I was recently scammed on XXXX, for a false job opportunity that was given to me. The " company '' sent out a check for me to deposit to get supplies for remote work. The funds were deposited through my mobile banking app through XXXX bank on XX/XX/2023. I received a message on XX/XX/2023, stating that the funds were available. I was told by the " employer '' that the funds should be available and asked for me to confirm. I did confirm they were deposited into my account, and from there he offered for the " company '' to overnight a laptop instead, which required me to send the funds back. I did this through XXXX on my mobile banking app and cash app, between XX/XX/XXXX and XXXX. On the morning of XX/XX/XXXX at XXXX XXXX, I did check my mobile banking app and noticed the negative balance, which let me know I have been scammed. At XXXX XXXX central time, I called XXXX bank to let them know about the scam and to inform them I had filed a police report, a report with the XXXX XXXX XXXX, and I spoke with the hiring leader of the actual company, whom the scammers posed as. He also described my situation and said that this is a going thing and they are working with XXXX to resolve the issue. XXXX XXXX still chose to close out my bank account and required me to pay XXXX dollars within thirty days or set up a payment plan after being scammed and reporting the scam. I did file a complaint with the CFPB against XXXX bank on XX/XX/2023. I would also like to make note that the CFPB is not the only one I made a report to concerning this scam. I first spoke with the FDIC and they told me to get in contact with other bureaus and commissions as well. Seeing as though I was scammed, I should not have to owe any money to XXXX because these are insured funds. I also contacted the office of the comptroller of the currency and the federal trade commission and submitted the scam that I fell victim to. Although, these commissions and bureaus do not resolve reports on behalf of individuals. They use reports to investigate and bring cases against fraud and scams. Job scams are a big reoccurrence within days society because of the financial crisis we are all going through. I am not the only one that has fallen victim to this, our society is going through major layoffs within the tech company and other major companies as well. I work in the service industry as a personal trainer, however, a lot of clients are going through rough financial times. Which affects my business/ability to work. All I wanted to do was get a new job to help fund my education for XXXX XXXX On XX/XX/XXXX, I did receive a message from the CFPB in regards to a response from XXXX bank in regards to my original complaint. I was notified that they believed that I still owed them money. In that letter, they appointed me to Apelles Collections. I did call them and was told the debt had been in collections since XX/XX/XXXX. I was told by XXXX that a letter was sent on that date, however, I was not sent anything by mail. If I was sent anything I would have tried my best to dispute it like my previous attempts, I do strongly believe that as a victim of a scam, I should be helped and encouraged in this situation rather than held accountable for XXXX ' actions. XXXX did tell me he will reach out to XXXX bank in regards to this matter because I did report it as a scam. I also showed proof through my various emails, messages, and police reports. I was scammed and did report to XXXX bank as soon as I knew. I also went through the correct channels to report the scam. I was also contacted by the company the scammers posed as and received confirmation that this is an ongoing scam and they are working with XXXX to stop this from happening again.

