number is on the Federal Do Not Call List 3 ) That I wish to be removed from all future communications. Despite this, I continue to receive robocalls and SMS messages. I do not have a business relationship with this company ; not do I want to have a business relationship with this company. I have verified that my phone number is and has been current on the DNC List. I have filed complaints with the FCC, the U.S. Department of Education, the CA Attorney General 's office ( where I reside ), and the FL Attorney General 's office ( which may be where this organization is headquartered. I have also informed my Member of Congress of this issue. I have asked to speak to the organizations General Counsel to file a formal complaint ; at which point the person hangs up the phone. I believe that this is the website of the company that calls me : http : //thestudentloanhelpcenter.com/ I block the phone number each time, but they always call from a different number. On one call, the voice recording said that the phone call was made using XXXX XXXX , a VOIP provider.

Once she offered to have {$4000.00} removed as forgiveness from my loan I ask why we had n't addressed the matter for my call about the XXXX negative actions on my report. At that time I felt her response was dancing around the question and asked if they were in fact a government entity with DOE. She stated they were and the company is calle d Student Loan Help Center. While on the call I searched them on XXXX and realized this was a scam.

Not sure how this company received my call or has their number listed for DOE with XXXX XXXX .

I 'm filing this complaint because the took my personal info and I 'm worried they will attempt to use it. Also, I would like to understand why their phone number is the one provided for the DOE with XXXX XXXX , they misguide you to believe you are speaking with DOE.

I received information from the Student Loan Help Center about a program attached to President Obama 's affordable care act. I was told that this program would allow me to reduce my monthly payments and eventually have my loans forgiven after 20 years instead of XXXX. I was told this would all be done for me for a one time fee that can be split up over 3 months. I would have to fill out an application and " e-sign '' it to complete the application process. However, part of what I was told to " e-sign '' turned out to be some kind of legal contract that I was not informed of. I was told that I would only have to sign in XXXX places and it turns out that my e-signature was placed in at least XXXX other places. Throughout this entire process, the worker over the phone heavily implied that this was run through the government and that they were in fact part of the government. At no point in time was it disclosed to me this was a private company or that I can apply for these type of relief methods myself. This whole process may not be fraudulent but it is predatory. It preys on the fear many students have with large debt and convinces us of a golden way out. As it turns out, the old saying If it 's too good to be true, then it probably is. '' was correct.

I was trying to contact XXXX about an approval for repayment plan, I dialed the number on the invoice XXXX and was directed to th e Student Loan Help Center. Aft er about a half hour of talking I found myself agreeing to a consolidation of XXXX student loans with {$0.00} monthly payments and forgiveness of all loans after 20 years ' all based on my annual income. In addition XXXX XXXX explained to me that there was a {$790.00} fee to cover enrollment fee and the legal process to consolidate into XXXX loan. Later that night I read the document they sent for signature, signed electronically, authorizing the fee to be deducted from my account and finished. Shortly after I read on dept of education that there should be no fees incurred for student loan help or consolidation. I tried calling XXXX to leave a message to cancel and the call was answered by a general phone line and I was unable to leave a message. I did send an email to their support center and will request a refund in the morning. The funds were withdrawn as soon as I hit Finish. Please advise if this is a scam and how I can get my money back

I have Parent PLUS loans that my own servicer is handling just fine. However, I keep getting calls from a company called Student Loan Help Center ( p hone number XXXX ) saying that this is my last chance to get into income based repayment, that the Obamacare loan program is being revoked at the end of the month, and that at that time the Department of Education will require full payment of my outstanding balance. I know that all of this is not true as I am a higher education policy analyst well versed on the student loan and student loan repayment programs. However, what concerns me is that even my own sons would likely not understand this to be a scam unless they asked me. I am very worried that other borrowers could be defrauded by this company. I 've spoken to a manager ther e to express my concern that they are giving our fraudulent information, and to give them accurate information about the loan programs, but they hang up on me twice. So this is n't a case of a single call center employee who is not delivering the message correctly. They need to be stopped before borrowers are defrauded. Thanks!

