I paid a law firm XXXX Beling & Associates XXXX to litigate or otherwise resolve private student loans for consumer rights violations made by the private student loan companies. I have a contract with the attorney 's office which lists those loans. I was recently sued by one of the private student loan companies for a student loan which is in the contract and which my attorney was supposed to be negotiating ( I have the contract and e-mails with the law firm regarding the potential settlement of these loans with the servicer ). Upon receiving the complaint filed by the student loan company, I tried to reach out to my attorney both by phone and e-mail, several times, and have yet to receive a response in over 6 weeks. They have also taken no action with regard to the lawsuit filed against me and I am currently handling the matter pro se, in spite of already having paid the law firm to deal with this loan. There is a second pending action against me ( I have not yet been served but service was attempted ) for another loan listed in the contract with Beling & Associates, which was also supposed to be in the process of negotiation, or that was the status of these loans based on the last correspondence received from Beling & Associates.

In XXXX I hired Beling & Associates Law Firm of XXXX, due to their promises of reducing my student loan debt. They promised to get it cut in half and all I had to do is pay them {$250.00} per month as they would negotiate this settlement with my student loan lender. They also promised that this would not affect my credit report or score and nothing bad would be reported. By XXXX, the loan was settled, cut in half, and instead of owing {$20000.00}, I now owed {$8000.00}. Unfortunately, it wasn't until I needed to rent an apartment in XXXX that I found out that it was reported as a charge-off ... as if i refused to pay and went delinquent on {$12000.00}. This caused me to face homelessness, scrambling to find housing options when the apartment denied me a rental as I relocated to a new state for employment. This was NOT the agreement we made and they need to be held accountable for this seeming scam.

I have been paying this company between {$350.00} and {$250.00} per month for the past 1 1/2 years. I was told they would reduce or have my private student loans cancelled. They also told me my credit would not be affected and if it was they would repair it. come to find out my credit is shot and all of my debt was sent to collections.
