I'm a QMB [ Qualified Medicare Beneficiary ]. Under federal law, a Medicare provider can not collect my Medicare premiums, deductibles, coinsurance, or copayments. This is true whether it's Original Medicare or a Medicare Advantage plan. I'm in a low-income situation for Medicare. So there apparently is some confusion about how billing is supposed to work. I'm not supposed to be billed by providers under this program. So, I've consistently received bills and was confused as to why. So I reached out to Medicare and they pointed me here to get assistance. I have various dates and collection companies seeking to settle accounts that I shouldn't have been billed for.
