I signed up with XXXX XXXX XXXX ( XXXX ) on XX/XX/XXXX. I submitted a total of 11 credit cards for the company to assist me by negotiating with the credit card companies. XXXX advised me to stop making payments on all of my cards in order for them to negotiate my debt to settle for less. In XXXX of XXXX, a debt collector served me with papers so I hired an attorney to take care of that one particular debt. As of XX/XX/XXXX, 9 of the 10 cards were either being paid off or were already paid off for more that 50 of the original debt. On XX/XX/XXXX, I received a text message from XXXX indicating that they negotiated a settlement on my BHK Financial account that has a current balance of {$6500.00} but can be settled for {$6500.00} over 13 payments. This credit card was issued by XXXX XXXX Credit Card and my enrolled balance was {$4800.00}. Because this debt was more than 2 years old, I was not aware of how much the enrolled amount was. The purpose for entering an agreement with XXXX was for them to negotiate a settlement for less than the enrolled amount, this particular debt was settled for {$6500.00}, which is {$1600.00} more than the enrolled debt amount. To this date, I have already paid {$4500.00}, which I am sure is well over the amount I should be paying if XXXX would have done their job by settling the debt for close to if not less than half of what was originally owed. I called the company once I realized the mistake that was made. The customer service rep who assisted me told me sometimes they are not able to negotiate for less than the enrolled debt, I told him its ridiculous for them to settle for more than the enrolled debt.

I have auto debt from XXXX XXXX XXXX in AZ. I was not able to pay for the car note so they came to repossess the vehicle. After they repoed the car a company named BHK Financial in AZ started contacting me about the debt and repaying the amount. At first, I started paying what I could which was about {$100.00}. After the pandemic hit I was not working ( BHK was notified ) and I couldn't pay for a few months. 5-6 months went by and they contacted me asking if I was able to find employment. I let them know that I did find a job and that I was willing to continue payments. However, after a month or so, the representative called and told me that they needed more money to close the file and that their " client '' ( XXXX XXXX XXXX ) will not accept my small payments. He told me I needed to start paying {$1000.00} a month to close my file. After I told him I was not able to pay that much he let me know that their client will take legal action to get all the money from me ( and the lawyer fees ). After that conversation, I decided to stop sending payments and find help ( found CFPB ). Since that time I have contacted BHK to make another payment on that account. They let me know that their client may not accept my payment as they are looking to take legal action.

I received a phone call on Tuesday XX/XX/XXXX at XXXX from XXXX XXXX who is the operations manager of BHK Financial . He told me on our phone call that " he can make 1 phone call to the attorney '' and legal action would ensue. I do not owe a debt to BHK Financial, and from his explanation, they are just a third party attempting to collect on behalf of someone else. The threat that he can make " one phone call to the attorney '' and legal action would ensue is very abusive and deceptive, as BHK Financial is not the creditor.

My social security number is XXXX. Since about 2011, I am still waiting on wages owed to me. Over the past eight years, I've attempted to make partial payments on my balances owed approximately {$700.00}. I believe I appreciate BHK Financial originally XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX accepting money from me over this time. However, I am concerned about damage to my FICO score too to qualify for a home. I am still collecting unemployment and now I am starting school next year.

I received a message from my employer stating they received a very rude phone call from someone asking about me. I called the number back, and XXXX was insinuating that she would take actions to involuntarily collect the supposed debt I owed. She said that she has verified my employment and that her client has retained an attorney. I am not aware of any of this, as I have not received a written notice of the debt or the collection attempt.