I have been scammed by a company called " The Student Loan Help Center '', based in Florida. This company offered to consolidate my federal student loans for a {$990.00} fee, promising that I would be eligible for loan forgiveness after consolidation through a program implemented by the Obama administration. Unfortunately, I was unaware that federal student loan consolidation i s FREE. This was the second company that offered me the same solution, so I thought it had to be legitimate. The other company offering a similar scam is called " XXXX XXXX XXXX '', based in California. Unfortunately, I gave " The Student Loan Help Center '' {$160.00} to consolidate my student loans. When I found out it was a scam, I cancelled my loan consolidation and credit card so they can not take any more money from me. But so far, I am unable to get a refund. Every time I call I get held for hours or transferred to a voicemail. These companies need to be stopped! They are preying on burdened graduates who struggle to pay their student loans.

I was promptly emailed several documents to fill out, along with requests to send income documentation. Despite sending all requested documentation multiple times, XXXX took no action on my loan consolidation as agreed in our contract. I received multiple emails claiming the reason they had not moved forward was because they had not recieved my income documentation; despite multiple email and snail-mail mailings of said information on my end, and an email from XXXX confirming the receipt of this information. XXXX also created an unauthorized XXXX account in my name during this process that made it very difficult for me consolidate the loans on my own after they took no action, as I was locked out of the XXXX website containing the documents I needed to apply for help with a legitimate company contracted through the education department.

I am a recent graduate of a XXXX looking for guidance with loan repayment options. I came across a company called the student loan help center who helped me through the whole process and explained the loan forgiveness options I qualified for. After all was explained they said they would help to consolidate my loans and enroll me into the loan forgiveness program if I made a one time payment of XXXX dollars. I impulsively agreed and setup a three month payment plan thinking this was a good investment. After reading several articles online I realized no one should have to pay for these services, and there are free student loan repayment help centers available through the federal government. I unfortunately signed a contract which is why I am contacting you to help guide me through this process. I am going to call my credit card company to cancel the first of three payments scheduled to this company.

I contacted The Student Loan Help Center in hopes of having my student loans forgiven since I am an XXXX service member. They appeared very interconnected with the U.S. Department of Education and informed me that there was a high chance for my loans to be completely forgiven. They informed me that they could help me by consolidating my defaulted loans for me in exchange for a payment of {$900.00}. Although I gave them my personal information such as my SSN, address and debit card number, I feel my sensitive information was mishandled. I am now aware this third party does not need to be involved in the consolidation of my federal loans. I am also currently having those payments refunded to me through my bank and there is a pending investigation for fraud. I wish to inform the community of this organization so that XXXX soldiers will be aware of this scam.

I was robo called by a XXXX party ( The Student Loan Help Center ) to help me with my student loans. As a XXXX in a XXXX XXXX district, I knew I was soon eligible for up to {$5000.00} loan forgiveness. Assuming that was why these people contacted me, I agreed to pay a one time fee of {$590.00} dollars so this company ( who I thought was affiliated with the department of ed. ) could alter my repayment program. Apparently this service is offered for free directly through my lending house ( XXXX ). I have since worked with them to not only enroll in a new type of payment program, but also to file a complaint with them as well about these poor/unethical business practices. I 've since filed a complaint with the XXXX and have contacted my XXXX. I would like to be reimbursed for services that were A ) never necessary and B ) never rendered.

I recently reached out to XXXX to help me with loan consolidation. They took advantage of me not really being well educated on the matter and got private information and an upfront payment for services. Upon further research that night, I discovered I could do that for free and that it 's a scam to take money upfront for loan services. I reached out to my credit card company to block payments and dispute the charge. I proceeded to reach out to the student help center where they gave me the run around to get in touch with compliance to cancel the service. I have left voicemail and emails to multiple departments with no response.