I 'm contacting you all again because the issue originally reported is this company have n't shown any verified proof of contacting me and reported a debt that 's being paid as in collections. I 'm still paying ADT for this debt to date. I do n't receive mail at this address due to mail getting lost. I elect to receive mail electronically from all creditors. Which is totally irrelevant here. The dates they are providing is proof of their wrong and does n't match payment dates I submitted from my bank of actual payments received. I have been paying ADT since XXXX XXXX I have never been late paying ADT. I cancelled this account myself because of the ridiculous resigning of the contract and increasing of monthly service charge from every move I make. Plainly put they ( ADT ) kept requiring me to re-sign a contract for 3 years even though I had only a few months until the end of it when I transferred the service. So wrong it was n't cancelled for non payment I stopped doing business with them period. They sold the account maliciously because I would n't restart service with them. They ( ADT ) then blocked me from being able to access the account online so I could n't pay them the debt. This company known as ( Appelles ) are in the crossfire because they have an account that 's not delinquent and never sent me the consumer any verified correspondence and because they are receiving payments from XXXX that I send they are aware of the inaccurracy. What they provided in a recent complaint was n't received by me as I was n't receiving mail at my address during that time. Appelles is taking payments from XXXX that I send them and applying them as if they 're not aware this account is being paid. Appelles took this account in XXXX XXXX it 's clear they know it 's not delinquent. It is being paid and they have no right to report it as an account not paid. It is a cancelled account by me that I have faithfully been paying since I cancelled in XXXX XXXX . I 'm continuing to pay ADT. I 'm not doing business with Appelles LLC. I ow e and pay XXXX , I 'm still and will continue to pay ADT. So Appelles is reporting inaccurate information to a third party ( credit bureaus ) violating the FCRA and I have furnished all documents to attest to it. I 'm telling them to remove it and I suggest they let XXXX handle their own business. Appelles XXXX is a collection agency for accounts that 's delinquent and not paid by consumers. I 'm clearly paying this account and have been since XXXX XXXX so Appelles had no need to take it over just because someone at XXXX is angry at me the consumer. I 'm not going to allow Appelles t o get in the middle so they need not contact me unless they remove the inaccurate information from the credit bureaus. I 'm not going to stop until they do because it is wrong. I 'm going to continue paying ADT as I have been and they will get what I pay them monthly until this debt is paid. I 'm being ripped off because there 's no way I owe them this much money anyway however I signed a contract, and in the fine print it stated when or if I cancel I owe XXXX percent of the remaining balance. I cancelled and I 'm paying it. What XXXX gets a letter of a reduced amount and not settle it? I pay my bills and this is wrong . Appelles a lso acknowledged in the previous complaint of 60 days late constituting them sending it to bureaus, they 're still reporting wrong. If I were to entertain them XXXX XXXX to XXXX XXXX is 60 days after the 30 days allowed to validate the debt with them. I was n't delinquent with XXXX nor Appelles on XXXX XXXX when they wrongfully reported this to the third party. XXXX , XXXX XXXX

I moved homes in XXXX and called XXXX to install an alarm system. The salesman came to my home and sold me an alarm. It was installed by replacing the exisitng alarm control panels with XXXX panels a few weeks later. I had signed a 2 year contract for montoring for a total of {$1100.00} paid monthly. After a few weeks.of use my wife came home and opened the front door and we found the alarm never worked when she open the door, as typically we came through the garage entrance. We contacted XXXX and they sent us an engineer who told us that the sensors in the front door werent working and we need to have then rewired. When the engineer checked the rest of the home and he told use that the whole house need to be rewired the alarm to work. The XXXX salesman came our house again and told us we would need to.spend a further {$2200.00} for wiring with fronts, side, patio, garages doors and window sensors. We complained that this should have been expalined ahead us signing the contract and so they sent us a 2nd senior sales manager to our home. He agreed that XXXX engineers couldnt have tested the alarm system on the initial visit and said he would discount the sensors and wiring to {$1700.00}. We respectfully declined the offer given we had all the expenses of moving to a new home. He told us that he would have the contract cancelled and apologized for the issue. A few months later we started to recieve bills from XXXX for alarm monitoring and we called several times giving our explanation and were told someone would be back in contact. Many calls and bills later, we found out that Sales Manager had left XXXX. Eventially we were presented with a demand for the 2 year montoring fee in full. We tried to raise this within XXXX but there customer service team has 1 escaltion route to another team that has no discretion, no power and simply stated we " signed '' a contract. XXXX passed this to Apelles LLC debt collection in XXXX after 4 yearrs of disputing the demands. Apelles were initally understanding of our postion, which we disputed within 30 days of them contacting us, and then we found they had registered a debt against us. Today, 4 years on, we still have the alarm system in place as originally installed by XXXX, still not working as proof of how they left us. Extremely frustrated at how companies like XXXX are allowed to treat customers with such lack of care and no mechansim to get to Senior people who would be able to listen and hear. Shame on you XXXX.

