I received a strange voice mail from a gentleman ( XXXX XXXX ) claiming he had " sealed '' documents to deliver to me and to make myself and a supervisor available between the hours of XXXX.
I called the number back given in the voice mail ( XXXX ) and I was told no one worked at XXXX XXXX XXXX by that name.
The rep on the phone they proceeded to ask me to confirm the last XXXX digits of my social. They already had it, but I refused to confirm or deny. Then they proceeded to tell me that I owed {$690.00} for a fictitious payday loan from XX/XX/XXXX. I stated I did not owe the money, but offered to meet at the police station to receive these " sealed '' documents that was stated in the voicemail.
MIND YOU, THROUGHOUT ALL OF THIS, SINCE IT WAS OBVIOUS THEY WERE ATTEMPTING TO COLLECT A DEBT, WHETHER REAL OR FAKE, I WAS NEVER READ THE MINI-MIRANDA. I WAS NEVER ADVISED OF MY RIGHTS UNDER THE FDCPA.
FUTHERMORE, I 'VE FOUND OUT THAT XXXX XXXX XXXX OR BAYVIEW INVESTMENTS IN NOT LICENSED TO DO BUSINESS IN THE STATE OF LOUISIANA, WHICH IS WHERE I RESIDE.
Because I called numerous times trying to ascertain how they got my information, as a result, these people decided to harass me and submit a complaint to my employer that I was preventing them from doing business.
I 'd like for some type of punishment to be doled out, because since I refused to fall for their scam, their threatening my livelihood by trying to embarrass me into paying.
I 've already submitted a formal complaint and counterclaim with my corporate office detailing this but consumers should not have to be threatened AT THEIR WORK AND HAVE FALSE COMPLAINTS SUBMITTED, because they refused to fall for scams.
I 'll attach a copy of the voice mail. Please note that as of today, XX/XX/XXXX I have yet to receive these sealed documents from any type of courier.
