Bakalar and Associates in XXXX XXXX FL ( XXXX ) XXXX XXXX sent a notice stating an amount owed to my HOA {$1600.00} This amount was for past due amount, collectors fees and interest. I made payment to the original creditor the XXXX HOA for the past due amount and added an additional payment for the upcoming month bring the total of my payment to {$1900.00}. Thirty ( 30 ) days after I made the payment debt collector/XXXX sent a second correspondence indicating that a small portion of the original debt was still outstanding because I did n't make payment directly to debt collection company. Incidentally, the amount in question was for the collector 's fees and interest which was accruing even after the entire amount of the debt had been paid to the original debtor. I attempted to explain by law the interest should have been paid first according to the FL Statue 720.3085 ( c ) ( b ) -- this statue was included in the correspondence -- otherwise I would n't have know that attempting to collect the interest ( again ) was improper.
I was able to speak with XXXX XXXX regarding the debt and shared by concerns. He was not swayed and is still attempting to collect {$350.00} which is an amount greater than what is owed.

I filed a complaint with CFPB, complaint no. XXXX on XX/XX/20. Bakalar replied with lies, I did not cancel the appointments, the times they gave me were not acceptable, and I have been asking for documents for two years. The Homeowners Association in association with Bakalar, their attorney and debt collector, is in violation of F.S. 720 for failing to provide documents requested.
The attorney/debt collector is now charging me {$250.00} to respond to the complaint I filed with you. This is OUTRAGEOUS and I believe illegal.
I want Bakalar investigated for charging unethical/illegal fees to answer the complaint.