I have been getting phone calls from this number several times a day now for over 2 months. When I Googled this number, it comes up as a scam number -- high risk. Then last week, a ma n left a message twice on my recorder that he is attempting to collect a debt on behalf of Apelles LLC, but the phone number he left to call back was XXXX , not as shown on my call logs. I have no idea wh o this Apelles LLC is . I have never received any letter from a creditor informing me that this company has been retained to collect a debt on their behalf. I have filed a complaint with the BBB in XXXX , OH where this company is headquartered and asked that they cease and desist in calling me and leaving messages on my recorder ( done last week ). I have not received anything back from BBB with a response from this Apelles. I do not have a private voice messaging center as caretakers have access to my recorder as I am in and out of the hospital much due to XXXX XXXX XXXX . The FDCPA prohibits debt collects from leaving voicemail messages when the voicemail is not completely private with others having access to voicemail messages. My caretakers took these XXXX voicemail messages left by this ma n ( no name left ) and are now aware that I am having financial difficulties. Another call came in again this mornin g ( XXXX / XXXX / 17 ) which tells me that this company has not responded to the BBB ( if it is even this company making these calls ). I am a very ill person with XXXX XXXX XXXX and can not tolerate such calls coming into my home numerous times a day. Again, I have not received any letter from creditors info rming me that Apelles has been retained to collect a debt. Any outstanding debt that I have has been addressed directly with my creditors and none of them have retained Apelles to collect my debt. It is enough that I have to deal with the massive amount of robo calls that are coming in every day from all over the country, let alone someone I do n't even know leaving messages on my voicemail about co llecting a debt. I have saved the messages that were left on my voicemail by this man ( again, unidentified ), and if this continues I will file for the {$1000.00} fine for each call that continues to come into my home.

Last year I elected to change my banking relationship from XXXX XXXX to XXXX. One of the accounts I attempted to close was a checking account # XXXX I used to auto pay my monthly homeowners fees to XXXX XXXX XXXX in XXXX, Fl. in the amount of {$68.00}. I personally visited the XXXX XXXX branch on XXXX XXXX. XXXX to close the account and spoke to a bank officeXXXX named XXXX who supposedly closed the account as requested. Several weeks later I began receiving notices from the HOA that XXXX XXXX was continuing to send payments to the HOA which they were returning without cashing, and I needed to contact XXXX to resolve this issue. I again visited XXXX XXXX and spoke to the same officer and stated that the account was not properly closed and XXXX was continuing to send checks to the HOA. He said he would take care of the matter without further delay. The issue was not resolved and checks continued to the HOA. I then continued to contact the original XXXX XXXX manager who had opened the account and he contacted XXXX. This appeared to resolve the matter and I assumed everything was finally properly taken care of. Last week I received a call from XXXX XXXX stating I needed to pay an outstand debt on this account in the amount of {$54.00} or it would be turned over to a collection agency. This is more than a year after I assumed everything had finally been taken care of. They also stated I received a collection letter I also did not receive until several days later. I called the collection agency to explain the issue, however, they said since XXXX was their client I needed to contact XXXX directly. I again visited the XXXX branch on XXXX XXXX. this time speaking to the manager XXXX who promised to look into the matter. A couple of days later I received a call from her stating XXXX was not willing to waive any fees and I needed to the debt or a collection action would be taken against me. Tis is not a debt which I owe and is clearly the fault of XXXX XXXX which did not properly close my account when tis all started. /what I find most interesting the debt attempting to be collected {$54.00} is not even the same as the HOA fee of {$68.00}.

I had a bank account with XXXX XXXX with a reserve line of credit attached that acted as an overdraft protection. I opened a bank account with a credit union and did not touch my XXXX XXXX account and it had $ in the account. I went inside a branch only to find out my account was negative and about to be sent to collections. Apparently they took out a reserve line payment for more than what the account had which I did not know until I went to the branch to physically make a payment so after that it accrued fees totaling over {$100.00}. I tried to fix the issue but it was already in collections so it went to appeles collection agency in XX/XX/2019 for the amount of {$150.00} which I disputed and never heard anything nor did I receive a letter or any documentation with the outcome of the dispute. Then on the XXXX of XXXX I received a new collection letter for the same debt from XXXX XXXX which I also disputed and heard nothing.so I called the first collection agency appeles to ask what happened with the dispute they told me they weren't collecting a debt and it was marked paid in full but they couldnt release any paperwork stating that and advised me to call XXXX XXXX which claimed to have no notations of the dispute whats so ever. Fast forward to XX/XX/XXXX I received yet another collection letter with again no outcome from the last company on the dispute again this time it is XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX I again disputed it for the 3rd time now within 5 months I'm just really getting tired of writing dispute letters only to get a letter for the same debt from another agency regarding the same debt that I have been disputing since XXXX. I just want this matter resolved.

