In XX/XX/2019 my XXXX year old mother was contacted by Benefit Mortgage in XXXX XXXX, CA about the benefits of a reverse mortgage. The broker visited her on many occasions, eventually presenting her with a 200 page " loan package. '' She was confused and because my father was no longer alive and I am living in DC, she did not have anyone advocating on her behalf. She signed the loan documents under the duress of the broker, a complaint she later voiced to me. In doing some digging on my own, I discovered that any citizen who applies for a reverse mortgage must complete a counseling session to educate the individual about what they are entering into. Once completed they receive a certificate signed by the counselor and then by the client. When I finally received a copy of the counseling certificate from Benefit Mortgage ( attached ) I noticed that there was only the counselor 's signature and no signature from my mother. This backs up her claim that she never received the counseling. The name of the broker is XXXX XXXX and his manager is XXXX XXXX, both of Benefit Mortgage in XXXX XXXX, CA.
