My husband and I are applying for a mortgage using our VA Loan through American Home Funding Company. The complaint is against XXXX XXXX XXXX, our agent. On XX/XX/XXXX at approximately XXXXXXXX XXXX. XXXX XXXX called me responding to an email I sent him. I asked him would he be available to talk at XXXX XXXX This would allow my husband to get home and we speak together. My intentions were that we would be able to hear the same conversation at the same time and discuss it together as would make the decision together regarding this loan. Before I go into the situation at hand, I would like to give some details. XXXX XXXX is preparing our loan application. Last week Friday, XX/XX/2022 XXXX XXXX informed me that he needed additional paperwork so that evening I submitted all the documents in the secured portal provided on his emails. During that call XXXX XXXX was speaking to me regarding the a extremely high deposit. He was very adamant about it. He kept telling me that this house was XXXX XXXX and expressing that the Realtor said she would not accept anything less than that amount along with other financial obligations that I was not aware of. All the time I am speaking with him he kept repeating about the deposit so in my mind I was thinking that was too much money and we don't have it. I thought about it and I called our Broker. I told him about the conversation and he asked me what amount would we be able to come up with. I informed him we could put the amount of the closing cost down as a deposit and if he could see if that was acceptable with the realtor. He later informed me that the realtor was fine with the proposal and that they were just waiting on the pre-qual. In turn, I had my broker contact XXXX XXXX, the lending agent to see what was going on with our pre-quail. I was informed that XXXX XXXX was waiting to talk to me and my husband before the approval. I sent XXXX XXXX an email and asked him could he speak with us at XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX called me at approximately XXXX XXXX. and I asked him to hold because my husband needed to be on the call as well. I tried to 3 way my husband but he said he was working and It was a bad time for him to talk so I asked XXXX XXXX if I could call him back in 30 minutes, again this is a conversation that me and my spouse needed to attend. XXXX XXXX said I'm on my way out and " You can relay the message to him '' and proceeded to tell me in an aggressive, degrading, and belligerent tone with an escalated voice " There is obviously a disconnect with your Realtor ... XXXX and XXXX ( the builders realtor ) '', you have to have between XXXX XXXX - XXXX XXXX as a deposit ''. " You don't have any money ; you don't have anything in your account and the little bit you have isn't enough for me to bring to the table ... '' I said XXXX XXXX, I told you that we would have the closing cost of {$12000.00} ... ( he interjected still yelling ... '' where are you going to get that money from, I don't see any money in your accounts, you don't have any money and one of the accounts only has {$11.00}!! ... '' but as I attempted to speak he got louder, and more belligerent with me. I kept trying to interject by telling him I knew what we have in our account and that he doesn't have to be yelling at me, I'm not a child and that he that he was being rude and disrespectful. XXXX XXXX got louder and more aggressive with his tone he was still yelling at me in a negative manner saying " go look for another house... you aren't ready because this house cost XXXX XXXX... you don't have any money ''. He went on and on and was so disrespectful that I eventually hung up the phone. I had enough with his aggressiveness, rudeness, belligerent attitude, and of him belittling and degrading me and my husband, etc. I am an adult, a XXXX Veteran, and a XXXX, I should be treated with respect and dignity as every person should. His nasty tone and aggressiveness were intentional, discriminatory, and degrading. I have informed my husband of this treatment, my broker, the company 's President and Vice President, and the seller 's realtor of this situation.. I know for a fact that he would not speak like this to my husband or any other man. I believe that this isn't his first time he has treated a ( XXXX or XXXX ) customer like this because he was extremely comfortable with it, and I also believe that I was degraded because of the color of our skin. You see, everyone has a story behind their life. Ours being extensive but as I said to XXXX XXXX, I need to move and that is the house I want. He doesn't have to keep telling me to look at another house because I don't want another house. We can afford that one. Our accounts are low because of family pandemic and immediate circumstances. We are living in someone else 's house and having to pay extensive amounts on pods, and storage facilities for our personal items and vehicles, that equal to as much as, if not more than, what we are going to pay for mortgage alone. Prior to this we supported our families during COVID pandemic, all that have bearing on our bank balances. Regardless, I am aware that if their company isn't willing to lend us the money, there are at least 100 more that are, with good service, respect, and dignity. But this goes beyond that ... the way I was treated was hurtful, intentional, degrading, and discriminatory. This is our 3rd home purchase and I have never gone through so much with a lending agent. Once we provide the proper documents, and our military papers ( VA Loan ) we do the loan application and we were either granted a loan or declined. Although we have never been declined, we have never been degraded, discriminated against, taunted or chastised. I have been in a position that served customers for more than half of my life. Not one time has my client or customer left me feeling degraded, discriminated against, nor have I ever yelled at or belittled them, regardless of the outcome of our business. I want to disclose this information to as many people as I can for the sake of them having to go through the same things. I also want XXXX XXXX to be aware that his attitude to XXXX, XXXX, non-rich people have consequences. If he continues he will ruin not only the company 's good name but his career. I am not sure if he broke any rules besides the ones listed above but I feel as though he intentionally held our account, and he never was going to present our loan application. He is mad because I went to the realtor to ask about the deposit after " He told me ... '' ( his exact words ), and because I didn't abide by his words. He is very unprofessional and should be reprimanded for his behavior.