The name of the company is XXXX, which now referred my debt to Apelles XXXX XXXX. In XX/XX/2020 I lost my job due to Covid. I called XXXX to cancel my security services since those were not a " necessity '' and I was focus on paying my mortgage, main utilities and food. XXXX convinced me to keep their services and would bring my monthly fees to {$10.00} a month opposed to {$60.00}. Since I was already a long term customer, I chose to keep my security services since the amount was bearable. After 9 months, services went up to {$60.00} and I called to cancel because the person who took the information did not do it correctly, he was apparently working remotely from home. I called every month over and over because the amount was increasing. Every time I called XXXX 's customer service, the person claimed he did not know how to disconnect services, others put me on hold for hours, others claimed they couldn't do it remotely for me to call back in a couple weeks. It was always an excuse. This went for about 6 months until they called me to collect. This was completely unprofessional and unfair on XXXX 's behalf because they took a bad situation and state of emergency to take advantage of the consumers because XXXX didn't have the resources during Covid to follow through with the requests. I did not activate my alarm services from XXXX for over 7-8 months so I don't owe them the {$290.00} they are trying to collect.

XXXX has been trying to collect a sum of money from me that they state is outstanding as a result of a three-year service contract. I never engaged in a contract with XXXX. They have tried to shift a possible service contract that my deceased father may or may not have had with them into my name. My father died on XX/XX/2019. His estate has been settled for more than one year. This is the second credit bureau to contact me. There was one previous one contacting me. My attorney communicated with them directly and explained to them that I do not have any debt to XXXX whatsoever, and explained that they must stop contacting me. They did, for many months. Then, this new agency began to write to my father. The mail was returned to them indicating that he is deceased. About a month later, they, too, began writing to me. I am in receipt of a letter to me today indicating that I owe them money for an outstanding balance. Nothing has changed : I don't owe them money. I never entered into a contract with XXXX. My father 's estate has been settled for more than a year, and there is no evidence that he ever entered in a contract with them. There is no money going to XXXX -- EVER! They, and all collection agencies -- including the current one ( APELLES ), must stop harassing me, or I will take further legal action.

Repeated attempts to cancel an XXXX XXXX account were ignored. They continued to bill even though they were notified that the account was not wanted and that their equipment was not operational at all for months and perhaps years prior. I completed XXXX 's request to receive the account holder 's death certificate in order to complete the cancellation of the account as well as receive the refund they stated they would send for amounts paid since the death of the account holder. But XXXX still sent the account to collections. So this complaint is to XXXX XXXX XXXX as well as the collection company that accepted the account for collection as the so-called debt does not exist and in fact an amount is owed to the account holder 's estate. XXXX needs to allow accounts to be cancelled when it is requested to be cancelled and not continue to bill for services it is not providing. The CFPB must step in in this instance to cease this behavior as I 'm sure this is not the only instance of them continuing to bill for services that are not being provided and continuing to bill after they have received a request ( in this instance many requests ) to cancel the service. Otherwise, consumers will continue to be harassed with being billed for services not received and not wanted which of course is absurd.

I was an XXXX XXXX XXXX customer for 14 years. The equipment began to malfunction and I did not want to upgrade the system. On XX/XX/XXXX I paid an annual fee of {$350.00} for service from XXXX of XXXX through XXXX of XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX I called to cancel my service. At this time I was still prepaid through XXXX of XXXX. I was told I would receive a refund of {$83.00}. To date, I have not received the refund. XXXX made a billing error and is trying to collect {$240.00} through Apelles. XXXX kept me on hold on the phone for over XXXX minutes several times. No one wants to fix this on their end. I requested additional information from Apelles, and they sent me a copy of the contract that was signed back in XXXX. There are no equipment fees owed on a contract that was signed 14 years ago. Apelles also provIded a list of all of the payments I made over the past XXXX years. This information backs the fact that I was prepaid through XXXX of XXXX and I do not owe XXXX money. No one has explained what the {$240.00} charge is for. No one is even reading over the information they provided, that substantiates my case. Please help!

XXXX has an unethical practice, bullying XXXX into paying above and beyond what they owe. I paid monthly fees for security services on my in-laws home in XXXX, FL. starting XX/XX/XXXX. The in-law moved to XXXX in XX/XX/XXXX & expired on XX/XX/XXXX. The house was sold in XX/XX/XXXX. The ONLY condition of Escrow was for the new owner to take over the remaining XXXX contract. XXXX continued to bill my credit card through XX/XX/XXXX. I called them to inform them of death of the owner & sale of the property as well as the condition of the escrow. After my call in XX/XX/XXXX - which they still have on record, I received no monthly statements and no notice of delinquency until a collection notice was mailed to me from XXXX onXXXXXX/XX/XXXX for a sum of {$870.00}. I called XXXX last week & they admit to all of the above but claim I " did not cancel my contract '' This is an unethical practice by XXXX. The clients are XXXX & unable to defend themselves. Most will pay these unjustified charges simply to protect their credit. THEY NEED AN AGENCY LIKE THE FTC TO PROTECT THEM.

