On XXXX XXXX, I received a voicemail from XXXX XXXX ( sp? ) stating that he intended to serve me with legal documentation that required my signature. He stated that he would come to my place of employment between XXXX and XXXX, and proceed to my home and " wait there a while for me to show up. '' He said if he did not see me TODAY, it would result in further action and be considered a " missed appearance. '' The number he left was XXXX, and I needed to reference my document number, which was XXXX. I called this number and spoke to a XXXX XXXX. This person told me they wanted to settle an old debt. He gave me two different amounts that I owed ( $ XXXX and then $ XXXX ), and said they would settle for {$400.00}. He asked for debit card information so I could pay, and also gave me payment options. This was suspicious to me, so I asked for his business name, which is Audubon Liberty Associates. He gave me three different phone numbers when asked, and when I asked the physical address of his business, he first said they were in North Carolina. When I asked him again, he told me they are in South Carolina. When I told him he initially said they were in North Carolina, he responded " No I did not. '' He got rude when I pushed with more questions. He refused to give me the physical address of his company. He gave me XXXX digits and asked if those were the last XXXX of my SSN. They were not. I asked what address they had on file and it was not at all familiar to me. After I pushed, he then said they must have the wrong person. It was clearly a scam.