I was contacted by XXXX after already having disputed the original debt with them well over a year ago. The debt claims that I am a co-endorser for another person for guarantee of their account and responsible for their unpaid amount of {$250.00}. The problem is that the contract provided to me showing my alleged signature only shows a digital signature. I contend that I did not sign as co-endorser of the agreement, it was executed by others outside of my knowledge, and is a fraudulent representation of a legal agreement. Last correspondence received from XXXX was in XX/XX/XXXX to which i responded to them and subsequently filed report XXXX with the Federal Trade Commission claiming this was a fraudulent representation.I have now received a collection notice on XX/XX/XXXX from Apelles collection agency ( www.apellesnow.com ) advising that I can now settle this debt for a lesser amount of {$120.00}. I did not previously owe anything to XXXX still do not owe anything for this mis-represented account.

In XXXX of 2018, someone used my personal information and opened up two accounts with XXXX XXXX, one checking account and one credit card. I resolved this with XXXX XXXX at the time and have a letter from them confirming that I do not owe them anything and the accounts were found to be fraudulent. Now, a year later, I am getting calls from a collections agency called Apelles LLC saying I owe them for an unpaid debt from XXXX. I have tried to resolve this with the collections agency by letting them know this was already taken care of with XXXX, but they said I need to deal with XXXX to get the account closed. When I called XXXX XXXX, they transferred me to several different departments before finally saying this could only be resolved with the collections agency. I attempted to contact the collections agency again, and I can not get through to a representative. I am getting the runaround from these two companies, making it impossible to resolve a situation I believed was resolved a year ago.

On XXXX XXXX , 2017 I received a phone call from a debt collection company , Apelles LLC regarding an alleged debt from XXXX XXXX . I sent Apelles a certified letter on XXXX XXXX , which I received confirmation for from the post office, stating that I wanted proof in writing within the 30 day prescribed time limit that I owed the debt in accordance of Sectio n 809 ( b ) of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. No proof was ever provided. It is now XXXX XXXX , well after the 30 days prescribed time and I have not received any proof of debt and I am getting phone calls stating that I owe the money?! I will happily pay the debt should it be verified and I will pay directly to XXXX but I have not received any verification of debt at all. In fact, back in XXXX I received a {$300.00} check FROM XXXX as a refund due to them taking money from my bank account after all items had been canceled.

On XX/XX/21, I was contacted by XXXX, who did not want to identify the company she represented. After repeated requests and having to talk over her, she finally revealed her company as Apellus, and when I refused to give her my personal information ( because to my knowledge, I have no business with Apellus ), she stated she was ending the call and " it's on you ''. I called back to confirm the company name, as her hastiness and rudeness made it difficult to understand the company name she gave me, and XXXX again did not want to identify her employer without first obtaining my personal information. To date, I have received nothing to identify who this company is or what business they presume to have with me - which also violates my consumer rights and laws governing debt collection practices.

On XX/XX/XXXX, I received three calls about a personal financial matter. The person informed me that I had an outstanding debt with XXXX in the amount of {$140.00}. The address that was provided for the services, I did not recognize. I told all three people that I have lived at my current location since XXXX. The representative ( XXXX ) told me that Apelles acquired the number but then asked me if I had contact with any relatives? She also stated that if I could just answer simple questions she could help me out. I explained to her that I have never had an XXXX account and I wanted to make sure no one had stolen my identity. She informed me that Apelles does not report to the credit bureau so I should be fine.

I have a letter dated XXXX with a balance of {$5100.00} from Apelles- a collection company. When I spoke with them in XXXX of XXXX, speaking from the letter they'd sent to me, we spoke of a {$5100.00} balance due ( see attachment ). I agreed to pay {$50.00} dollar a week, which I have done, until the balance is {$0.00}. Today, XXXX, when I called to discuss a settlement, I was informed that my balance was {$3700.00} because on their end my starting balance was {$6100.00}. I never received a letter stating any balance, except the {$5100.00} balance. I have paid {$3000.00}, thus far. The balance due should be XXXX, not XXXX, which I was never informed about.
